The preliminary test was where the robot would be made to go through some basic tests to see if it had any aptitude for anything like fighting, or analyzing and what not.
Because every robot had a person’s soul stored in it, its aptitude would vary depending on that person’s experience in the past life.
Only after taking this test, a robot would be given the final grade, which would decide if it would be worth nurturing or not.
If it were to get the pass grade, then the robot’s master could spend their time training the robot by teaching them martial arts or magic or anything possible.
For instance, there were families who specifically trained robots that could dance in the clubs, serve in the restaurants, or be escorts to important figures and so on.
Owning a capable robot would naturally elevate its master’s name.
Naturally, Sasha wished that Tucker would pass the preliminary test.
It had seven rounds.
The first round was the Combat Instinct Test.
Tucker was injected with a serum before he entered a specific room.
It was a sterile arena filled with holographic attackers armored with nanobots that adapted in real time. These holographic robots were all staring at Tucker.
Sasha was watching it on the screen from outside the room. “Last as long as you can Tucker,” she said.
Her voice reached Tucker’s ears.
At the same time, Tuckdore felt that his command over the machine body slightly increased. He could barely move his fingers now.
“I am starting to control this body a little now,” Tuckdore thought. “It’s not due to my power. It must be because of the potion they injected me with. Interesting. This world seems to have a deep understanding of the concept of souls. Even with this little control…”
Tuckdore grinned, and his grin was reflected through Tucker.
The holographic images charged him, throwing punches and sword slashes at the same time.
Sasha was startled. “Dodge, Tucker!” She shouted.
Tuckdore waved his arm, and a surge of electricity cut through the holographic images and destroyed them all.
There was silence.
The examiner’s mouth stayed open. What just happened?
Sasha’s expression also froze.
The main purpose of the Combat Instinct Test was not to measure a robot’s skill level but to see how long it could survive.
However, forget about survival, Tucker was able to destroy the holographic opponents.
“What did he do?” Sasha asked the examiner.
The examiner was seeing the data on the screen floating above his wrist gadget. “The nanobots are all destroyed due to overheating. The holographic equipment is fried, too.” He looked at Sasha. “Did you install your robot with any martial art technique?”
“What? Those things cost a fortune. My family isn’t that well off,” Sasha said.
“Then there’s only one explanation,” the examiner said. “It must have used the electric energy in its body to attack the holograms. The soul that’s inside your robot is well-versed with some kind of martial arts.”
Sasha’s eyes lit up. “R-Really?”
“Yeah,” the examiner smiled. “There were some cases where X-grade robots performed well. You are lucky. Your robot can fight if you can upgrade it well.”
“Yay!” Sasha jumped in delight. She ran into the testing room and hugged Tucker from behind. “You didn’t disappoint me, Tucker!”
Nearly half the G-grade robots would fail their first attempt in the first round of the preliminary test.
But Tucker was able to pass it, so Sasha was quite happy.
“it’s dangerous, ma’am,” the examiner rushed into the room. “The serum’s effects are yet to wear off. We don’t know how the robot would react.”
Sasha let go of Tucker and moved back.
Tuckdore turned around and stared at Sasha, then the examiner who looked a bit nervous and was ready to attack if necessary.
“Start the next round,” Tuckdore said.

Sasha’s eyes could track their movements from a distance. She could see that Devon was able to keep up with the frog robot’s speed, but not comfortably. She couldn’t tell if Devon could win.And this made her heart beat faster.Devon blocked another sharp attack. The frog robot smirked. “Is blocking all you can do?”Devon’s jaw tightened. The frog robot never swung twice from the same angle. One slash flowed into a thrust. The thrust became a feint. The feint became a pommel strike.Every movement invited a response, only to punish it.If Devon was a newbie, he would have long been slayed by the frog robot’s sword.“I killed bears and wolves, but I have never swung my swords at frogs,” Devon said. “So, it’s hard to think of attacking a frog that lives and dies in a pond.”The frog robot grinned. “My master will love it if I beat the crap out of you.”“Then why don’t you try doing it?” Devon pushed the opponent back with brute force, then his sword carved a powerful diagonal arc.The

