The preliminary test was where the robot would be made to go through some basic tests to see if it had any aptitude for anything like fighting, or analyzing and what not.
Because every robot had a person’s soul stored in it, its aptitude would vary depending on that person’s experience in the past life.
Only after taking this test, a robot would be given the final grade, which would decide if it would be worth nurturing or not.
If it were to get the pass grade, then the robot’s master could spend their time training the robot by teaching them martial arts or magic or anything possible.
For instance, there were families who specifically trained robots that could dance in the clubs, serve in the restaurants, or be escorts to important figures and so on.
Owning a capable robot would naturally elevate its master’s name.
Naturally, Sasha wished that Tucker would pass the preliminary test.
It had seven rounds.
The first round was the Combat Instinct Test.
Tucker was injected with a serum before he entered a specific room.
It was a sterile arena filled with holographic attackers armored with nanobots that adapted in real time. These holographic robots were all staring at Tucker.
Sasha was watching it on the screen from outside the room. “Last as long as you can Tucker,” she said.
Her voice reached Tucker’s ears.
At the same time, Tuckdore felt that his command over the machine body slightly increased. He could barely move his fingers now.
“I am starting to control this body a little now,” Tuckdore thought. “It’s not due to my power. It must be because of the potion they injected me with. Interesting. This world seems to have a deep understanding of the concept of souls. Even with this little control…”
Tuckdore grinned, and his grin was reflected through Tucker.
The holographic images charged him, throwing punches and sword slashes at the same time.
Sasha was startled. “Dodge, Tucker!” She shouted.
Tuckdore waved his arm, and a surge of electricity cut through the holographic images and destroyed them all.
There was silence.
The examiner’s mouth stayed open. What just happened?
Sasha’s expression also froze.
The main purpose of the Combat Instinct Test was not to measure a robot’s skill level but to see how long it could survive.
However, forget about survival, Tucker was able to destroy the holographic opponents.
“What did he do?” Sasha asked the examiner.
The examiner was seeing the data on the screen floating above his wrist gadget. “The nanobots are all destroyed due to overheating. The holographic equipment is fried, too.” He looked at Sasha. “Did you install your robot with any martial art technique?”
“What? Those things cost a fortune. My family isn’t that well off,” Sasha said.
“Then there’s only one explanation,” the examiner said. “It must have used the electric energy in its body to attack the holograms. The soul that’s inside your robot is well-versed with some kind of martial arts.”
Sasha’s eyes lit up. “R-Really?”
“Yeah,” the examiner smiled. “There were some cases where X-grade robots performed well. You are lucky. Your robot can fight if you can upgrade it well.”
“Yay!” Sasha jumped in delight. She ran into the testing room and hugged Tucker from behind. “You didn’t disappoint me, Tucker!”
Nearly half the G-grade robots would fail their first attempt in the first round of the preliminary test.
But Tucker was able to pass it, so Sasha was quite happy.
“it’s dangerous, ma’am,” the examiner rushed into the room. “The serum’s effects are yet to wear off. We don’t know how the robot would react.”
Sasha let go of Tucker and moved back.
Tuckdore turned around and stared at Sasha, then the examiner who looked a bit nervous and was ready to attack if necessary.
“Start the next round,” Tuckdore said.

