"Protein shake?" Jace asked, raising a brow in confusion, he couldn't tell what the system meant by that statement, and he genuinely did care to know.

All that mattered to him at that moment was to fight these thugs, save his mother and humiliate the greedy cop; every other thing was secondary. He wasn't exactly terrified by their body build; rather, he was just baffled because most street gang members that he knew didn't look so good.

He also wasn't afraid of going up against them in a fight, because he had been targeted and attacked numerous times by these kinds of hoodlums and made it out alive by defending himself. So he believed that three thugs were nothing compared to those attacks consisting of five to seven members.

As Jace waited impatiently for the right moment to attack, his eyes glanced at the television screen, and he rolled his eyes in disdain.

"They must put up my picture everywhere now huh?" He whispered under his breath and adjusted his dark shades before sipping from his bottle of cola.

Soon, the voice of his favourite female waiter caught his attention and he looked in her direction, only to see her trying to explain some things to the thugs.

"I'm sorry but we don't do that here," she said,

"This is a bar not exactly... a club."

"But don't you see?" Asked one of the thug members, he stood to his feet and towered above her like Jericho walls.

"I came to make you feel good, it's nothing too serious."

To make matters even worse, he pulled her closer to himself by her waist, while sniffing her hair like the fresh autumn air.

"I said let go of me," she struggled to break free from his grasp.

Unfortunately, every customer minded their business, such behaviour was not new to this kind of environment, and no one cared to interfere, knowing that it might he sorted out eventually.

But Jace wasn't going to ignore this, especially not when his favourite girl was involved. However, he feared that when he got involved, his cover might be blown, and that's when things would get messy.

"Is it time yet?" He pestered the system, all while feeling the urge to get on his feet and do something.

[ Wait ]

"Oh come on!" He swallowed these words and continued to watch in silence.

"You smell so good," the thug commented, sniffing her hair multiple times and making the young lady feel uncomfortable. Sadly, she couldn't protect herself or fight him because he was a customer, and if a customer were to get upset and leave the bar because of her, she might lose her job.

So inasmuch as this made her skin crawl, she had no choice but to endure it, until hopefully the thugs let her go. But, that was not the case.

The member who had drawn her to himself started to go further than just sniffing her hair, his fingers ran down her neck and a smug expression was plastered on his face. He was aware of his perverted behaviour and enjoyed it all the way, but this did not go unnoticed because Jace was burning with fury back in his seat.

"Sys....

[ Now. ]

"Yes!" Jace exclaimed in his head and sprang up to his feet,

"Hey, let the girl go!" He yelled at the thug, in a slightly lower pitch tone,

"You heard me!" He added, walking up to their table like a lion asserting dominance.

"This is not a street club, so go find a party doll somewhere else."

Shocked by the stranger who dared to speak to him, the thug pulled the waiter even closer to himself and asked.

"What are you going to do huh?"

"Please sir," the young lady pleaded with Jace, with fears evident in her eyes.

"Please don't upset him, I will handle this myself." She added.

Jace knew that she couldn't do anything, he had worked here for three years and knew that she was just protecting her job.

"Let her go, or will rip you apart," he warned.

"Oh?" The thug exclaimed with a smug,

"I'd like to see you try," he added, and to further provoke Jace, he tried to force a kiss onto her lip, even though she fought against it.

"That does it." Jace did not waste a second; he delivered a powerful punch to the thug's face and pulled the lady away from him.

"Find a place to hide," he ordered her, and instead of leaving immediately, the lady turned to him and called his name,

"Jace?"

"Who is Jace?" Jace asked back in a bid to cover up, but the thug members attacked him before he could say anything else.

"Get out of here," he warned the lady just before he was brought to the ground, followed by the numerous punches that were thrown at him.

It was difficult to dodge the punches because he was on the ground, and taking three of them simultaneously was overwhelming. There was a cutlery on the floor, within reach, but the system's instructions were clear in his head. To use no weapons, not even a fork.

"You think you have such a big month huh? Well, watch me disfigure your face!" Said one of the members.

"Aren't you such a prince, trying to save a damsel in distress? Where has it gotten you?" Asked the other.

The punches kept coming at him, and the most he could do was to block his face and the glasses from falling off. These thugs were a lot stronger than he thought, so it was funny how the system reduced their strength and body build to mere protein shakes.

"Combat Proficiency 2%, physical strength 2%" Jace instantly recalled these figures, because that's what had caught his attention the most on the system status.

If he wasn't allowed to use a weapon, then at least he could use the system to his advantage. On a normal day, he could take five thugs, but now there are three and they appeared to have outpowered him. So just a slight increase in his strength would surely go a long way. And two per cent, although not much, was enough for the time being.

[ As instinctively requested ]

[ Combat Proficiency at 2% activated! ]

"I hope this helps."

