3. Humiliated!

“Beccc… Becca?” Tyler’s voice trembled as tears welled up and slipped down his cheeks. He blinked hard, hoping he was mistaken—but there she was. His own wife. Inside a car. With another man.

His lips quivered as the words forced themselves out. “Don’t tell me this is true, Becca. Tell me this is all a mistake. Tell me you’re not cheating on me… with him?”

But instead of guilt or even a hint of remorse, Becca calmly picked up her bag, gently patted Perry’s chest, and said, “We’re here. I’ll head in first.”

Perry smirked at Tyler like he’d just won a prize. The whole thing felt rehearsed. Becca didn’t even flinch. She opened the door and stepped out of the car, completely ignoring the pain on Tyler’s face.

Tyler followed, heart pounding, every step heavier than the last. He approached her with a voice cracking from pain.

“What’s the matter with you, Becca? Why would you do this? Why would you cheat on me—with him of all people?”

She said nothing.

Then Perry got out and walked up behind him. He shoved Tyler by the shoulder. “Back off, kid. That’s my girl.”

Tyler staggered but managed to keep his balance. He straightened up and turned back to Becca, still hoping she’d say something, anything.

“You’re seriously not going to speak to me? After everything? Why are you—”

Before he could finish, Becca grabbed Perry’s hand and walked off with him, heading straight into the banquet hall.

Tyler stood frozen, his chest ripped open from the inside. All the late-night calls. All the late nights she came home without an explanation. It all made sense now. She was cheating on him, and she didn't even try to hide it.

Not willing to let it end this way, Tyler marched toward the banquet hall. As he approached, his eyes caught the banner at the entrance again—the one with his photo and the words: Tyler Hudson. After Six Years!

He had no idea what it meant, but right now, that didn’t matter. The betrayal hurt more than the sack letter he got just a few weeks ago.

As soon as he stepped inside, the room fell silent.

All eyes turned toward the stage where the host was speaking into the microphone.

“Thank you all for joining us tonight! A special shoutout to everyone here and to all our incredible sponsors. And now, to honor one of our biggest supporters—ladies and gentlemen, please give a warm welcome to Mr. Perry Winter and his beautiful girlfriend, Miss Rebecca Amore Cruz!”

Applause erupted from the room. But whispers followed quickly.

“Wait, isn’t she married?”

“Rebecca Cruz? Didn’t she just tie the knot a few years ago?”

“I thought she had a husband... What’s she doing with Perry?”

The questions flew around the room, unanswered.

Tyler stood stiff, fists clenched at his sides as the applause went on. Perry and Becca climbed the stage hand-in-hand. The crowd was loving it. Perry was a billionaire potter, and Becca, one of the city's most admired CEOs. To them, it looked like a power couple unveiling a fairytale.

Perry waved to quiet the crowd. “Thank you, everyone! Your support means everything. I wouldn’t be standing here today without it.”

Then he turned to Becca and held her hand with a proud smile.

“I’m sure some of you are surprised to see the CEO of Amore Empire beside me. We haven’t made it official until now, but since the suspense is already thick in the air, let’s clear it up.”

He paused, letting his eyes lock on Tyler—who stood just a few feet from the stage, fists trembling.

“Ladies and gentlemen,” Perry said proudly, “today marks the sixth year of my relationship with Rebecca Cruz. Congratulations to us.”

“Liar!”

A voice tore through the hall like thunder.

“You’re a liar! Everything you just said is a lie!”

All heads turned. There was Tyler, standing tall with fire in his eyes, staring directly at them.

Perry’s face twitched as he tried to mask his irritation. “What are you doing here, young man?”

Tyler pointed his finger at Perry, his voice loud and shaking. “Don’t play dumb, Perry. Don’t act like you don’t know who I am. I’m the husband of the woman you’re sleeping with!”

Before the words could even settle in the air, Becca stormed out from behind the stage. She slapped Tyler hard across the face.

