Chapter 6

"A bet? The manager stared at them, ready to be confused.

"Miss. Tina, didn't you say that I was going to get half of your savings if I can get the dress? I just did and it's time for you to fulfill your part of the bet." He shot at her.

Her eyes wandered erratically almost immediately and her heart raced faster than normal.

She seemed to have forgotten everything about the bet all of a sudden.

Hee Words broke into a stutter almost immediately as she could not get herself to say anything for a while.

The only money that she had with her was the one that she wanted to use to get the dress that she wanted to use to attend the party.

"Who would want to miss such a party?"

The city's billionaire had organized a birthday party for his only son whom no one had known about her whereabouts for three years.

And all thanks to Gerald, it was more than a privilege that they were able to get tickets for the party

"No! You can't take the money that I have away from me? I can't dress any less for the party." She noted.

The manager stared at Stephen at the sound of the word but he pushed his gaze away.

"Isn't it a disgrace that you will be going to a party in rags?" He scoffed.

"Are you willing to throw away your dignity before everyone presents here today?"

Tina's eyes glanced through everyone in the hall and "gulped." A large lump went down her spine knowing way too well now that there was nothing that she could do about it.

Anyway, too bad for her, all of her funds were concentrated in that one account.

She brought out her phone from her pocket and was about to make a transfer but then Stephen stopped her With an evil grin on her face.

"Have you seen a bagger that takes transfers? I would prefer cash ma'am." 

She gnashed her teeth wishing that he could smack him on the face just like when he was once the Son-in-law of her family.

But the manager standing right behind him knew that she could never do such a thing to him.

With tears in her eyes at the fact that she was going to miss such a great opportunity just because of some slut like him, her hands skimmed through the outlines of her purse.

After what seemed to be like forever, she finally produced it and reluctantly handed it over to him.

"Thanks, ma'am." He appreciated it but that was nothing more than pouring more coal into the already flaming fire.

Stephen turned over to the manager and handed over the card to him.

"Please help me with this." He said with his most delicate voice and he nodded.

He walked away and returned a few minutes later with a bundle of cash in his hands and handed it over to Stephen.

Tina gnashed her teeth as he watched him closely collecting the bundle with a smile

And then, he sprinkled every single one of it into the air making her path her jaw in utmost surprise.

Before she could realize what was going on, the passers-by had already surrounded the money and scrapped every single bit of it away from the floor.

"You.. you.." she could hardly get herself to say anything as her words broke into a stutter.

"You can do that. That's my hard-earned money."

"Well too bad for you, I already did and there is no way that I can reverse my actions."

"Send her away." He muttered.

The manager gestured over to one of the guards almost immediately and he came for Stephen.

The guards held her hands tightly while she yelled at him to let her go but all her pleading fell on deaf ears.

Stephen returned his gaze to the sales lady who was already shivering out of fear.

"I don't think that people like this are going to help your business, Mr. Manager. It would be best if you relieve her of this burden." He is still trying to hide his identity.

"Sure. I don't even think that she is worth it." He noted.

"You are fired." He yelled at her with so much fury in his eyes.

Stephen got the clothes that he wanted. He walked away from the mall already getting tired since he had a big day ahead of him the next day.

When he walked outside, he noticed that the guard was down the car pacing up and down and at the sight of him, he let out a sigh of relief almost immediately.

"I didn't go missing all of a sudden you know." A burst of laughter escaped from his lips as he got into the car and it zoomed away.

He stared right into the street as the driver drove home. He still couldn't believe that his father had changed that much all of a sudden and after a long time, he was back to where he used to be.

At least now things were not going to be that bad.

He got home and the chef already prepared something delicious for him to eat. He gulped down the food

While he was still with Evelyn, he was only served with leftovers

When he was done, his bed was already prepared for him. He walked gradually towards it and fell on the soft foam.

That night, he slept like he had never done before. For that morning, he already had a lot to do for the day

First, he was going to check the hall that was being prepared for him and see if it was to his taste just like his Father had requested.

This time, since he didn't want anybody guard gluing away, he decided that he was going to sneak away from the house and his plan went well for him

His heart was racing fast when he got out of the mansion and he placed his hands on his chest to control his rising breaths.

It was just a few miles away and that would serve as his morning workout. Even with the luxury, he still had to be in perfect shape.

Even when he got there, his joggers were already soaked as he patted his face with the towel in his hands.

He got to the large venue that his father had booked and wanted to view it as nothing other than a stranger then something really strange happened.

He found Someone there that made him clutch his hands as bad memories flashed through his head.

Evelyn was the first to sight him and her face twisted into a frown.

"Andrew, what is a scumbag like you doing here? We just divorced yesterday. Are you so obsessed with me that you will not leave me alone and keep on following me around?" He Inquired and the frown that was hanging on her face deepened even more.

At this point, Gerald turned around towards him and a dark smile was visible on his face after what he had done to her.

He pushed her closer to himself, thinking that he was going to feel the pain of being rejected even more.

But it alone made Stephan twist his face with so much irritation.

"We can't say that darling. Maybe he is just here to beg for a job and nothing more than that." He sneered.

"But am I so sorry to disappoint, these people don't need low-class thieves like you? You don't even have the privilege to work somewhere this prestigious so before you get embarrassed, I will advise you to just move along."

"It's high time I taught him a lesson." Stephen thought as he walked towards them with so much air of confidence.

"And what makes you think that is what I came here to do? Or are you here for that too?" His feet inched closer towards them.
