Liam sat alone in the dimly lit corner of the crowded bar. He lifted the heavy glass to his lips and let the burning alcohol scorch his throat. He slammed the empty glass onto the sticky wooden table with excessive force.
"Give me another bottle. The strongest thing you have right now," Liam demanded. His voice was thick, raspy, and completely devoid of warmth.
The bartender walked over and frowned deeply. "Sir, I think you are done for the night. You can barely keep your eyes open," the bartender said. He crossed his muscular arms defensively across his chest.
"I did not ask for your medical opinion. I am the doctor here. Just pour the alcohol and shut your mouth," Liam snapped. His eyes narrowed with pure, unadulterated hostility.
The bartender sighed heavily. He placed a full bottle of dark liquor on the table and walked away without another word.
Liam stared at the brown liquid swirling in the glass. The brutal truth he uncovered that afternoon played on a continuous loop in his brain. Five years. He had raised those two beautiful twin girls for five entire years. He loved them both with everything he had in his soul. Then the DNA test results arrived in his office today, and they split his heart cleanly in two. One of the girls was his own flesh and blood. The other one was not.
Being a physician, Liam understood the science perfectly. Heteropaternal superfecundation. It was a medical rarity, but it was absolutely real. Two separate eggs, released in the same cycle, fertilized by two different men. One of those men was him. The other man was a stranger he had never met and never would.
He and his wife, Chloe, had abstained from physical intimacy for several months prior to their wedding day. She had claimed she wanted the night to be incredibly special. He had believed her like an absolute fool. They finally consummated their relationship on their wedding night. The very next morning, they boarded a private jet to a secluded island for their honeymoon. There was no contact with any other men. No resort staff, no outside guests, just the two of them isolated in paradise.
There was only one rational explanation. On the exact same night Chloe gave herself to him, she also gave herself to another man. That was the only physical way she could carry twins who did not share the same father. One father was Liam. The other was someone he would spend the rest of his life wanting to hunt down.
The betrayal literally crushed his lungs. Chloe was the chairwoman of the largest business empire in the city. She possessed unearthly beauty and came from unimaginable wealth. Liam was a simple man from an ordinary, working class background. Faced with such a massive gap in their social status, he had always felt lucky. He had always believed she loved him purely. Now he realized the sickening reality of his entire marriage.
"She was just playing a game with me. A rich girl taking in a stray dog for charity," Liam whispered softly to himself. A bitter, angry tear fell down his cheek.
He grabbed the glass bottle and drank directly from the wide opening. He drank until his stomach churned violently and his vision went entirely black. The loud music of the bar faded into total silence. His body went limp, and his head crashed onto the wooden table.
Consciousness returned to Liam in fragmented pieces. A blast of cold air conditioning hit his flushed face. The overwhelming scent of expensive jasmine perfume assaulted his senses instantly. It was Chloe's signature scent.
Liam forced his heavy eyes open. He found himself buckled into the passenger seat of a luxurious car. A woman was driving silently beside him. Through his heavily drunken haze, her elegant silhouette matched his wife perfectly.
"You actually have the audacity to show your face to me right now?" Liam asked. His words slurred heavily, but his tone was dripping with absolute hatred and venom.
The woman did not respond at all. She kept her strict focus locked on the dark road ahead. Her grip on the leather steering wheel grew visibly tighter.
"I am talking to you, you disgusting whore. Are you suddenly mute? Or are you just trying to figure out another pathetic lie to feed me?" Liam shouted. He leaned aggressively toward the driver seat.
The woman remained completely silent. Her chest rose and fell quickly, but she refused to turn her head to look at him.
"Tell me who it was. Who did you let inside you on our wedding night? Was it one of your wealthy little corporate friends? Was it a business partner?" Liam demanded. He struck the hard dashboard with his closed fist.
The car swerved slightly on the empty road. The woman hit the brakes hard before accelerating again. Her delicate shoulders were rigid and tense.
"You really thought I was just some idiot you could control. A poor loser you could keep as a trophy husband to look good for the press, while you got heavily railed by other men in the dark. Well, the joke is over," Liam snarled. His eyes were wide and manic.
The heavy silence from the driver seat stretched on. It made his blood boil even hotter.
