“You’re a werewolf now.”
The words hit him with such force that the world seemed to tilt. Wesley’s mind blanked…
‘Werewolf.’
‘Werewolf.’
His pulse spiked violently, panic surging up his spine as the word echoed in his mind. ‘Werewolf?’
He subconsciously stepped back, knees weak and sweat pooling on his forehead.
‘No! It can’t be…I’m not a-’ Wesley wanted to deny, but his brain betrayed him with a flood of memories that seemed to slap the denial out of him.
He remembered the wolf that’d attacked him last night. He remembered the bite, and how he’d woken up in a pool of his own blood just this morning—proof of how he’d been mortally wounded by that wolf. And strangely, he had no wounds on him.
As if-
As if he’d healed someway.
Wesley’s chest tightened painfully.
‘No.No, no-’
He sucked in a breath, ready to deny it still. Anything to escape the possibility of him being a werewolf. How could he believe that? It has to be a prank!
Wesley subconsciously looked at the girl to see if she meant what she said.
But she shook her head slowly and clicked her tongue.
“Don’t try to hide it.” She said.
She stepped away from him, turning to face the pond in the distance with her hands clasped behind her back like a commander surveying a battlefield.
“I can smell the scent of a werewolf on you.”
Wesley froze.
“S-smell…?” He muttered in confusion, not inquiry.
She turned her head, eyes glinting.
“Your scent. You smell like a werewolf now.” She paused, Wesley’s heart pounding rapidly. But she wasn’t done, “After all, I’m one too.” She added.
The world dropped out from under Wesley. He staggered back a step.
‘She’s a what?’ His heartbeat thundered violently and his throat tightened.
A cold, primal fear swept through his veins.
‘She is a werewolf! A real one!’ Wesley’s eyes widened at the girl. Standing right in front of him, for some reason, he had no doubts that she was lying.
He’d read many books. He knew the legends, the cursed folklore.
And in most of them, werewolves were savage, monstrous, and wild.
And right now… He was alone in the woods with one.
Wesley felt that her eyes that looked at him seemed sharper now.
Her presence felt predatory in a way that made something instinctive inside him recoil and lean forward at the same time.
He swallowed hard. And the girl seemed to notice.
“ Hahaha!” she laughed. It was a soft, airy, amused giggle that left Wesley disarmed.
“I didn’t expect your reaction to be ‘this’ dramatic.” She jeered.
Heat flooded Wesley’s cheeks; embarrassment mixing with fear.
Before he could respond, she walked toward him, steps slow and unthreatening.
“Calm down,” she said quietly. “If being a werewolf were as bad as you’re imagining, you wouldn’t be standing right now. You’d be tearing through campus, killing everyone.”
Wesley’s brows raised in realization, her words made sense.
Realizing it wasn’t as bad as it seems, Wesley sagged his shoulders slightly with the first breath of relief he’d had since meeting this girl. His worry and fear diminished with his sigh.
But now, a dozen questions rushed in to fill the space.
“So… I’m really a werewolf now?” Wesley’s voice cracked as he asked. The girl nodded, her face blank as if stating the obvious.
Wesley was silent for a moment, until he found his voice and asked, “…What does that even mean? What is it like to be a werewolf?”
The girl exhaled dramatically. “If you ask me, I’d say it’s nothing really special.” She waved a hand lazily and shrugged.
“Just extra strength, heightened senses… all the boring stuff.”
Then she stepped closer, too close, again. Her eyes pierced straight into Wesley’s, glinting with a hint of amused incitement. And with her voice dipped lower, she said:
“But for you? It will change ‘everything’.”
Wesley blinked.
“…Everything?” He asked, confused.
She nodded.
“Super strength, super speed, and genetic enhancement that’ll make you stronger and significantly hotter over time.”
“You, my dear, would become better than Ethan.” She finished with a sly smile.
Wesley’s breath caught. And like a gullible fan being sold the Hollywood dream, he questioned in interest. “Better?”
