Soon, Anthony arrived at the place. Almighty Anthony's Empire!

Dipping his hand into his pocket, he paid the driver before stepping out. He froze as he stared at the towering height of the building; his heart skipped nervously.

The driver who hadn't driven off after being paid said with concern, “Be careful as you go in, young man. Heard a lot about how people who go in there without a purpose get beaten up.” Then he drove away.

Anthony watched him drive off and nodded. Taking in a confident breath to eradicate the nervousness, Anthony approached the large gate and knocked on it.

“Who's that?” A voice came out, and the gate was opened, and a gate guard stepped out. His eyes trailed Anthony from his head down to his toes with disgust.

“Are you the garbage man my boss told me would be coming in today?” He further asked.

Anthony didn't want to start explaining himself to the gate guard, so he nodded, and the gate was opened wide for him. “Make sure you don't lean or touch the wall from any corner, okay?”

The gate guard advised Anthony because of his outfit.

“Okay,” Anthony nodded and added, “Thanks.” With that, he walked into the lobby. And his jaw dropped to the ground, stunned by the sleek decor of the place.

The floor was metallic tiled, and everywhere, luxury oozed with sophistication. His sweaty face instantly went dry, replaced by a chill as a result of the air conditioning.

Anthony kept his eyes focused, trying not to look frightened and surprised since there were a lot of people going in and out of the place.

With a composed demeanor, Anthony approached the receptionist’s desk. The young lady by the name of Rose, in charge of the receptionist’s desk, looked at him less; however, she kept her voice to depict her profession. “Good afternoon, sir. What do you want?” Rose asked.

Anthony stole a sharp glance at the system the receptionist was operating when he approached her before he responded, his voice firm, “I'm here to see the manager.”

Rose furrowed her eyebrows with puzzlement. “You want to see the manager?”

Anthony's stance didn't waver as he nodded with firmness, “Yes.”

Rose’s puzzlement vanished, replaced by a deep frown. “Hey, young man, be realistic here!” She slammed her hand on the desk in a manner that drew the attention of people around and also other staff members.

They began to look at Anthony with a mix of irritation and contempt. “He wants to see the manager. How does that sound?” Someone said,

“Ridiculous!” Another chirped in. All with contemptuous voices.

“Does this place look like a playground or something?” Rose glared at Anthony, but he was unfazed, not letting the words sink in.

Instead, he arched his eyebrows, asking, “Did I say anything wrong? I just want to see your manager, that's all.”

Rose’s blood boiled at Anthony's confidence to still speak, and she shot from the hip, “Just keep shut! Who do you take my boss for—a jobless or what? To have time to speak with someone like you?”

Anthony swallowed hard, but he didn't want to make the situation linger, so he avoided all irritated glances at him and picked up his phone to dial a number.

He wanted to call Samantha, his mother, to tell her about what was happening here, but just then, a young man rushed downstairs, breathing heavily as if being chased by a dog.

Anthony halted from proceeding further as the man caught his attention. Proceeding, Rose’s eyebrows furrowed, surprised at the hasty run.

Other staff members, including the people, also raised their eyes, stunned. This man named Liam was the manager whom Anthony was seeking to see.

So, it surprised them to see why he was running like this!

Rushing to the desk, Liam asked in a hasty voice, “Did you see any young man around age twenty-one wanting to see me?”

Rose glanced at Anthony. He also wanted to see the manager, but she shook her head icily. This young man wasn't the type of person whom her boss could be running out to find.

“No, boss. I haven't seen anyone.” She lied, “Is there any problem?” She enquired, curious and concerned.

Liam lost his marbles, and he slammed his hand hard on the desk, startling everyone except Anthony, who watched calmly.

“Where can I find him now! How can I get to see him?” Liam mumbled, his lips shaking heavily in fear. His nostrils flared at Rose, and she was taken aback with surprise.

“What’s your work here if you don't know who I am talking about! He's the heir of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Rice, and I received a call that he's here. We must find him!”

Everyone was startled just as Liam said that. They started to look by their sides, careful enough so as not to offend who this heir was.

It was at this moment, after hearing, that a small smile played around Anthony's lips. It became clear he was the one this man was looking for. And if not mistaken, this same man is the manager here.

The same person whom his mother had instructed him to meet. As a result of that, Anthony reluctantly approached Liam, “Young man,” Anthony placed his hand gently on Liam's shoulder, “Are you the manager here? I'm the person you're looking for.” He said with a smile.

Liam pierced him with a wicked look, “Looking for you? Who are you?”

Anthony smiled, “The heir of your boss, Mr. Lawrence Rice, and Mrs Samantha Lawrence.”

Liam's heart beat heavily at the name ‘Samantha’ because he didn't remember mentioning the name.

He furrowed his eyebrows with surprise, slightly astonished, “How did you know her name?” His voice was calm so as not to make any silly mistakes. And his expression also started to soften.