"I have the DNA results right in my office. One of our girls is not mine. You cannot deny your whoring ways anymore. You ruined my life, you ruined our entire family, and you made me raise another man's daughter as my own," Liam yelled at the top of his lungs. He reached over the console and grabbed her shoulder roughly.
The woman aggressively shook his hand off her body. She steered the vehicle into a brightly lit hotel parking garage and slammed the gearshift into park. She turned off the engine and exited the car without uttering a single word. She walked quickly to his side and yanked the passenger door open.
"Oh, playing the silent victim now? You have zero right to play the victim here," Liam growled. He stumbled clumsily out onto the concrete floor.
The woman wrapped her slender arms around his waist to keep him from falling over. She supported his heavy weight as they walked to the elevator.
They entered a massive, opulent hotel suite on the top floor. The heavy door clicked shut loudly, sealing them inside the dark room. A volatile mix of alcohol, deep despair, and fiery rage took over Liam's brain. He wanted to punish her for what she did.
He shoved the woman hard against the wall. He forcefully smashed his mouth against hers. It was an assault of pure, unbridled anger rather than love.
He expected her to cry or act submissive out of deep guilt. Instead, the woman grabbed his hair tightly and kissed him back with a ravenous, wild hunger. Chloe had always been incredibly reserved and shy in the bedroom. This woman was completely uninhibited. She tore at his shirt, sending buttons flying across the dark room. She wrapped her long legs tightly around his waist, demanding more friction.
"Oh, so you want it rough now? Trying to compensate for being a cheating bitch?" Liam mocked ruthlessly. He gritted his teeth and threw her forcefully onto the giant mattress.
The woman arched her back and let out a loud, needy moan. She pulled him down heavily on top of her naked body.
Liam abandoned all rational thought completely. He vented every single ounce of his humiliation and fury through his physical actions. He was absolutely brutal. He left dark marks on her soft skin and showed absolutely no mercy. Strangely, she matched his violent energy perfectly. She took all of his rage and begged him for more, screaming loudly in pleasure until they both collapsed in a pool of sweat.
Blinding morning sunlight poured through the large floor to ceiling windows. Liam groaned in pure agony. A massive headache pounded relentlessly against his skull. His mouth felt incredibly dry and foul. He slowly opened his eyes and blinked away the heavy blurriness.
He was lying completely naked in an unfamiliar, luxurious bed. The expensive white sheets were heavily tangled and stained.
Liam sat up slowly. He scanned the completely destroyed room. Clothes were violently thrown across the carpeted floor. A shattered glass lamp rested on the ground. It was a scene of total chaos. He rubbed his temples with trembling fingers. He tried very hard to remember how he got there.
He remembered going to the bar alone. He remembered the crushing pain of reading the DNA test. But after he passed out on the bar counter, his memory completely vanished. The entire night was a black void in his mind.
He looked down at his own bare chest. Deep red scratch marks covered his skin. His breath hitched in his throat instantly. He had wild, passionate sex last night. That much was incredibly obvious.
Panic slowly settled deep in his stomach. Did he pick up a random stranger while highly intoxicated? He was so heartbroken and drunk, he truly had no idea what he was capable of doing.
"Did I..." he whispered to himself, staring at the wreckage of the room. "Did I sleep with a stranger?"
He desperately needed to find his clothes and leave the room before the mysterious woman woke up. He swung his legs over the edge of the tall mattress.
But before he could untangle the panic building in his chest, the bathroom door creaked open.
The person who stepped out was none other than Chloe.

