Argh”
“My head…” Davin awoke with a start, his head throbbing . He took in his surroundings and noticed the cold, damp and Stony wall. A prison cell.
“What? How did I get here” he asked in a puzzled state after realizing what happened a few hours ago, he almost killed Derek. “Goddamn it” he cursed.
Not too long after a lady officer walked to his cell and released him, he had a visitor.

Davin took a seat beside Victoria, his expression remained calm as always, despite the ongoing commotion, his breathing was slow and steady.
“Do you realize the trouble you've put yourself into?” Victoria started.
“Trouble? What trouble?" There was no trace of emotion in Davin’s words, just a steady resolve.
“Derek is the heir to the Madison business empire, and you dare offend him, you are lucky you aren't dead by now”
“Oh” Davin raised a brow.
“You think this is funny?” Victoria stamped her feet, the Madison business empire is the second biggest company in the city, and almost twice more influential than the Windsors. Derek could get Davin killed with just a word, but Victoria stopped him from doing so because she had a plan.
“Here. Divorce papers” she placed a document and a pen on the desk.
“What…what's the meaning of this?” Davin became serious all of a sudden.
“This is the divorce papers, sign it. Maya no longer wants to be with a loser like you, she's better off alone or better still to be with Derek. Sign it and let me get out of here” she insulted.
“Why would I sign this, I won't sign it”
“Listen carefully Davin. Maya had already signed her part which means she no longer wants to be with you. And if you sign it I promise to withdraw all charges against you” Victoria offered.
“Why didn't she come by herself? Why did she have to send you? I'll like her to tell me to my face that she wants a divorce”
“She doesn't want you anymore! She can't even bear to see your ugly face ever again” Victoria prompted.
Davin looked at the divorce papers, he flipped the page and truly Maya’s signature was there, he leaned back on the chair and took a deep breath. Normally when a wife cheats on her husband it's her who gets kicked out of the house, but for Davin it's different. Maya cheated on him and he was the one who was kicked out. His heart ached, shattering into a million pieces.
"Sign the papers you peasant, and you'll be free," Victoria said, her voice dripping with condescension. "Otherwise, you'll spend the rest of your days in this prison, where no one will ever come to visit you. You're an orphan, after all, and what use are you to anyone now when you have no job and you've lost your wife?" Victoria taunted him.
With a steely resolve, Davin took the pen and signed his name on the dotted line. He handed the papers back to Victoria without a word, his expression unreadable.
“Good boy. Finally my daughter is free and can move on with her life” Victoria sneered before leaving.
As Victoria left the building, she brought out her phone and dialed a number.
“Hello Derek…yes he finally signed the papers…”
“Our plan worked…he'll be released very soon…”
“Alright meet you at the mansion.”
As Victoria had promised, after about an hour Davin was released, Victoria had already given his bags and belongings to the station, so he'll have no reason to go back to the mansion.
‘What will I do now? I'm stranded. I'll make y'all pay Windsors. You have no idea who I am’
Davin walked out of the building with his bags. It was a big backpack and an average handbag.
It was evening and Davin was getting hungry, he hadn't eaten the whole day. He had no money left with him, he searched his pocket hoping to find a miracle coin, but instead he found a necklace, the same necklace Maya rejected. Immediately an idea popped in his head.
‘glad she rejected this’
Davin walked to a shop, it was the same jewelry shop he had bought the necklace for Maya. And he decided to sell it back so he could get something to eat.
The shopkeeper was confused a bit, he just bought the necklace yesterday saying it was for his wife's birthday, so now he coming to sell it back was so confusing. However Davin didn't have time to explain himself, he needed the money urgently and the shopkeeper was nice, he bought it back from Davin for $200, it was enough to sustain Davin for the night.
Davin was done with his food, he sat on a bench in an empty park. It was night now, and he needed to leave the city tomorrow, there's nothing else left for him, the only thing that was important to him had left him.
Suddenly his phone buzzed, he brought it out and the number calling was an unknown number.
‘Who's calling at this time’ he wondered then picked the call.
“Hello?” Davin asked.
“Hello Lord Darius” the caller responded, it was a hoarse voice.
Davin was skeptical, no one had ever called him by that name for a long time, it meant this person knew about his past and true identity.
“Lord Darius, are you there? It's me James” the voice contained .
“James?” He asked to be sure.
“Yes Lord Darius, you have to come back to the mansion, your father is dead and your brother and mother were taken away. The seat of the heir is empty, we need you.”
“What? No.” Davin gasped, but was interrupted by the sudden flashlight from a car.
He tried to cover his eyes, but then he noticed the cares were all around him, three in number.
“Hello..” James was still on the line but Davin cut the call and put his phone back in his pocket, the current situation was more important.
Abruptly out of the three black cabs, hefty men dressed in all black suits came out, they all held a barton, some held a dagger.
‘What’s going on?” Davin readied his guard just in case, and to his expectations Derek walked out of the cab, with a long cigarette fixed in his mouth.
“Hello there Davin” he grinned, as he exhaled the smoke, he closed his eyes and savored the moment. The bruises Davin left on his face were still visible although covered with plasters.
“What do you want?” Davin asked.
“Payback”. Derek took a deep drag on his cigarette, savoring the rich, smoky flavor. He let the smoke curl around his tongue, enjoying the subtle notes of coffee and vanilla. “Get em boys!”
Derek ordered. Immediately his boys ganged up on Davin. Davin tried fighting the men, but they overshadowed him, each delivering massive blows with their barton, his head, arms, legs, back, abdomen were all aching with severe pain.
“You should know never to mess with someone like me, Davin. I'm Derek Madison, the Mafia Don.” Derek roared in triumph.
“Now apologize! Acknowledge me you insect!” Derek commanded, veins visible on his face as he yelled like a monster he was.
Davin was bruised badly, he coughed out blood from his mouth and nostrils, he was on his fours, as he raised his face up high. He smiled despite all the pain, making all the men puzzled including Derek. Davin then raised his palm and gave Derek the middle finger.
“You bug!” Derek booted his face, sending him back to the ground. Derek then lifted his face again. “You messed with the wrong guy Davin. I took your wife, I took your home and now I'll take your life” Derek then brought out a dagger from his suit and stabbed Davin on his stomach.
“Argh!” Davin gritted his teeth, after which Derek withdrew the dagger and left Davin at the point of death.
“Good riddance” he dropped his remaining cigarette on Davin's body. “Let's get out of here” he ordered, and in less than ten minutes they were all gone. Davin was left in a pool of his own blood, his phone continued to buzz, it was that same number calling. Davin could feel his life force siping away from his body, his vision became blurry, at this moment he gave his final breath and passed out.