[ Physical Strength at 2% activated! ]

"Thanks, my ladybug," Jace uttered with a smirk. He opened the little black box just enough for the metallic little creatures to fly in, before closing it and placing it down in his wardrobe. He had used it to spy on two students, the one who had attacked him on his way back from the cafeteria after he saw the sign hung on the wall along with Adan's picture. And the second, was the guy who had purposely poured hot sauce on him while eating at the cafeteria. "They are friends," he thought to himself, "That's so convenient, and that explains why they both came after men without a care in the world." While spying on them with the ladybug, he learnt that they were from similar departments, both in their second year and also had a third friend named Adam that completed the clique. "If I could get them to support me," He thought to himself, "That'll be three out of five, but how? What can I even do to make two students who hate me enough to embarrass me, stand by my side?" At the mom

"Good day, sir," Jane stormed into the Vice Chancellor's office. She was too persistent to be stopped by the secretary, and although it's not something she had done before, this time she did, threatening to get her fired if she stood in her way. "Jane dear," the VC lifted his head from the pile of papers that he was signing, "Haven't seen you in a while, is anything the matter?" Without responding, Jane pulled out the chair opposite his desk and made herself comfortable, her expression was calm but almost unreadable. "Yes, sir, a lot is going on," she finally said, took a deep breath, and shifted in her seat. The VC paused, placed his pen on the desk and looked her in the eyes. "Oh dear," he exclaimed, astonished, "Tell me dear, what is it? Who is bothering you? I will have them dealt with immediately. We already have so much on our plate now that we can't add any more." " Exactly!" Jane chimed in. "That's why I'm here, the current case, the dying student and the treatment

  • [97] I will dump you

"I'm sorry for ignoring you for so long," Jace replied and stepped back."I felt terrible after I left you in the corner, because deep down I know I liked you... And I know how bad you felt when I ignored you. But I had my reason, very genuine reasons."Becky’s lips curved into a smile, still catching her breath from the unexpected experience."Do you want to tell me?" She asked, but Jace's eyes were fixed on the floor, as though he was ashamed of what he had done to her."Look at me," she ordered, in an authoritative tone, yet her touch on his face was ever so gentle. She lifted his face so that their eyes interlocked once more, and said,"Tell me what it is and I will understand, you don't have to hide anything from me... You see now, Jace, we don't have to hide anything from each other and all this hate, you won't have to face them alone because I will be by your side the whole time.""That's the problem exactly, Becky," Jace retorted, his hand pulling her fingers off his cheeks."

Jace returned to the dormitory, his mind fixed on how to solve the problem at hand, and not how to deal with some college girl trying to blackmail him. Yes, it was true that he used her, and it's also true that he's been ignoring her, but he isn't attracted to her, not enough to date. But he must admit, her attraction fueled Jace's ego a bit."Okay, system, I need suggestions," Jacs muttered, throwing his book on the desk and sinking into his bed like a swimming pool."This is too difficult to figure out, and even worse now that the VC has restricted me from doing anything. I know that man might be up to something, even behind all this."[ Jace ][ I do have on suggestions for you ]"I'm listening."[ This roleplay: Strategist/ Kingmaker Path requires you to be strategic, not being loud isn't what it means to be strategic, because you can be loud just for the sake of strategy.][ Your overall silence and pretentious apathy are killing everything you built. • [95] Just you wait and see

That same afternoon, as sun filtered lazily through the tall windows of the lecture hall, painting warm streaks across the tiled floor. Students shuffled their way out after the last class, chatter filling the corridor like the hum of bees. Jace who had returned early for his last class, slipped his hands into his pockets and walked quietly after it was over. His head was lowered, just enough to avoid unnecessary attention, after all, his mind wasn’t even here because thoughts of Amos, the Chief, and the growing noose around campus kept pressing on him.But before he could reach the stairway at the end of the hall, a figure moved into his path. Someone he spent two weeks ignoring, Becky. With arms folded across her chest and lips curled in a mixture of anger and desperation, she said, “So… you’re just going to keep pretending I don’t exist huh? Ignoring all my calls and messages, turn around whenever you see me."Jace sighed, his eyes flicking up at her briefly. Witho

Someone was indeed coming to open the door, but from where Jack was peeping, he noticed that the figure hesitated, then slowly retreated deeper into the house. His voice was a hushed rush as he turned to Jace. “He’s backing away. Dude saw us but doesn’t want to answer.” Jace pressed his lips into a thin line. He rapped his knuckles against the wood again, firmer this time, the sound of the knock echoing into the silence of the yard. “Mr. Kellar,” Jace called, keeping his voice steady, but not harsh. “We just want to talk. That’s all.” Silence He drew in a slow breath, then knocked a third time, louder. “Please. We’re not here to cause trouble.” From inside, a voice erupted suddenly, tone laced with bitterness. “I said I don’t want to be disturbed! Not again! I’ve had enough of you college pests. Haven’t you taken enough from me already?” Jack blinked and stepped back a little. “Well, he sounds like a bundle of sunshine.” But Jace didn’t retreat, still resting against the