Chapter 57: Just as planned
Everything had happened exactly according to her brilliant plan.Earlier, while having lunch with Liam and listening to him declare without any hesitation that he was pursuing a divorce, Serena’s sharp mind had already jumped ten steps ahead. She understood human nature, and the suffocating environment of a shattered home. Even then, she knew with complete confidence that after being subjected to constant legal threats, hotel intrusions, and Chloe’s obsessive, possessive surveillance, a proud, exhausted man like Liam would leave the house sooner or later to find his own space. And Serena had refused to leave his destination to chance. The moment Liam had parted ways with her to return to his clinic, Serena had made a call to her personal estate manager. Within twenty minutes, she had bought the newly finished, fully furnished luxury garden duplex on Pinecrest Hill through one of her private holding companies. She had paid a premium price to close the deed in cash within the hour, an
Chapter 56: The Secret Landlord
After signing the final page of the rental agreement and handing over the modest deposit, Liam held the smooth brass keys in his palm. The agent practically bowed to the floor, thanking him repeatedly for fulfilling an impossible listing that had puzzled her office all morning, before hurriedly driving away in her company sedan.Standing alone in the quiet garden courtyard of the duplex, Liam listened to the wind rustling through the pine branches above. The air smelled of clean earth and fresh leaves, entirely untainted by the suffocating tension that had poisoned every breath he took in the Harrington mansion. His stomach let out a sharp, hollow growl. He had barely eaten all day, and according to the lease he had just signed, he was obligated to prepare dinner for the mysterious owner of the house. Liam had never been a man to break his word or take shortcuts with commitments. Since the landlord had provided him with a sanctuary for a ridiculously cheap rent, the very least he co
Chapter 55: Contract
The agent let out a dry, slightly embarrassed chuckle, scratching her temple with her pen. "Well, sir... you are entirely right. There is indeed a catch," the agent admitted in a low, slightly awkward voice. "The owner has set several highly peculiar, exceptionally rigid personal conditions for the prospective tenant. Most applicants who saw the listing walked away immediately because the requirements are so absurdly specific!" "State them," Liam instructed calmly. "First, the owner does not want a standard tenant who simply pays rent and ignores the house," the agent read off the digital contract notes. "The owner travels frequently for high-level business and requires the tenant to personally cook three fresh, warm, healthy meals a day inside the home and leave them properly covered in the dining pavilion. The tenant must possess top-tier culinary skills and understand nutrition thoroughly." Liam listened quietly. Cooking three meals a day was practically second nature to hi
Chapter 54: The Strange Lease
The heavy front door of the villa slammed shut behind him, cutting off the cries from the second floor. Liam walked down the long stone driveway under the fading afternoon sky, his hands stuffed deep inside his trouser pockets, his knuckles still stinging and throbbing with a dull ache from the force of the blows he had landed on Julian’s smug face. But to be honest, the physical pain was nothing compared to the suffocating numbness spreading throughout his chest.Liam was completely filled with disappointment. In the most vulnerable corner of his battered, he realized that he had secretly been holding onto a sliver of hope all this time. Even after multiple independent laboratory tests had come back negative, a small part of him had desperately wanted to believe that everything was just a nightmare. He wanted so badly for Chloe to be innocent...He had loved her for almost a decade, giving up his future and youthful pride just to stay by her side.Facing it all today, however, s
Chapter 53: Shameless!
She didn't wait for him to respond. With a face full of tender worry, Chloe turned all her attention back to the young man sprawled across the floor. "Julian, are you alright? Where does it hurt? Let me help you up," Chloe coaxed in a soft, urgent voice, wrapping her slender arms around his torso to carefully hoist him off the carpet. Julian leaned heavily against her, gasping for breath as if every movement tore through his muscles. He rested his arm over Chloe’s delicate shoulder, pressing his side against hers with calculated familiarity. And then, as Chloe buried her head slightly to support his waist, Julian slowly lifted his chin. From right behind Chloe’s back, where her gaze could not reach, Julian looked straight into Liam’s eyes. The look of agony vanished instantly from Julian's handsome face. His lips curled upward, pulling into a wide, venomous, and deeply mocking grin. His dark eyes glittered with pure, triumphant malice, practically screaming in silent mockery
Chapter 52: The Real Blow
The moment those words left his lips, Chloe’s chest caved in. She had seen Liam angry before; she had seen him argue, raise his voice, and demand answers with furious tears. But she had never, in their entire ten years together, seen him look so broken and distant, like she might run for miles and still won't be able to reach him, cutting her off from his heart forever. "No, Liam... wait," Chloe stammered frantically, the arrogant mask of the wealthy CEO crumbling into dust as she stepped forward, reaching her hands out toward him in desperate remorse. "I... I didn't mean those threats, I was just angry... please, listen to me, I didn't—" Before she could finish her frantic explanation, Julian abruptly stepped in. The young therapist moved swiftly, placing his tall, broad frame directly between Liam and Chloe, effectively cutting off her desperate attempt to touch her husband. Julian lowered his head with an expression of profound, exaggerated remorse, putting on a saintly,
