Chloe walked out of the bathroom wrapped in a white hotel towel, with her long silky hair cascading over her shoulders.

"You finally woke up, honey. You were so wild and passionate last night," Chloe said. Her voice tone was exceptionally sweet and tender as she sat gracefully on the edge of the mattress.

"What are you doing here?" Liam asked. His voice tone was ice cold and raspy as he pulled the bedsheet up to his chest.

"You called me in tears last night and begged me to come to this hotel suite. How could I turn you down? Afterwards…”

A soft, affectionate smile appeared on her face as she reached out her hand to touch his cheek.

“We spent the entire night together, and your passion made me feel so sweet and fulfilled.”

Chloe was still speaking when Liam pulled his head away from her touch. He grabbed his mobile phone from the nightstand, and checked his recent call history.

A feeling of deep confusion washed over his mind when he saw an outgoing call to Chloe timestamped at midnight. Given his shattered state of mind after learning the truth about the twins, he would never have initiated contact with her, let alone suggested rekindling their intimacy.

He also had a vague, lingering memory from the dark room last night. He remembered running his fingers through short hair while holding the woman in his arms, but Chloe clearly had long hair down to her waist. Did his drunken brain remember the physical details completely wrong? Although he could not make sense of the situation, he had no solid leads or proof right now, so he could only set the matter aside for now.

In response to his wife acting warm and affectionate, Liam remained completely cold and distant. He reached into his coat pocket on the floor and pulled out the folded laboratory document.

"Take a look at this and explain yourself," Liam demanded. His facial expression was hard and devoid of any warmth.

Chloe took the paper and glanced at it. She read the conclusion, then let out a small, amused laugh. She folded the paper in half, tore it neatly in two, then folded and tore it again, letting the pieces flutter onto the bed.

"Alright, that's enough joking around," Chloe said, her tone light, as if she were indulging a child's prank. "I'm full. Let's go home."

Liam stared at her, incredulous. "You think this is a joke?"

"Of course it's a joke," Chloe said, smiling. "You can't seriously expect me to believe that one of our daughters isn't yours."

"Those results were confirmed through multiple rounds of testing at my medical center and independent labs. There is zero room for error," Liam said through gritted teeth.

Chloe's smile faded slightly. She looked at him more closely, as if trying to figure out if he was still playing along. "Liam, you're a doctor. You know labs make mistakes. Samples get mixed up. This is ridiculous."

"Then explain the science," Liam said coldly. "Heteropaternal superfecundation. Two eggs, two different fathers. One of them is me. The other is a stranger. How else could this happen?"

Chloe shook her head slowly, a hint of annoyance creeping into her expression. "I don't have to explain anything. I've never been unfaithful to you. Not once. I don't know what happened with those tests, but they're wrong."

"Wrong? The science doesn't lie, Chloe."

"Science doesn't lie, but people make mistakes," Chloe said, her voice tightening. "You're my husband. You're supposed to trust me. Why are you so quick to believe some lab report over me?"

Liam's voice rose. "Because I've seen the results with my own eyes! I supervised the testing myself!"

Chloe stood up, her composure cracking. "And I'm telling you, I have never betrayed you. I don't know what happened, but I know what I did and didn't do. I love you, Liam. I chose you. I chose to marry you despite what my family said. And now you're accusing me of this?"

"You're not denying the results," Liam said. "You're just saying they're wrong."

"Because they are wrong!" Chloe's voice rose, her eyes turning red. "How am I supposed to deny something I didn't do? I don't have an explanation for you. All I can tell you is the truth. And the truth is, I have never been with another man."

Liam looked away. "I've had enough of this. We're getting a divorce."

Chloe stared at him in disbelief. "Divorce? You're going to throw away our marriage because of a piece of paper? What about the children? They're still so young. How can you just walk away from them?"

"I'm not joking around," Liam said firmly. "One of those children isn't mine. How am I supposed to live with that?"

Chloe's expression hardened. Her earlier hurt turned into something colder. "I don't care about your test results. I know those girls are yours. Stop this nonsense right now. Let's go home."

"I'm not going back with you. Not until you tell me the truth."

Chloe grabbed his arm, her grip firm. "Liam, you're coming home with me right now. You've been drinking too much, and you're not thinking straight. I'm not going to listen to any more of this."

Liam pulled his arm away. "You still won't admit it. Fine."

Chloe's face flushed with anger. "Those children are yours. Both of them. I am not agreeing to a divorce. You have to apologize to me first. Or I won't forgive you for insulting me like this."

She turned and stormed out of the room, slamming the door hard behind her.

Liam sat alone in the silent room. The nagging doubt about last night still bothered him. He dressed quickly and went down to the lobby.

"I need to review the hallway security footage for the top floor from last night," Liam said to the receptionist. "It's a personal matter."

"I'm sorry, sir, but we cannot show you the security recordings due to guest privacy policies," the receptionist replied politely but firmly.

Liam gave up and walked out of the hotel. But as he stepped onto the sidewalk, he caught sight of a woman walking ahead of him. Her figure and posture looked strikingly like Chloe's—but this woman had short hair, cut above her shoulders.

