The Training

"Shian I've told you several times, if you swing too hard you'll leave an opening for your opponent to counterattack." said Charles, Shian's sick father.

"Huff Huff Huff, I keep trying but I... " Shian didn't even get the chance to express himself before he was cut short by his father.

"No buts. Again from the beginning." Bellowed Charles

Charles was very strict with his son's training because he knew he didn't have much time and he wished to maximize the little one he had with him to prepare him before he was gone.

Shian and his sick father practiced for several hours every day with a variety of weapons before he had to do a ten kilometer run, then lift one thousand, two hundred and fifty kilograms of weight.

Ever since he had been practicing with his father at the age of five, he had been doing several types of exercises and lifting a high amount of weights that a normal child of five couldn't, but in the world of today people were stronger than the previous average humans after the Seven Deadly Sins blessed the human race with abilities, that was just one of the reasons that Shian could lift such a huge amount of weight.

The other reason was because of the fact that his mother left him and his sick father to fend for themselves when they needed her the most, that was what drove him to do several 'impossible' tasks, to be able to take care of his dying father before his inevitable death.

Shian was doing one of such arduous exercises. He was doing the ten kilometer run and was panting heavily but kept up because he wished to attend the Seven Deadly Sins Academy, the place where he believed he could become strong enough to change his families fortune even if he knew his father, his only family, was going to die.

He wanted to make sure he gave his father a good life, but unknown to him, his father was going to die sooner than he expected.

The ten kilometer run was actually a simple looking exercise, but that was far from the truth, he first had to run from their old house to the edge of the forest, then from the forest to the top of a high mountain then back to their old house.

Even as charles had brain tumor and got easily fatigued, due to his speed ability, he was able to keep up with Shian and always followed him when he was going just in case of any beast attack.

The beasts of today were evolved forms of normal animals. When the Seven Deadly Sins spread their powers, some of the animals also tapped into the energy and evolved into what they were today. Some of them even evolved into Legendary and Mythical beasts.

Shian, although lazy sometimes, completed the run and got back home with his father to complete his other daily task of lifting 1,500kilograms of weight.

They had a large boulder in which they used to sit on to watch the nightsky. The boulder weighed about 300kg so he had to lift it five times. Shian went beside the boulder, bent and placed his hands beneath it.

"Arghh." With a groan Shian used his whole strength to lift up the boulder.

"One, two, three" Charles counted.

Shian didn't just have to lift it, but he also had to hold it in that position for three seconds.

"This....is..so...hard." Shian said in between shaky breaths. "I've got this."

Shian's legs were wobbling and shaking like a high powered vibrator.

"Ok, I don't think I've got this" Shian said quickly as the boulder came crashing down on him.

Luckily for him, his father used his super speed to get by his side and pull him away before he was crushed by it.

"Phew, that was a close call." Shian said happily. "Thanks dad, I don't k...SHIT!!!"

"What?!!!" Charles questioned while raising his guard up thinking there was a beast attack.

"Where's my shirt!?" Shian asked while frantically looking around for it. His well toned ectomorphic physique was being displayed.

Due to all the training he received from his father, his body was perfectly built like a killing machine ready to strike at any prior notification.

Stunned! Perplexed! Bewildered! Amazed! Shocked! Flabbergasted!.

That was how Charles felt at that moment.

'Did he just panick because he couldn't find his shirt' Charles thought. 'Did he hit his head or something.'

"I don't remember taking it off, or did I?" Shian turned to his father for an answer.

"Well. When I pulled you, your shirt got stuck on a sharp edge of the boulder and it tore off from your body. There was nothing I could do about it." Charles said apologetically. "Don't worry I'll get you a new one."

"When I have the money." Charles muttered to himself in a very low tone thinking only he could hear, but unfortunately for him, Shian heard him loud and clear.

"But dad." He complained.

"Stop whining and get back to work....Cough! Cough!"

Shian turned around to see his father coughing out thick black blood. Shian dashed towards him and caught him before he fell.

Since the descent of abilities, the evolved physique of human beings reacted differently to sickness and diseases. Though humans barely fall sick, when they do, it was very deadly and they were isolated to prevent the spread of the disease.

But in the case of Charles, he was forgotten by the authorities owing to the fact that he was at the extreme end of the city, were they didn't care what went about there.

"Are you okay." Shian said to his father but didn't get a reply before he passed out. He carefully carried him into their house and placed him on a bed. Shian quickly ran out of the building to get a healer.

If Shian ran at his full speed, it'll take him approximately twenty-five minutes to get to the healer and come back. Although he could have just called one using a phone, they didn't have one which showed just how poor they were. They couldn't afford to board a taxi so they had to trek into the city to get groceries because their old house was at the extreme end of the city.

The healer that they paid to be treating Charles was a low leveled one, the worst of the worst, just paying the healer alone sometimes was a problem.

2 Hours Later

A man in a green and white nurse attire could be seen in an old house with his hands, which were giving off a whitish glow, on top of another man's chest.

It was obviously the healer with Shian's father, Charles. The healer had been trying to revive Charles for over an hour but Charles wasn't responding positively.

Shian could be seen pacing back and forth, at one point he sat down only for him to stand up almost immediately and continue pacing back and forth.

Charles once again opened his eyes faintly but closed it back, this had been happening over and over but the healer didn't fail to notice it this time and take advantage of it. The whitish glow around his hands intensified and Charles once again opened his eyes.

He raised his hand and called out weakly.

"Shian..."
