Mason sat on his seat at the back of the class as he went through his books. And for the first time since he began Avalon school, he was able to read at peace without anyone coming to disturb him.

Soon though, the school bell rang indicating that the school break was over. And a few moments later, the student in class D began trooping into the class just as Mr Gibson, the history teacher came walking in.

"Ugh, history class again!" A girl with raven coloured hair complained while the whole class bursted out laughing.

"I know you hate history class Debby, but I'm sorry to break it to you, the school pays me to do my job so I'm going to do my job." Mr Gibson replied with a smile as he dropped the history textbook on the table while moving to the front of the table.

"Today is going to be different everyone because we are not going to talk about the history of earth like we normally do in our classes but about the history of the dragon bloods, their weakness, strength and how they can be defeated." Mr Gibson said as he moved in between rows while everyone else seemed to get relaxed as if waiting for the lesson to begin. Even Mason was interested as he had always been his wish to fight against the dragon bloods.

"Like everyone must have guessed right now, the entire world does not truly know the origin of the dragon bloods or where they came from. All we know is that they came to earth hundred of years ago, creaking havoc and destroying all that stood in their sight. Their physical forms are just like that of humans but they are unlike anything you've ever seen or Heard of." Mr Gibson said and paused as he took a look at everyone's faces. And seeing that he had gotten their interest already, he took a deep breathe before continuing.

"The dragon bloods differs from one another and have three different skin colours, each one much more stronger than the next. They are the tan skin, the green skin and the black skin. The ones with the tan skin are tall and muscular like the rest but with piercing serpent eyes and two long horns on their head. They possess pointed ears and can only be defeated by a level 5 ability users and above. The ones with green skin have the same form as the first one but with a tail and scaly skin. They can only be defeated by level 7 ability users and above while the black skin dragon bloods are much more powerful than the rest. They have all the forms of the other two but with strange markings and a crest on their back. They are much more powerful and can only be defeated by a level 8.5 ability users and above. But they all have the same weaknesses, they are vulnerable to magic. So does with the mage ability or saint ability can easily defeat them depending on their levels. Another way to defeat them is to use weapons created from their bones or bones of other high mutated beast. Aside from these, dragon bloods cannot be defeated."

Mr Gibson took a deep breathe as he finished explaining. He could tell from everyone's faces that they were indeed satisfied by his today's lessons. And indeed he was right, everyone was really satisfied. Although they had just learnt of how powerful dragon bloods really were, they were happy to know their weaknesses as well.

Mason on the other hand could not believe his ears, he was really thrilled by everything he had just learned. Becoming a level 7 ability user and above was by no way an easy thing as many got stuck after reaching level 6. Leveling up after that took a lot of time and hard work and only a quite few could achieve that. And this just proved that dragon bloods were indeed really powerful, even much more than he imagined.

"Can I really defeat something like that?" Mason wondered but quickly push the thought away. There was no way he was going to let that stop him. He was going to train and work really hard to become powerful. Besides he had the system now which meant he now had a chance.

"Okay everyone, that's that." Mr Gibson said and was about to leave when he suddenly remembered something.

"I have an announcement to make everyone. For those among you who wish to join the neohuman Force and become a hunter. The acceptance exams is coming up in a month. The requirements is to be an ability user and at least a level 1.5. if you're interested, then get a form from the central office and fill it out."

With that, Mr Gibson turned and existed the class, leaving the entire class stunned by the news. Mason on the other hand couldn't hide the joy he was feeling right now. This was his chance, the one he had always been waiting for. But although it was finally here, Mason couldn't help but feel a bit sad about that.

Although he had gotten the system, he still could not figure out what his ability was and how it work. And until he did, he wasn't sure what would happen.

"Hey, you're Mason right? Are you going to try it out?" A voice asked from besides him and Mason turned to see who it was. It was Caleb, a boy with dirty blonde hair and a pointy nose. Strange, Mason thought, although the boy had just transferred to the school, he had never spoken to him before.

"Are you talking to me?" Mason asked with a surprise look and the boy nodded.

"Of course. And I heard what you did to Drake by the way, well we all did. And I just want to say thank you, he really deserved it."

"Yeah. Well, he had it coming anyway. It was only a matter of time before someone did it." Mason replied while scratching his head. It was really awkward talking to someone at Avalon school since he was used to being alone.

"How did you do it by the way? I know you're not an ability user. Or did you awaken one?" Caleb asked and Mason chuckled nervously.

"Of course not. I was just lucky." Mason lied. Well, technically it wasn't a lie as he still did not know what ability he had yet.

"Well, that's quite the luck you got there." Caleb said and they both laughed. "Well, I'm Caleb, Caleb Fae."

"Mason Blackwood." Mason replied as they shook hands.

"So? Are you going to try it out or not? The acceptance Exams I mean."

"I'm not sure about that." Mason replied. "I'm not an ability user and I don't have the required funds so,"

"Come on, cheer up. The exam is one month away. And that's pretty long if you ask me. Anything can happen before then you know? So do not give up just yet." Caleb said and Mason smiled. Somehow he could tell that Caleb was a good guy and that perhaps , they might one day become good friends in the future.