“You want Devon?” Sasha couldn’t believe what her mother just said. “Did I hear it correctly?”“Yes, my little darling,” Eureka smiled. “Now that Devon has become a certified Weapon Trainer, he doesn’t need to chase a career in the Circuit. A few good wins is all he needs. Once he enters the E-grade, he can start teaching. Devon will impart his knowledge to the youngins. The more popular he gets, the richer we get.”“I’m not giving you Devon,” Sasha quickly said, “at least not yet.”“How long should I wait?” Eureka asked.“Until I find an alternate robot for Devon,” Sasha’s voice grew a bit dull and thick. After all, she knew that she got lucky while choosing Devon. And she might not get such a talented robot again.“You have until he enters the E-grade,” Eureka told her. “If you want, your dad and I will help arrange the money for you to buy another F-rank robot.”Sasha dipped her chin, though her expression said otherwise.Eureka and David both continued talking with Devon, acting l

“Wake the fuck up, Sasha.” A customized voice message rang like an alarm. “You have a circuit match to attend this evening.”Sasha opened her eyes late in the afternoon because she had slept in the morning.Devon had a fight scheduled today. So she lazily got off the bed, washed her face and walked out of the room. The hall was full of guests, mostly friends of her parents, dancing and clapping and cheering. Many women surrounded Devon and were chatting, almost flirting with him, touching his shoulders and arms and feeling him.Sasha couldn’t believe what she was seeing. With just one trainer certificate, Devon’s status was elevated in not just the society but in her own home.Even her own parents were treating him like he was their biological son.She did not like that. What’s more, yesterday, Devon was waiting at her door and served her needs. Today, he was busy chatting with her mom’s friends.“How many girlfriends did you have in your past life, Devon?” one woman asked.“We did no

Devon dropped all four old men at their respective homes. They all had robot maids at home, who took care of them afterward.Sasha and Devon then headed home in a parrot vehicle.“Didn’t those old men have their own personal robots?” Devon asked. “So why did they ask for our assistance?”“Because they can,” Sasha said. “They have some kind of deal with our guild. Today, we picked them up from the bar. Tomorrow, someone else will have to help them in some other way at some other place. Think of it as having a guild to help you whenever you need something done. Robots at home are not good at everything. They have limited capabilities. Some of them don’t even have souls within them.”Devon nodded in understanding. This was like hiring an escort group even though he already had his own personal cart and bodyguards. This was the power of money.“Oh, wait, I forgot about the weapon trainer exam,” Sasha put her arm around Devon’s shoulders. “Congratulations. You pulled it off.”“How did you

It took Devon nine hours to finish the job.The garden was sparkling clean. The pigs and the birds were caught and transported away.Devon’s battery was now low after doing continuous work.“How much did we earn from this mission?” he asked Sasha.“100 nex,” she replied.“Only 100?” Devon was shocked.“You get five to ten nex per hour of work in most fields,” Sasha said. “We got 100 nex within one night because we’re members of the Black Rose guild.”“If we weren’t members of this guild, we would have received less money, huh.”“Yep.”“Can we go home now? I think I need some time off, Lady Sasha.”“Actually, I took another mission,” Sasha said, startling him.“A-Another mission?”“It’s just dropping a group of elderly citizens home,” Sasha said. “They are all drunk, so we need to make sure they get home safely.”“Why did they drink so much they couldn't even get home?”“We don’t ask questions. We only solve them in this field,” Sasha retorted.Afterward, they went to the location shar

To Devon’s surprise, the judges advised him to not take the spear exam.“There are trainers who teach the sword, and there are trainers who teach the spear, but not both even if they know how to wield both the sword and the spear,” one of the judges said. “If you start teaching both, you are going to make enemies out of both sides. And it’s also hard for you to attract students of the sword path or the spear path in particular.”Devon wasn’t satisfied by their response. “It wouldn’t hurt to have the certificate, so I will take the spear exam.”“No, you won’t,” Eureka intervened with a smile. She then greeted the judges.Devon asked her why he couldn’t take the spear test, but she didn’t even answer him as the judges were in the front.“If your owner doesn’t want you to take the exam, then you shouldn’t,” the judges said.Afterward, Devon was given the Sword Trainer certificate. And he was also given a one-star sword badge that had his name and his master’s name engraved on it.He gave