“How dare you slut-shame me, Tyler?” she screamed, her face twisted in disgust. “Of all places to say this nonsense, you choose here? Do you always have to be this stupid?”

“I am your husband, Becca!” Tyler shouted, his voice trembling.

“Husband, my foot,” Becca snapped back, her eyes flashing with rage. “You were never my husband. You were a liability. A convenience. I only kept you around so I could take over Amore Empire. I never loved you. I never will.”

Tyler felt like the ground beneath him was splitting open. Everything he believed in was crashing down. He had trusted her. He had respected her when she said there would be no sex in the marriage until she was ready. He stayed loyal. He stayed patient. He did all of that out of love. And now she was standing in front of him, admitting she had been cheating on him with Perry for six years?

His voice came out strained but steady. “So tell me something, Becca. Did you cheat on me because you never loved me, or was it because I wasn’t rich enough for you?”

Becca laughed coldly and folded her arms. “The whole world knows who you are, Tyler. You’re a weak, pathetic, poor man. Just an ordinary Uber driver. Do you seriously expect a billionaire heiress like me to fall in love with someone like you? Get real. That was never going to happen.”

Perry chuckled under his breath. Tyler turned and glared at him with disgust. Every ounce of respect he ever had for the man vanished in that moment. Perry was no role model. He was nothing.

Tyler took a step back, trying to catch his breath. It all made sense now. Every detail. Every lie.

They planned this.

Perry was the main sponsor of the event. He was also the one who personally invited Tyler. It wasn’t out of kindness. It was a setup. They brought him here just to humiliate him. Even the Uber request had been a trap.

Just as he was about to turn and walk away, Becca called out. “Don’t leave yet, Tyler.”

He paused and looked back at her.

Becca walked up to him, putting on a fake, sympathetic look. “You were specially invited tonight because I wanted to clear the air between us.”

She pointed to the large banner at the top of the hall. “You see that? I had it made just for you. I wanted to give you a very special gift.”

Tyler stared at her, unsure of what she was planning now.

Becca stretched out her hand. Perry stepped forward and handed her a set of documents.

She looked Tyler up and down, sneering. Then she flung the papers at him.

They hit his chest and scattered to the floor around him.

Becca’s voice rang out like thunder. “Those are divorce papers, Tyler. Sign them. Then go home, pack your things, and get out of my house.”

The rewards were often life-changing.People usually begged for those documents. They fought for them. Some even lied to get the credit. But today… for the first time in his career, someone had flat-out refused. And that person was poor. That was why he’d called Tyler “broke and proud.” But Tyler had thrown it back at him with one line:“I may be poor, but I am never POOR.”It didn’t make sense to him. It messed with his head. Before he could even open his mouth to ask what it meant, Tyler stepped forward, patted the doctor lightly on the back, and gave him a calm smile.“You won’t understand, Doctor,” he said. “Because there ar

I’ll be there in a minute.”“Yes, Sir!” the young man said sharply, standing upright. “Permission to leave, Sir!”“Permission granted,” Diego responded, returning the salute with authority. The soldier turned smartly and left. Diego watched him go, exhaling quietly through his nose. The moment the footsteps faded, Perry’s voice came through the phone.“What was that about? Who was that?”“It was a lieutenant,” Diego said, his tone low but controlled. “He came to inform me that the team has already tracked down the location of the phone. My attention’s being called there.”For a moment, silence filled the line. Perry’s chest tightened as a wave of unease spread through him. Fear tried to take control, but he forced himsel

And worse, that he already knows the whole truth about your Dad's intention to get him killed? How the hell is that even possible?”“Wasn’t Marshal ordered to take that dumbas

I can’t guarantee full control of everything. Yes, I hold a high rank in this operation—but that doesn’t mean the FBI will let me interfere with their team!”Perry exhaled slowly, rubbing the bridge of his nose. “I understand what you’re saying, bro,” he muttered, his voice heavy. “But it’s high time we figured all of this out before it gets out of hand. I mean it's high time we get to put ourselves into action, before it becomes exceedingly late.