Is she okay?”“Maya,” Davin said, keeping his voice steady. “What are you doing here?”“I came to support my family,” she said, tilting her head slightly. “Isn’t that what family does?”Helen shot Davin a look, and he felt the tension rise between them. “Support?” he echoed, doubt lacing his tone. “Or to make sure everyone knows you’re here?”Maya laughed, a sound that felt more like a challenge. “Oh, come on. I know you’re not happy about my wedding plans, but can we not turn this into a competition? This is about Mom.”“Right. Let’s just focus on her,” Davin said, frustration boiling beneath the surface. “But don’t pretend that you aren’t looking for attention.”“Seriously, Davin?” Maya shot back, her voice sharp. “You think I’m here for a show? I’m worried about her too, you know.”“You have a funny way of showing it,” he replied, crossing his arms.“Enough,” Helen

We need to talk,” she said, her voice tight with anxiety. He looked up, instantly alert. “What’s wrong?”“It’s your mother. I just got a call from the hospital. She’s seriously ill,” Helen said, her words tumbling out in a rush. “They’re flying her out of Arctic City for specialized medication.”Davin’s heart sank. “What do you mean, ‘seriously ill’? What’s going on?”“They didn’t give me all the details, just that she needs immediate treatment,” Helen replied, her eyes brimming with concern. “They’re arranging a private jet to get her to the mainland for the best care.”“Why didn’t they call me?” he asked, rising from the table, the papers scattering as he stood.“I think t

As they finished their ice cream, Mia let out a satisfied sigh, her face smeared with chocolate and mint. Davin couldn’t help but chuckle at her delight. “You’ve got a bit of ice cream on your nose, kiddo,” he teased, reaching over with a napkin.Mia giggled, swiping at her nose with the back of her hand. “It’s part of the experience!” she declared with the seriousness of a gourmet critic. “Then I suppose I’m not allowed to clean you up,” Davin replied, exchanging a knowing glance with Helen. The sun shone brightly overhead, and the market was a riot of colors and sounds. Families milled about, vendors called out their wares, and the laughter of children filled the air. The moment felt suspended in time, a perfect snapshot of happiness that Davin wished could last forever.“Let’s take a stroll down by the river after this,” Helen suggested, finishing her ice cream. “I heard they have a small arts and crafts fair set up along the walkway.”“Great idea!