“Stronger. Faster. Hotter. And much more dominant...” She tilted her chin up confidently then, her gaze slid down him and back up with a slight, unimpressed squint. “Though… there’s a lot of work to do on you before that’ll ever happen.”
Wesley flushed again, unsure whether to feel insulted or terrified.
“What do you mean?” he asked. “What is all of this for?”
She lifted her chin proudly, and stepped even closer, now right beneath his chin, looking up at him with that eyes that left Wesley frigid. “ What I mean is, you’re joining the college hockey team.” She poked a finger at his chest.
It took a while for her words to register in Wesley’s mind as he was lost in her eyes. But when it did, he nearly choked on his own breath.
The hockey team?!
The sacred land of the big boys in college?
The fort of the stars and the top class alpha males in college?
Ethan’s kingdom?
Wesley stared at the girl like she was insane.
But before he could protest, she said:
“Relax. You’re a werewolf. Other than Ethan and maybe a couple of meatheads, no one on that team could touch you once you learn control.”
Wesley blinked, bewildered and almost choking on his disbelief.
Hearing her, a part of him wondered if it could be true.
Wesley was quite into hockey, he used to play in high school but he never was that big or good.
The girl must have sensed his interest, because she smirked and said, “You’ll see.”
Then her tone shifted into a lighter, almost mischievous one. “But more importantly…” She raised a finger and half-turned away from Wesley.
Wesley frowned, a part of him feeling the next words that’d come out of her mouth would give him stroke. And just then, she turned her face to look at him and said.
“We’re dating now.”
Wesley’s entire system short-circuited.
His jaw dropped and his lungs forgot air existed.
“W-what-?!” Wesley exclaimed, his head shot forward and eyes widened incredibly and all.
Bu she just rolled her eyes.
“Fake dating, obviously.”
“Not like a loser like you could ever be with me.” She added with a deadpan expression.
Oddly, that insult felt like relief to Wesley.
He exhaled shakily, heart almost bursting from the constant pounding.
Wesley frowned when he realized something. “…So this is all a revenge plan? Against Ethan and Emma?” He asked, voice skeptical. It made sense now that he thought about the whole ‘I’ll make you the hottest, most popular guy in school while we’re fake dating.’
And just as Wesley thought, for the first time since they met, the girl’s expression faltered and she hesitated.
Something flickered across her face. It wasn’t anger, not smugness, but something tight and uncomfortable.
Her arms folded around herself subtly, gaze drifting away.
Wesley’s stomach sank at this. It seems he’s hit something personal.
“Sorry,” he blurted quickly, hands lifting. “ I wasn’t trying to pry. I was just trying to understand what I’m getting myself into.”
The girl raised her gaze and blinked at him, genuinely surprised.
Then she looked away again, this time softer.
“…It’s fine.”
Silence stretched in this fragile moment.
Then she inhaled deeply and reset her posture, sliding her confidence back into place like a mask.
“Yes, it’s revenge. And from now on,” she said briskly, “you’ll hold my hand in public, kiss me if needed, and show up whenever I call.” She pointed a finger at him as she said.
“In return, I’ll make you an alpha. A star in this campus.”
Wesley felt something strange then...
Something akin to a tremor of awe, a crackle of fear, and a pull of fascination.
A pretty girl was offering him power, confidence, and transformation.
It felt like shaking hands with a devil wearing lip gloss, cosplaying angel.
He didn’t answer for a long time.
Not because he couldn’t. But because he didn’t know what “yes” would become.
But in the end, he raised his gaze and said:
“…I can’t promise I’ll be good at any of this.” He swallowed. “But… I’ll try.”
Hearing Wesley, the girl’s smile bloomed, bright, confident, dazzling, and slightly sinister.
The kind of smile that could ruin someone.
“Don’t worry,” she said softly.
“That’s my job.”

Who?
