The old warehouse on the outskirts of town was the chosen meeting place. Max, Bucky, Ronald, and their men, were waiting for Miguel. The air was thick with anticipation and the faint scent of dust and gasoline. Ronald glanced at his men, then at the entrance, where Miguel and his Mexican gangmen were just arriving.

Miguel stepped forward, flanked by his lieutenants. “Max,” he greeted curtly.

“Miguel,” Max replied, matching his tone. “We need to talk.”

Miguel said with a sad demeanor. “Talking is why we’re here, isn’t it?”

Ronald folded his arms. “You know what we want. Lena. Safe and unharmed.”

Miguel’s eyes narrowed. “And you know what we want. Ten billion dollars.”

Max shook his head. “That’s not going to happen, Miguel. You’re in no position to demand that kind of money.”

Miguel said in a harsh tone. “You think you’re in control here, Max? Think again.”

Bucky stepped forward. “We could just take you out right now and be done with it.”

Mayor's Office - MorningMayor Anderson walked back and forth, his face filled with frustration and turning red. His desk was scattered with papers as his voice reverberated in the room. "I can't believe this!" The Luckys and the Beckers are abandoning me! How am I supposed to run a re-election campaign without their support?”Sitting calmly in one of the plush chairs was Kim, the enigmatic leader of the Japanese gang. He watched Anderson's tantrum with an unreadable expression, his fingers steepled thoughtfully.Anderson stopped pacing and turned to Kim, his eyes desperate. “You’re just going to sit there? Do you have any idea what this means for me?”Kim’s gaze remained steady. “You do not need the Lucky and Becker families to win the election, Mayor.”Anderson blinked, taken aback. “What? Are you out of your mind? They’re the most powerful and influential families in New York. Without their backing, I’m finished!”Kim continued, his tone calm and measured. “I will help you win the

Thank you for suggesting this, guys.”Trisha waved her hand dismissively. “Of course! We needed some girl time.”The driver stopped the car and then opened the door for them. Trisha Sarah and Lena giggled like schoolgirls as they climbed into the vehicle. The upscale shopping district was where the car left them off. The morning sunlight beamed in through the curtains of the window. It woke Lena up from her slumber. She felt the warmth coming from Nathan's body, which was next to her. His arm wrapped around her giving her protection. She Looked up at Nathan, and she saw his calm expression, his face appearing gentler when he was sleeping. She blushed even though she knew how dangerous it was to have intercourse with Nathan, who she was supposed to sell out to Randy and Bobby soon. However, she still had no regrets about last night because she was satisfied by the intense intercourse. But then she realized the situation she was in, she had just slept with Nathan, unprotected. This made her heart beat quickly. She carefully moved out from underneath his arm and went straight into the bathroom. She glanced back at him one more time before rushing into the bathroom, her mind racing with what to do next. She splashed water on her face, trying to calm herself."Okay, Lena. Think," she murmured to hersel

Trisha was restless as she couldn’t sleep. The mansion was extremely quiet in a way that only increased her unease. Deciding to stand and take a stroll, she let out a sigh “Perhaps drinking a cup of tea would help me sleep.” She said to herself. She got out of bed, put on a robe, and quietly walked down the hallway. Upon entering the kitchen, she could hear a soft tune playing. Intrigued by her curiosity, Trisha pursued the noise, walking carefully with light steps. The sound of music increased in volume as she approached the music room. Beethoven's "Für Elise" could be heard echoing in the corridor, a tune that was quite familiar. Stopping at the entrance, she held her breath in surprise. Max sat at the piano, his fingers moving gracefully across the keys. He played the same song at the ball on September 10, the evening he was shot.Trisha stood by the doorframe, observing him. In this moment, he appeared quite distinct--vulnerable, almost peaceful. A feeling of both admiration and s

The elegant dining room was filled with the sound of silverware clinking. Trisha was seated across from Max at the extended, shiny table, with their breakfast laid out in front of them. The noticeable silence between them was dense, packed with words left unsaid and tension that lingered."Hand me the salt," Max requested without lifting his eyes from his plate.Trisha handed him the salt shaker, her eyes lingering on him. “You’re always so serious.”Max glanced at her, an eyebrow raised. “It’s necessary.”“Necessary?” Trisha scoffed. “Doesn’t it get exhausting?”He shrugged, sprinkling salt on his eggs. “It’s part of the job.”Trisha sighed, pushing her food around her plate. “I can’t imagine living like that.”Max’s gaze softened slightly. “You get used to it.”“Do you?” Trisha challenged. “Or do you just tell yourself that?”He set down his fork, looking at her intently. “What do you want to know, Trisha?”She hesitated, then met his eyes. “Why do you do it? The violence, the dange

The Lucky mansion's large living room was filled with the family, the air still heavy with tension after the recent events. Max was seated in an armchair, his face lit up by the cozy fireplace's warm radiance. Lena, Nathan, Trisha, Roland, and Bucky surrounded him with expressions reflecting a blend of curiosity and worry. They knew they had to discuss the next move against the Mexican gang.Lena stared at him closely. "Max, who exactly is Raul?"Max inhaled deeply. “Raul didn't start as a criminal mastermind. Raul Alvarez, I believe his name was. He was born in a small Mexican town. His family lived in a small, dilapidated house due to their lack of wealth. His father was employed as a laborer, earning just enough income to provide food for the family. Raul was left responsible for his younger siblings after his mother passed away in his youth.”Roland frowned. "So, he had a tough childhood. But that doesn’t explain why he became who he is."Max gave a nod. "Correct." However, his ea