“Go and wake her up,” David told his wife.Eureka quickly went to Sasha’s bedroom.“What are you doing outside until this hour?” David did not hold back any hostility in his eyes.“I was making money,” Tucker replied. His battery was barely two percent, so he went and stood on the charging pad placed next to the wall.“Money?” David snorted angrily. “Why are your hands empty then?” His eyes turned slightly red. “Do you know how much I paid the authorities to buy you? 25,000 Nex. Did you bring my daughter any profits so far?”Tucker didn’t say anything.Eureka brought Sasha out of the room. “You need to sell your robot away so that we don’t starve before your dad and I find jobs.”Sasha was rubbing her eyes. She looked very sleepy. “Why are you holding a meeting in the middle of the night, Dad? Can’t we discuss this in the morning?”“This is urgent, Sasha,” David pointed out at the scar on Tucker’s chest. “Look at this. He returned with an injury. He’s clearly done something. And he’s
CHAPTER 31
Later that night.Tucker returned to the home tower. He was almost out of battery. He just had two and half percent left.“Getting a battery upgrade will be good, but if I can make the energy in the aether mine, I wouldn’t have to worry about running out of battery,” Tucker thought. “But for some reason, the energy in the aether is not responding to my thoughts. It’s as if it doesn’t recognize this metal body.“The problem isn’t with my technique but with whatever rules they have written in my core. I have to overcome those rules one way or another if I want to even remotely get close to one percent of my past life’s strength.”As Tucker entered the elevator, another person slid in, and he had two human guards with him.“I remember you,” Michael said, burping. He was just coming from a late-night dinner party. “You are that red-haired sweetie’s slave, aren’t you? What are you doing outside at this hour? You should be recharging your ass right now. If you don’t keep winning the matches
CHAPTER 30
The F-rank robot brought skating rollers out of the soles of his feet and skated down the road while carrying Steel Ghost’s upper body.“I can’t believe you lost,” he said. “Just who the hell is that guy?”“Put me down and run,” Steel Ghost said.“What?”“Just do what I said.”The F-rank robot took Steel Ghost to another dark alley and dropped him there. “Are you sure?”“Between the two of us, he’ll choose me, so go,” Steel Ghost said.“I’m sorry,” the F-rank robot swiftly thrust his hand at Steel Ghost’s neck, “I can’t let you give away any information.”But someone held his neck before his hand could reach Steel Ghost.A surge of electricity melted the wires and short-circuited his functions, causing him to tremble and shake without a clue in the world.Tucker pushed him aside and looked at Steel Ghost.“You are strong. I underestimated you because you were just an X-grade,” Steel Ghost said. “But you won’t get anything from me.”“I’m not interested in who sent you,” Tucker said, pu
CHAPTER 29
The Ghost Edge technique caused the laser blade to emit microscopic vibration pulses millions of times per second, which extended slightly beyond the physical blade, allowing it to slice targets without making direct contact. It was an intermediate assassination technique that could slice through tough armor.Street Ghost had only used this against a handful of targets before. And he succeeded every single time.He expected the same tonight when he swung the sword at Tucker’s neck. However, Street Ghost's blade never reached Tucker's neck.Instead, the microscopic vibration waves carved a groove across the brick wall behind him. Chunks of concrete burst into the alley like shrapnel.Street Ghost's eyes lowered.Tucker had already stepped inside the swordsman's range. Most targets feared getting close to a laser sword, but this one was doing the exact opposite.Steel Ghost immediately twisted his wrist. The humming blade swept downward in an arc that seemed impossible to evade.Tucker
CHAPTER 28
“Two F-grades, and one E-grade…” Tucker squinted his eyes. “For me to assume you’re trying to steal from me, I’m just an X-grade robot. I assume there’s a better reason you’re after me.”The three of them took out what looked like batons, but a press of a button released laser swords.Tucker’s gaze turned serious as the vibrational laser energy made him remember the dark lord of destruction, one of the toughest enemies Tuckdore had faced. There was no taunting or yelling. The three of them simply sprang forth, but their legs allowed them to propel themselves like springs.Tucker turned half way and moved left. One of the two robots on his left came swinging the sword diagonally.Tucker dodged. The second robot was already swinging at him.Tucker desperately ducked. The third robot’s thrust was upon him.Tucker released a burst of lightning from his body, and it barely managed to thwart the laser sword out of its path.Tucker tried to get past them, but one of them raised his palm and
CHAPTER 27
Tucker was pushed out of the mansion.“If you come near this place again, you will be beaten to pulp,” the guards warned him while smiling like sick bastards. There were some people watching, but Tucker didn’t look the least bit embarrassed.Tucker briefly glanced over his shoulder and remembered the building and the name of the guild.“Black Rose guild… Just enjoy your time. When my time comes, I will crush you.”He walked down the road without looking back.“I told Sasha I’d bring 100,000 nex, but now I don’t have even a single nex. This isn’t good.”As he kept walking, one middle-aged lady saw him and approached him.“I haven’t seen an X-grade recently,” she smirked. “And you’re quite handsome. I like you. Let’s go to my place. I’ll pay you 10 nex an hour.”She touched his crotch and frowned.“Mm? You don’t even have a penis? Or is it hidden?”She kept staring at him. “Why aren’t you saying anything? Don’t you have the ability to talk? Did they not install speech software for you?
