Draven.
He stepped in like a shadow that had been waiting for the perfect moment calm, calculated, dangerous. An evil smirk curled across his lips as his gaze swept the ruined restroom, eyes flicking over each person like a wolf scanning prey.
“Looking for something?” His voice was smooth, but laced with menace each word sharp, deliberate.
But behind him… stood her.
The air shifted. Everything stilled.
Mouths dropped. Breaths caught.
Piper.
“What is she doing here?”
“Wait, how is she okay?”
“Is she a mutant too?”
“Is she working with Draven?”
The unspoken questions rippled through everyone’s minds as their eyes locked onto Piper, who stood silently beside Draven. Her expression wasn’t scared. Not confused. But eerily calm.
And then she spoke softly, coolly her eyes never leaving Alan’s unconscious body.
“I told you he was suspicious.”
It wasn’t said to the group. No. It was directed at Draven.
Draven tilted his head slightly, his smile thinning. “Indeed… you were right,” he murmured, as if replaying her words from a different time.
His gaze now settled on Alan, studying the scorched ground, the shattered tiles, the fading remnants of inferno and gravity still clinging to the air like residue.
“Seeing as the detector couldn’t register his power wave… he’ll be strong,” Draven added, more to himself now curious, almost impressed.
His eyes narrowed slightly. Calculating. Dangerous.
And in that instant, it was clear Piper wasn’t just here by accident.
She had chosen a side. She was the X- mutants and all this while the were being played
Draven tapped a few times on the sleek, metallic wristwatch strapped to his wrist. The device blinked red an ominous glow pulsing in rhythm with the tension rising in the room.
“We have to take him.”
The words left his mouth like a decree, low and commanding. In that instant, something shifted the fog of shock lifted from Jax and the rest of the team.
Violet reacted first, instinct kicking in. She stepped forward and spread her arms protectively in front of Alan’s unconscious form, shadows curling around her feet.
“Don’t be a bitch, baby girl. Move.”
Draven’s eyes locked onto her with icy menace, as if he could burn holes through her with just his glare.
Jax turned quickly to Paige, urgency lacing his voice. “How’s the portal coming up? We need to get out. Now.”
Paige, momentarily frozen by Draven’s presence, resumed her task. Sparks of violet energy reformed in her palms as the portal began to hum and glow behind them.
Then, Piper stepped forward from behind Draven. Calm, confident… dangerous.
“You’re not taking him. I found him first.”
Her words cut through the air like a blade. “Let’s watch you try, then.”Aeron stepped up, power surging faintly in his veins, eyes locked on Piper. “Anyone standing next to Draven instantly earns my attention.”it was as if the were ready to exchange blows
The tension between them flared, crackling with the promise of a clash.
Draven silent still watched them all with the cold detachment of someone who’d seen this too many times before. The infamous mutant, once a rising talent in Whitelock, now a criminal wanted across New Zealand. His powers were once buried by law, suppressed by a system afraid of what he could become.
But he became it anyway.
He joined the X-Mutants, leaving a trail of destruction behind. His face lit up every wanted screen in the country. If caught, there would be no trial. Only death.
And yet… he smiled. He just couldn’t care , he was already accomplishing what he wanted by going around destroying Government properties
“Aeron, this isn’t the time to act out!” Jax barked, stepping between them just as the portal flared fully to life behind Paige.
“Portal is ready!” Paige called out, voice sharp.
Piper’s eyes flicked to the swirling vortex, then to Alan. Panic laced her expression.
“Draven, we can’t let them”
Her words were cut short when she jabbed her elbow toward Draven who hadn’t moved a muscle. He caught her hand mid-air without even looking at her.
Still smiling, Draven finally glanced at Jax.
A silent message passed between them. Go. But next time, you won’t get that chance.
*OUTSIDE THE PARTY*
Danny burst out of the toilet stall, heart pounding like a drum. His breath came in sharp, ragged gasps, his face flushed from the mad dash out of danger. If he hadn’t escaped when those people showed up to confront Alan… he’d be dead by now. No doubt.
“What the fuck just went down in there?”
