Chapter Seven

"Who is this player Blacklion001? He must be a master gamer hired by a big company right?"

"Does anyone know who he is? I'd like to join his team."

"If he was in a team, the notification would have mentioned the name of the team and not just the name of the player, I think he is a solo gamer."

"Gasp, a solo player and he already acquired such a rare and valuable item? Even the veteran gamers who are currently making a wave in NexReality have not been able to attain such a treasure."

"I think I know who this player BlackLion001 is. The first time I entered the game there was a human player who was entering the forbidden library at the end of the beginner town, though I didn't really see his face much, I think it's him."

"What do you mean a human player? It's impossible a player would want to choose a human race, and even if they did, what can a human do against the beast rumored to be within the tunnel of despair. Haven't you heard how many players died stupidly risking their lives for that quest? I'm sure a human wouldn't have been able to complete it."

"Wait, did you just say the beginner town? That means he's a level one player. How can a new player be this formidable?"

"This is really great history in NexReality, I can't wait to see what this player Blacklion001 is going to do next."

"Guys, I'm willing to give 5,000 silver in-game coins to anyone who can tell me player Blacklion's identity."

"Hahaha, 5,000 silver coins? I'll give 5,000 gold coins!"

The online forums of NexReality in the real world filled with countless curious comments about Lionel.

Meanwhile, Lionel sat in front of his computer in his bedroom scrolling through the comments with a strangely astonished look in his eyes.

"Did I do too much? I probably shouldn't have completed that quest quickly if I knew it would give such a treasure that'll make everyone hunt for me tsk."

Lionel had forgotten the fact that every big achievement would be announced all over the game for every player to see. It was a way to motivate other players.

In fact, such announcements often caused feuds where players would be greedy and jealous for another player's achievement and they could form a team to hunt him down.

Lionel decided to keep a low profile in the game from then on.

Recalling the artifact everyone was currently raving about, Lionel scoffed to himself.

"That old dwarf must have cheated me."

Earlier Lionel had eagerly opened the little box the old dwarf had given him and a blinding light had shone into his eyes.

However when the light faded a small jade object was sitting inside the box, Lionel had picked it up and inspected it multiple times, but it still looked like ordinary jade to him.

Why had it been called a special grade artifact when it was nothing but an ordinary jade. Lionel had dropped it into his inventory then.

A lot of players hadn't been able to quickly figure out that the quest had come from the library at that time, so when he'd left the library no one had noticed him as they were all shocked about the notification that circulated the game. Lionel had spent the day hunting low level animals in the forests of the beginner town for the rest of the day as practice before he had to log off for the day.

While in the shower, Lionel recalled how he'd been able to see through the walls the other day after acquiring a new skill.

"Could it be..." He muttered thoughtfully before he set his eyes on the nearest wall in his bedroom.

"Activate super vision."

Lionel waited for a few seconds, however the wall before him was still intact. He couldn't see through it like he'd been able to the other day.

Lionel closed his eyes and breathed deeply to focus, after concentrating for a while he opened his eyes again and tried once more.

"Activate super vision."

Still nothing happened, he sighed in defeat laughing at himself for even believing something so ridiculous.

"I must have been hallucinating the other day." He concluded drying his damp hair when his phone began ringing.

He walked over to the bedside table, seeing the caller ID his face darkened and he swiped the reject button.

The call was from his father.

However his phone started ringing again even after he'd rejected the call.

Harold Phillips had always been a self centered man who didn't care about any other person but himself, his wealth was the most important thing to him that he sent his sons on a mission against each other just so he could give the one he considered the best inheritance while the other would be discarded like trash.

Lionel had never cared about the inheritance in his past life, all he'd ever wanted was his father's approval. He wanted the man to look at him with pride in his eyes and acknowledge him, but alas, he'd died while trying to achieve that goal.

The phone kept ringing incessantly that Lionel had no other choice but to pick up.

"What took you so long to pick up you disobedient brat!" The voice filled with reproach rang in Lionel's ears.

"I've been busy." Lionel replied succinctly.

"Well it's good to know you've been preoccupying yourself with the mission I gave you. Your brother is already off to a great start, and you're the older one, he might just beat you in getting the inheritance."

Hearing his father mention Kaleb, Lionel clenched his fist recalling the words Kaleb had said to him before he died in his previous life.

'...It can only be me and not you brother.'

"Don't disappoint me again by losing to your younger brother. There's a new gamer out there, the guy seems quite talented. Find him and quickly poach him over to our side. Is that clear?"

Lionel felt rage filling his heart at his father's ordering words, how had he never realized how selfish this man was in his past life. He did nothing but deliberately turn both his sons against each other for his own personal benefit. It wasn't just about the inheritance, it was all about him being the one to obtain DarkRealm studios shares.

Lionel was about to reply to his father sharply but the words were caught in his throat as he looked up at the walls before him again. His lips parted in shock.

"How is this...?"

"What are you saying little brat? Answer me! Do you understand a word of what I just said or not?"

Lionel ignored his father, trying to make sense of what he was just seeing.

It couldn't be...he was using the super vision skill in real life.

In order to confirm Lionel tried to control what he could view.

His vision seemed sharply enhanced, he could zoom into the distance while seeing through walls.

He could see Steve sitting in front of the TV where he loved to be, watching a basketball game that had him agitated and screaming at the players.

Lionel zoomed in the image he was seeing by trying to control the power with his mind and to his surprise, it worked.

From where he stood in his bedroom he could see the living room and not just that but beyond, his sight stretched through the second walls into the next apartment beside theirs where the tenant who was a girl seemed to be dancing to some music she was playing.

He tried to stretch his view farther than that but a sharp pain suddenly assaulted his head and that made him shut his eyes cutting off the super vision.

Lionel's heart was racing with confusion as he clutched his head.

"How is this possible? I'm using the skill I acquired in the game!"