Anthony's smile didn't falter as he repeated, “Like I said, I'm their son. My mom, Mrs Samantha, sent me here to meet with you. But she literally didn't mention your name to me. All she told me was to see the manager, which I believe you are.”

Liam blinked, swallowing hard. It was too difficult to believe someone dressed like this to be Lawrence's heir. Impossible! Nobody in their right senses would be!

Lawrence Rice's son can't be dressed so casually! Boots with guns should have followed him here!

Anthony observed Liam's expression and noticed his skeptical expression, so he said, “Don't worry, I'll calm him right away so you can speak with her. In that way, you'll believe that I'm not lying.”

Liam couldn't say a word, his face was just pale.

It was as if someone was waiting for Anthony to say that because immediately his last word dropped, and his phone began to ring.

“Oh, yeah. She's the one calling me now.” Anthony hurriedly answered, pressing the green button. “Hello, Mom. He's right here with me.”

Liam pressed his ears forward, trying to make sense of what was happening, but he couldn't hear as the person from the other end was replying.

Samantha replied, “Okay, a minute; I'll call him right away.” The call ended. Then Anthony looked at Liam and said, “Wait a minute, she's going to call you.”

Liam just stared at Anthony, clearly confused. He just folded his arms, looking like someone a bucket of ice-block was being poured on.

Behind, Rose frowned heavily and interrupted, “Shut up your gutter, young man! Take a look at yourself…do you look like you belong here? Mr. Lawrence is worth billions, as I know, but look at you…so casual and dirty. Do you think you can deceive us?”

Anthony just smiled at her without saying a word. He saw no need in exchanging words with a sharp-tongued human, his staff at that.

Rose wanted to continue, but then Liam's phone vibrated audibly and began to ring. “Silent! It's Mrs. Samantha calling!” Liam said aloud with a shaky voice, and Rose's words flew back into her mouth.

Why didn't she just tell the truth, that she was going out to dine with her boyfriend? You wouldn't have stopped her.”Her intention in saying that was to fuel Anthony's aggression toward Sarah. He wanted him to be more hostile and furious at her so that he would only have time for her—Georgina—and not Sarah.Pausing briefly, she continued, “She was only trying to act like she had wanted to let you know just because she was caught red-handed, or else she wouldn't have even mentioned it to you.”She didn't stop. She went on uttering words that were disgusting about Sarah, condemning her single act with only one intention—to flare Anthony's anger toward Sarah.Anthony was numb, listening to every one of her words.“She isn't trustworthy. Her face grew pale. “I shouldn't have lied to him,” she cried. “I should have just told him the truth. Now, what was the essence of lying when he had caught me?” Her eyes rolled around the place, a tear clearly seen in her eyes. After a while of almost sitting on the ground, Sarah stood up, her composure straight. She wiped the tear that was almost dropping from her eyes and with that, she turned around, walking back inside. Meanwhile, inside the restaurant, Benjamin had already sat back on his seat, his elbow on the table, his hand supporting his chin.He was thinking about what had just transpired; however, his mind wasn't on anything else except Georgina. She had slapped him right in front of Anthony. What then is she doing with that bastard?” He wondered loudly in his heart. Strange. A hum escaped his lips.He shifted slightly on his seat befo

Anthony, you?” She stammered.Anthony’s eyes flicked from Sarah to Benjamin and he stared at him for a moment longer. Then, they flipped back to Sarah, his eyes filled with quiet intensity. He walked closer. “Sarah,” he called out, still as if he was dreaming. “What are you doing here? With him?” He gestured toward Benjamin. “Didn't you say you were at home taking a rest?” Sarah stood there, iced at a spot. Her mouth went dry of words, a heavy weight of guilt descending on her. “It—it's not what you think, Anthony. There's —”Anthony cut her off, his voice cold. “What else do you want to say? Lie to me again?” He said, completely annoyed. “I called to check on you to know how you were doing and you told me you were resting at home,” he paused, then added. “So, this is the house, right?” “

Georgina's eyes darted toward Anthony, “Him? No, no….” She quickly shook her head, trying to deny, but then completed it, “Yes, I mean, he had given me a lift before.” She lied. Reluctantly, she asked Anthony, “You? You seem to know him. Have you guys met before?” Anthony nodded. “Yes.”Benjamin cut in, but didn't reveal the truth. Instead, he put up a face, trying to act surprised. “Georgina,” he called out, “What are you doing with him? I…is he your boyfriend?” Georgina had told him that Anthony wasn't Sarah's boyfriend, yet she was with him. Something seems odd, rightly not in place. Georgina frowned, but masked it with a faint smile. “No, Anthony is my friend.”Benjamin scorned, disgust plastered on his face. “A friend? To you?” An amused laugh escaped his lips. “You mean there's no well-to-do looking guy out there that you can make friends with except this….”He looked from Anthony's head down to his toes. “This pathetic loser?” Georgina's face became a shade of red, her fur