The question came from a guy standing nearby in a red hoodie and baggy jeans, his voice sharp, curious and a little too loud for Danny’s liking.
Danny didn’t respond immediately. Still bent over, hands on his knees, trying to steady his breathing.
“Were those freaks... mutants?”the hoodie guy added.
“Shut up.”Danny hissed, voice low and warning as his eyes darted around. The last thing he needed was people overhearing this. The word mutant alone could send a ripple of chaos through the crowd.
“You can’t shut me up,”the guy snapped, stepping closer and jabbing a finger into Danny’s chest. “If they’re mutants, we can’t just let them go. We do something about it. Now.”
Another voice joined in one of Danny’s boys. “He’s right, Dan. Those freaks ruined your party. They need to pay. Alive. Exposed.”
Danny swallowed hard. He knew they were stirring the pot, playing with fire but deep down, it made sense. The chaos inside, Alan losing control, that portal... all of it. If they really were mutants, the Division would have his back.
Then came the third voice, colder than the rest.
“Remember, your dad won’t let you off the hook if he finds out you messed with a Clark*”
That one hit deep. A Clark. Alan. His dad would want results. Action. Justice.
Danny clenched his fists as the weight of the moment settled in. If Alan was outed as a mutant and he was the one who made it happen maybe, just maybe, his father would finally be proud.
He didn’t say a word. Just nodded once, the decision forming like ice in his chest.
Alan Clark wouldn’t leave this place unnoticed. Not tonight.
"You guys are right. We can’t let those mutant fuckers mess with our party."
Danny hissed, his lips curling into a cruel smirk as he pulled out his phone. With zero hesitation, he dialed a number.
*FEW MOMENTS LATER*
A sharp voice boomed through a megaphone:
“Everyone is kindly asked to evacuate the building immediately!”
Outside, chaos erupted. Agents in tactical gear and medics stormed the venue as crowds were ushered out in waves. Screams filled the air, mixing with the wails of emergency sirens. Some onlookers froze, phones out to capture the scene, while others bolted in full panic.
Above, in a sleek hovercraft marked Division-M, agents were already in formation.
“Activating Mutant Trace Grid. Locking sector,” a voice barked into a comm.
A triangular drone launched from the lead craft, slicing into the sky. It released a holographic map that hovered mid-air, scanning the building in real time. A pulsing red dot appeared on the restroom block.
Inside the hovercraft, Agent Zara leaned forward, her eyes narrowing on the blinking heat signature.
“An anomaly...”she muttered. The energy spike was unstable irregular. Exactly what they’d been trained to track.
“That’s our target.”
“Deploy sound dampeners and null zones!”another agent commanded.
A low hum rolled across the air as equipment was dropped, creating interference fields that buzzed through the building like invisible nets.
*BACK IN THE RESTROOM*
“My powers are fading! We need to move NOW!”Paige shouted, her voice strained as the swirling portal behind her began to flicker and shrink. The null zones were already affecting her ability to hold it open.
MK didn’t wait. In a flash, he zipped across the room, grabbed the unconscious Alan by the leg, and vanished into the portal. Violet followed instantly, dragging a reluctant Aeron behind her.
“Let’s just go,” she muttered, casting one last glare at Piper, who stood frozen in disbelief.
Draven smirked.
“Run along, baby bro. I’ll see you soon.”
His words sliced through the air, aimed directly at Jax, just as he and Paige were about to escape.
Jax froze.
Paige and Piper's eyes widened, stunned by what they just heard.
“You’re... brothers?” Paige echoed, almost breathless.
But before she could get an answer, the portal snapped shut behind them gone, as if they were never there.
“Let’s go,” Draven said coldly.
He seized Piper by the arm, and with a shimmer of distortion, they vanished.
Seconds later
BOOM!
The restroom doors exploded open as Division-M agents flooded in, weapons drawn, eyes scanning every corner.
“All hands up! On your knees!”
But the room was empty.
No mutants. No resistance.
Only silence... and the fading hum of powers that had already escaped.