Night crawled slowly across campus, tinting the sky in deep bruised darkness with a tinge of light as Wesley made his way down the dim path leading toward the woods. The air was cooler now, crisp enough to sting lightly against his cheeks. His hands were tucked into his hoodie pockets; his “best” attire. Standing next to her earlier in the morning had felt too painfully inadequate. Wesley remembered to not let that be the case again this time.He walked with uneven steps, half-dreading and half-excited, his thoughts noisy and tangled.' What does she want to do tonight? Are we going to practice being a werewolf and what it's about? Why did I even agree to this?'On his way, he rehearsed questions in his head. Questions that had been on his mind since afternoon, questions he should have asked her earlier in the mornin. About werewolves, about what he’d turned into, about the strange instincts that kept flaring inside him. She was the only person he could talk to about any
Determination
Wesley pushed into his dorm feeling fatigued. He expected to meet his roommate, Ralph, but only the quiet walls greeted him with a wave of silence. His roommate was gone, probably off to class or the gym or wherever normal people with normal lives went at this hour. For once, Wesley was grateful. Silence was exactly what he needed at the moment. He stepped inside and shut the door gently behind him, leaning against it for a moment. His pulse was still unsettled, beating in uneven thumps as his mind replayed his encounter with that pretty girl.‘I’m a werewolf…’She had said it casually, like someone telling him he had forgotten to tie his shoelace, and it only left him confused as to the truth of it.Wesley dragged himself to the bed and collapsed face-first into the thin mattress. He stayed that way for a while, breathing into the fabric, letting the exhaustion sink into him. He had classes to attend, he probably should have gone to at least take some notes…but how was he supposed to

What you are now
Wesley didn’t realize he’d stood up until he noticed the scrape of his chair on the cafeteria floor. The girl was already walking away, unbothered by the looks she’d stirred up. He followed her because his body seemed to have chosen for him, still buzzing from embarrassment, still trapped somewhere between panic and the lingering warmth of her breath against his ear.The cafeteria doors shut behind them, muting the chatter inside. The air outside was cooler and quieter, it left him feeling a bit relieved. She walked ahead with long, confident strides, her long hair swaying like she didn’t have a single question or doubt in the world. Wesley trailed a few steps behind, every heartbeat reminding him he had far too many problems at hand.' Why him? What did she want? How did she know about him liking Emma?' His thoughts kept loopingAnd beneath that he questioned the feeling in his chest, 'Why does it feel like the air around her pulls me in?' Like he couldn't resist for some r
Strange girl
Wesley stared at the girl like she had spoken in another language when she said she could help him get Emma back. His brain stalled, tripped over itself, and finally shut down entirely.“W-what?” he croaked, voice cracking in incredulity. The girl rolled her eyes, looking at Wesley as if he was denying something so obvious that it made him look stupid and lame.Heat rushed up Wesley's neck at his own fumble. He tried to recover, tried to pretend he wasn’t just seconds away from imploding just now.“I don’t…" He paused realizing he'd be feeding right into it. " What are you talking about even?” "Her." The girl pointed right towards Emma, her expression as dry as cement. Wesley sucked his teeth, he said fast, waving his hand dismissively. “I’m not-- no, that's not it...”He tried to deny, but his tone was unconvincing, even to himself." I don't need anything or anyone." He stabbed a forkful of food, shooting his head down as if to ignore everything else even though
Crushed
By the time class ended, Wesley's brain felt like it had been dragged across gravel. Everyone else seemed completely normal, packing their bags, joking with friends, drifting into little clumps of conversation that floated toward the hallway. Him? He just sat there, staring at the blank page on his notebook like there was something written on it that only he understood. ' Maybe I'm just overthinking everything. I should go eat first for a change. Maybe I'm just hungry...' He forced himself to stand, slung his bag over his shoulder, and followed the stream of students out of the lecture hall. His legs felt strangely light, as if he'd lost too much weight. Not only that, every sound around was just sharp in his ears. The scrape of chair legs, the echoing footsteps, even the fluorescent buzz overhead. It all felt… amplified. ' Is this paranoia?' Wesley wondered, fighting the urge to press his palms to his ears so as to not look crazy. He refused to be
