No Longer A Nobody

Chapter 4

'What? The Zikkers' Clan? So the mayor was right.' Novan thought as he suddenly felt his stomach rumble.

"We need to be one of the enlisted companies under this consortium." Grandma Rocks cut his thoughts with her words. 

" The Zikkers' Clan consortium is the biggest in this continent. No company under the Zikkers' Clan consortium has ever gone bankrupt or lacked in any way." Grandma Rocks continued, looking into everybody's eyes.

"Who is the owner of this trillion dollar consortium?" Lilian asked 

"Yeah, how come we don't know who the person is?." Charlie added

"That is the main reason why I called you all here for a meeting, it was said that the previous owner is no longer in charge again and a new CEO will be introduced soonest." Grandma Rocks informed them.

Novan was finding it hard to sit still at this point. They were talking about his father's consortium that was now his.

 " I want us all to get acquainted with the Zikkers' Clan consortium, get close to the CEO, I don't mind a personal relationship. Then get our company to be under the Zikkers' Clan consortium." Grandma Rocks finished. 

The gathering was quiet as everyone in the Rocks family was thinking of ways to make Grandma Rocks' request come true. 

"Alexia, you have looks no man can resist. Do this for us, with your looks I'm sure the consortium's CEO wouldn't be able to refuse your request. " Grandma Rocks said with certainty.

"Yes"

"Yes"

"I'm sure."

Everyone on the table agreed. 

Meanwhile Novan was already boiling as he sat down on the wooden chair beside the door.

'How could they tell a married woman to seduce another man because of money?' He thought as anger wielded in his heart.

'I'll show them who has the money, I will go on this trip with the mayor and become the consortium's CEO.' Novan was upset 

"Grandma Rocks, I'll be going on a trip tomorrow." Novan said with innocence. 

"Haha, this joker can't seize to amuse me." Charlie sneered

"What for?" Grandma Rocks asked, looking disgusted. 

"I think I have half siblings in Italy. I heard that my Dad had a family there." He answered politely 

"You might as well never come back again. So that Alexia can have better chances with better men." Grandma Rocks replied. 

The long awaited morning was here and Novan couldn't wait to exit the Rocks family compound. He bade his wife and sister farewell and headed for the Grand city park where the mayor was waiting for him in a Black Rolls Royce sports car. 

The Rolls Royce exuded luxury and quality. The interior was neatly designed and properly arranged. 

There was a box of snacks and really expensive wines. Novan couldn't remember when he last had a really expensive wine.

"I trust you slept well Mr Novan." The mayor asked as he continued driving. 

"I did mayor, how long is the trip going to take?" Novan asked 

"Oh, by plane it will take us about an hour and forty five minutes and by car it will take us about 9 hours. " the mayor replied, his gaze still fixated on the road.

"Let's go by road. I want to see some of the companies under my father's consortium." Novan said and the mayor replied respectfully. 

"Yes sir." 

"Why didn't you come for me all this while?" Novan asked the mayor while maintaining a serious look.

"I didn't know where you were sir. I didn't know about the arranged marriage between you and the Rocks family. " the mayor spoke with sincerity in his voice. 

It was possible for the mayor not to have known as the marriage arrangement was between his parents and the Rocks. It was supposed to be announced at his father's 47th birthday before the tragedy happened. 

"Your Dad left me in Italy where we went to start the process of taking this international company under us as one of the companies listed under our consortium. He was to report back to Italy so we could round up the process but I didn't hear from him, his numbers were not reachable. I called the office and they informed me about the tragic death." The speed at which the mayor drove the car reduced at this point. 

"I asked after you and I was told that your uncle had taken over the house and the company. You left with your sister one of the nights and no one had seen you since then.

I was devastated when I heard the news, I told everyone I knew to be on the lookout for you but nobody saw you around. After a year, I decided to change the approach and started searching in hospitals both inside and outside Beacon Hills if I could find Olivia." The mayor explained, the pain in his heart felt like it was opened anew.

"I finally found her name in Livingston hospital. I was so glad when the news reached me. I requested that when next she came around, the hospital shouldn't hesitate to contact me. I didn't hear from them for months until finally, that fateful day when I got the call from the hospital. I knew God had answered my prayers because I knew you were going to be there too." The mayor finished these words and let out a smile. 

Novan was speechless, and touched by the mayor's explanation, his face gave out a weak smile.

He threw his hand to where the box of snacks was when his stomach began to rumble. He opened the box and saw an array of yummy looking cookies, cakes and donuts, expensive wines, juices and milk drinks. He also saw some high-priced chocolate bars and peanuts. 

"I see you are hungry sir, the snacks and drinks were carefully selected for your satisfaction. Please enjoy. " the mayor told him as he noticed the way Novan looked at the snacks with aspiration. He wanted to eat them up as fast as he could.

Novan urged the mayor as he opened the pack of cookies "Join me." 

The snacks were worth their prices as every ingredient used in the product could be tasted. The cookies melted in Novan's mouth and left him with a milky and buttery feel. It was a buttermilk cookie. 

The cakes and donuts were so delicious and sweet. The duo ate and drank meticulously. 

"This is one of the companies under your consortium sir." The mayor pointed at Tiger Computers inc.

"Tiger computers?" Novan asked surprised 

Tiger computers was one of the richest companies in Beacon Hills. They have a wide range of products and services ranging from the manufacturing of Computers and ICT gadgets, to the repairs of the faulty products to the provision of home services for anyone who wants an installation or servicing of the gadgets. 

This was the company that Richard Wane worked in as the repairs manager. 

"I wonder how much revenue they make." Novan wondered 

He brought out his old model phone but couldn't do anything with it. It was a 2g phone.

He had sold his iphone 12 to purchase some medications for his sister and resorted to using a 2g button phone.

"Sir, here is the list of the companies under your consortium, their annual revenue and our share percentage in each of the companies listed."the mayor said as he handed the document over to him

In the document Novan saw several top companies in the world. With the least company ranked 50th in the world.

He didn't hesitate to search for Tiger Computers inc. And his jaw dropped. Their yearly revenue was up to $600billion and they were ranked the 18th in the world.