Startled, Liam moved to approach her, but before he could take more than a few steps, the woman climbed into a yellow taxi and sped off into the city traffic.

Liam stood frozen, his mind racing. How could this be a coincidence? A woman who looked exactly like his wife, appearing near the same hotel where he'd spent a confusing night? Could it be that the person he'd been with last night wasn't Chloe at all, but someone else entirely?

Liam had barely closed the door of his hotel room when he heard footsteps rushing down the hallway behind him. He turned just as Chloe's face appeared around the corner, her heels clicking frantically against the marble floor."Liam, wait!" She called out, slightly out of breath. "Can we talk about this like adults? Please!”"There is nothing left to talk about." Liam said, not bothering to hide the exhaustion in his voice. He pushed the door open and stepped inside, but she followed him in anyway, refusing to be shut out.“I know you are upset, and I see why. We both said some things we shouldn't have, and I'm sorry for accusing you like that. But you should also know that asking for a divorce right there, in front of everyone… it shocked them. I mean, it shocked me too! You shouldn't have spoken to dad in that way, it was so rude. He has always treated you well, and you repaid him by demanding money and causing a scene in our home!”Chloe complained, hoping he would empathise with

Richard immediately stepped in to defend his daughter, glaring at Liam like he was slandering his little girl on purpose.“Of course it is all false!” Richard insisted loudly. “My daughter would never do such a shameful thing, this man is making up lies to destroy our family name! There is no way any of this is true!”Everyone in the room turned their eyes toward Liam. Accusations poured out from all sides.“See! Even my parents know I can't ever cheat on you, how the hell can't you see the truth, despite being married to me? Or it is because you forged those documents yourself, is that why you are insisting on it?”Chloe shouted. “Tell me the truth, Liam?”Richard agreed, “Exactly! He must have paid someone to fake the results in order to extort money from our family! How hard is that these days?”Even Grace looked at him with suspicion now.“Did you really forge the papers, Liam?” She asked in a disappointed tone, only for Richard to scoff loudly. “Do you even need to ask him? Richard shouted, his hand still raised, shaking with fury. "We took you in, treated you like family! And this whole time you were just waiting for the right moment to bleed us dry?"Liam's cheek was stinging with pain, and a red mark quickly appeared on his skin. He tasted a little blood in his mouth, but didn't say a single word in his defense. He straightened without a word, locking his jaw tightly. “Got nothing to say, you damn bastard?!” Richard cursed him loudly. “How dare you come into my house and demand money from my wife and daughter? You are nothing but a low-class cattle we brought in by mistake!”He was raging like a storm, and Chloe rushed forward, panicked at his condition.“Liam, apologize to my father right now!” She spoke sharply, feeling overwhelmed at her father's outburst. He was panting and red in the face with anger, and the sight worried Chloe tremendously. “You know he's a heart patient, still you're provoking him? If something happens to my dad, who will b

“Grace, please try to understand. I'm not against Chloe, in fact, I'm also doing this for her own good.” Liam spoke, his voice rising with frustration. “I just can't understand, why can't she just come clean? If she really loves another man, she can just admit it and be with the person she really wants. Why do you want her to keep lying, and forcing me to raise a child that is not mine? What's the point of continuing this fake marriage?”Grace’s eyes flickered with a brief moment of doubt. She looked away for a second before answering.“I don't know what you are talking about. I truly don't know about any of this.”Then, deciding something, she picked up her phone from the table. “Chloe, come home right now,” Grace said into the phone, keeping her voice firm and urgent. “Your husband is here, and we need to talk about something important.”After ending the call, Grace dialed another number. This time, it was for her husband.“Come back to the house immediately. Something serious has

Grace looked down at the papers he had put on the table, and glanced at Liam with a worried expression.“What is this? And why do you look so troubled, dear?” Liam had always known Grace as a reasonable woman, who treated him with real kindness over the years. He believed she would listen carefully and help him mediate the divorce. And so, with a heavy heart, he prepared to speak the painful truth. “Grace… one of the twins is not biologically mine. You know that I have raised both girls with all my heart. But the DNA test shows that only one is biologically related to me, while the other—”“How can you say such a terrible thing!?”Grace’s face was twisted with anger as she cut him off, looking at him with disbelief. “How dare you say that about my daughter? Chloe loves you, and everyone in the family knows how devoted she is to you and the children. She even went against the family elders to marry you! Liam, you must be out of your mind to accuse her of cheating like this!”Liam fe

Liam's tone was quiet, but the bitterness bled through every word.Chloe let out a short breath, almost a laugh, but not quite. "You think those chores are worth a billion dollars? Liam, I loved you. I still love you. But this—this is not love. This is something else. You are asking for money. You are saying I owe you for everything you did around the house. That is not how a marriage works.""I turned down the exclusive offer to become the Medical Sage's personal disciple so I could stay home and cook your meals every single night," Liam said, his voice low and steady. "Do you know where his actual disciple is today? That man is a celebrity physician who only treats billionaires. He charges a million dollars for a single consultation.