  • Night Has Come

In the long hours leading up to midnight, Mason stood before the broad mirror, dressed in a black suit that complemented the mask on his face. [Intermediate Gauntlets Equipped]The system announced, and Mason took a deep breath as he examined the gauntlets that had now appeared on his arms. Like the previous ones, the intermediate gauntlets were red in color and identical to the basic ones he'd just lost - with the only difference being the significant boost in defense and attack—two times more than what the basic ones had to offer. However, as he kept staring at them, Mason wondered if they'd be enough for what lay ahead tonight. His last gauntlets had been damaged by Carl Wallace's intense punches, after their intense battle at the Dead Grounds. And as night approached, something told him he'd be facing even more formidable opponents than Carl Wallace tonight. "I guess we have to see about that," Mason thought as he took another deep breath, before walking towards the open window

  • A Dreamwalker

"And that just about covers everything," Maya said after she had finished explaining her dreams to Aunt Vanessa and the woman whose name she still didn't know yet."So let me get this straight, you said you started having these dreams after meeting Jasper and Mason, correct?" Aunt Vanessa asked with a serious expression, and Maya nodded."And these boys, what are they?" Maya hesitated for a while as Aunt Vanessa asked the question, wondering why she had even asked it in the first place or what it had to do with the dreams she was having. But when she thought of the terrible dream she'd had and her reason for being here, Maya decided to tell her everything."Jasper is an original, from the house of Vaughn," she began and took a deep breath as Aunt Vanessa raised a brow."As for Mason... Well, it's hard to explain.""I'm a witch, Maya, trust me, I can handle hard. So just take your time and tell me everything. The more detailed it is, the better," Aunt Vanessa assured her, and Maya nodd

  • A Witch

"Welcome home, Maya. We've been waiting for you," Aunt Vanessa said with a warm smile, and Maya found herself staring in surprise."You were expecting me?" Maya asked, her voice laced with shock and confusion. How on earth could they have expected her to come if she had told no one she was coming? Or had her dad told them she was coming after she had left home? Maya wondered, but quickly decided to leave it at that and move on to the more important task at hand."My dad told me I could find you here. Please, I need your help, Aunty. Something's happening to me, and I can't explain it," Maya added, hoping Aunt Vanessa could provide some answers. But Aunt Vanessa just stood there, taking a quick, piercing stare at her. "The eyes of a newborn. I see. You've just awakened," she said with a knowing smile and Maya cocked a brow, confused. "What?""Come on in, Maya. Like I said, we've been waiting for you," Aunt Vanessa said, stepping aside to let Maya enter."Waiting for me? What do you mea

  • Finding Vanessa

Mr. Freyborn stood at the edge of his balcony, gazing up at the stars in the night sky as the sound of passing vehicles hummed through the streets. It was 8 pm now - an hour since Maya had left for Cole City, headed to her aunt's place in search of answers. And as Mr. Freyborn stood there, gazing up at the stars, he wished she'd find the answers she sought."Please, Martha—please watch over our little girl," Mr. Freyborn whispered under his breath, gazing up at the stars as a single tear rolled down his cheek. He knew exactly what Maya was and the kind of answers she'd find where she was headed. He had prayed every single day of his life that this day would never come, and that she'd never awaken to her true nature. His wife had done all she could to shield Maya from this life, allowing her to live a normal life, but it appeared fate had other plans. He could only wish now that the heavens would watch over his daughter and protect her from all harm. As her journey from here on out was

"Here, drink this. It will help with the headache," Mr. Freyborn said, handing Maya a cup of yellow tea as she sat on her bed. Maya took the cup and gulped down the tea, feeling it burn her palate like a smooth flame. Warmth spread through her body, all the way down her chest, and a few seconds later, her headache disappeared, as if it was never there."What is it?" Maya asked, returning the cup. The tea tasted different from any other tea she'd had. It was sour and bitter, but worked like magic. And she could feel her body buzzing with energy."It's Namal tea, a specialty of your grandma's," Mr. Freyborn replied. "Your mom taught me how to make it several years ago."Maya smiled at the mention of her mom's name. Ever since they'd lost her, her dad rarely spoke about her, leaving Maya wondering if he still hadn't gotten over her death. But after all these years, she was happy he was finally talking about her."I miss her too, Dad," Maya said, staring at her mom's portrait beside her b

  • Gluttony

"What are you talking about, Maya? What do you mean by 'we are all going to die'?" Mason asked as he settled on the bed beside her, wondering what she meant by that. Everyone else had their eyes on her, curious about why she was suddenly saying that."I... I had a dream, Mason, and in that dream, I saw you and Jasper die," Maya said with fear in her voice and Mason could swear he could smell it on her body."Like you said, Maya, it's just a dream," Mason said, and Jasper nodded from where he sat."He's right, Maya, it's just a dream. Nothing bad is going to happen to us, okay?""You don't understand, okay? It's not just a dream," Maya snapped with fear in her voice and immediately broke down to crying."I've been getting these dreams lately, and I fear they are not just ordinary dreams. They feel more real than you can imagine, and I fear it might turn out to be true, and... and then, I might lose you two," Maya explained as more tears flowed down her eyes and Mason wondered if this w