UNDERGROUND MUTANTS BASEA portal opened, and the five mutants returned from their mission. They weren’t alone. MK, who had dragged Alan, dumped him roughly on the ground at the mutant base, showing no remorse.“Hey!”Paige snapped, her voice sharp. “What did you do that for?” MK shot her a glare that warned her not to push her luck.“Let him be.”Violet patted Paige’s back. Paige’s lips were pressed into a thin line, clearly angry and wanting to speak up. MK’s look told her everything. “He was never a good person, so let him be,” Violet added, giving Paige a sharp glance. Paige’s face twisted in disgust. No one in the mutant base was kind. Everyone had their own struggles. She sighed heavily and looked down at Alan. He lay unconscious, oblivious to everything around him. When she looked around, she realised she was alone. No one had informed the higher-ups that they were back.“Hmph, such rude specimens.”As Paige dragged Alan away the walked away, the weight of silence hung heavy i

"Aeron! No! Aeron, stop!"Like a flash of lightning, someone burst out from behind a broken toilet stall and lunged toward Alan it was Aeron.Hours earlierThe restroom was chaos incarnate. Cracked tiles crumbled underfoot, water pipes ruptured, and steam hissed through shattered vents. Alan stood in the center, eyes glowing an eerie purple, flames licking hungrily around his arms. The once claustrophobic, crumbling restroom now resembled a collapsed bunker, thick with tension and the sharp echo of the scream that still hung in the air."You're going to get yourself killed!" Violet's voice sliced through the chaos. She emerged beside Aeron, both having sprinted to intercept Alan, but it was already too late. Violet's fiery ginger hair was wild and tousled from the rush; her breaths came ragged and shallow. Yet Aeron didn't hear her, his breathing was ragged, uneven, and the energy crackling around him twisted in dangerous, unstable spirals. With a sharp cry, Aeron lunged toward Alan,

The moment Alan stepped into the men's restroom, he was hit by a wave of harsh chemical odor mixed with something fouler stale urine and dampness clinging to the air. He paused, face twisting in disgust, one hand instinctively covering his nose. His eyes scanned the room: white tiled walls, urinals lined up some clean, others clearly neglected."Ugh," he muttered, his voice muffled behind his hand. "What the actual hell… Don't tell me Danny was messing with me."He walked further in, though "walk" might've been generous. His feet dragged along the floor, each step sluggish, cautious like his gut was warning him. He turned the corner, toward the stall area, when a muffled sound caught his attention. *Alan’s POV*I know I said I wouldn’t go,but here I am, dressed in a blue tux, about to pick up my date, my life could be complicated at times.“I don’t have a good feeling about this,” I muttered to myself, barely audible.I sat in my car outside Piper’s house, fingers tapping the steering wheel, one leg bouncing uncontrollably. Something inside me screamed not to go. Was it fear of Piper? Or maybe Danny about what he might do when he sees me at his party,or was there something deeper that I just couldn’t place my hand at.Lost in my thoughts, I flinched when a soft knock hit my window. I turned to see Piper’s beautiful face smiling at me.She wore a long red gown, a white fur cloak draped over her arm, and deep red lips to match. She was what we’d simply call: “Gorgeous.“Her dress went well with her pale skin and the way she curled her hair suited her oval little faceI was staring until she snapped her fingers in front of my face.“Come on, lover boy,

*MUTANT HIGH – ASSEMBLY HALL*Following the confidential meeting with the directors, one conclusion echoed louder than the rest every off-campus activity had to be suspended. No field trips. No weekend visits. No exceptions. Danger was looming, and no one could predict when or where it would strike. The vast assembly hall thrummed with uneasy energy. Muted whispers bounced from wall to wall. Students shifted in their seats, glancing around with furrowed brows and anxious frowns. The call to gather had come suddenly and at Mutant High, sudden never meant safe. Some huddled close, exchanging theories in hushed tones. A few tried to keep their cool, slouched in their chairs, arms crossed, but their eyes betrayed the tension. Even the most carefree mutants weren’t smiling. Something was wrong. Deeply wrong. Then the doors opened.Mr. Walter entered. He didn’t need to speak to command silence. The murmurs died almost instantly as his polished shoes echoed with each step toward the stage. H
