With those words, Trevor calmly turned around with the full intention of leaving. After all, his goal of injuring Andrew for life and turning Frederick Dunn into a eunuch had already been accomplished. There was no need to waste any more of his time exchanging words with a brainless second generation heir.

"Hold on! Who gave you permission to leave?!"

How could Patrick Dunn simply allow the person who had allegedly just ended his family's lineage to walk away freely?

Not even Veronica Winchester's presence would stop him from trying.

With a sharp wave of his hand, the bodyguards who had already been on standby watching the situation unfold immediately rushed straight at Trevor from all directions.

"Scram!"

In an instant, Trevor uttered that single word with his voice infused with Qi.

To everyone within a certain radius around him, including Veronica, it felt like a thunderclap detonating directly inside their skulls. The bodyguards who bore the full force of it as the intended targets felt it significantly worse. Some went completely limp and collapsed to the floor while others had their eyes roll to the back of their heads before slumping down where they stood.

Patriarch Patrick Dunn watched his guards crumple uselessly before Trevor with boiling anger, but beneath that anger was something else entirely. Something closer to fear at the level of power this man was casually displaying.

Subconsciously his gaze drifted toward Michael Han. He was the only person present who Patrick still held any hope of being capable of dealing with Trevor.

"Young Master Michael..."

He didn't even get to finish his sentence before Michael Han let out a cold snort, turned sharply on his heel, and rushed out of the hotel at speed as if he had something extremely urgent to attend to elsewhere.

"..."

Everyone watching was left completely speechless. If even Michael Han was choosing to flee, then there was truly no one left in this hall capable of handling Trevor Scott.

Powerless and seething, Patrick Dunn could do nothing but stand and watch as Trevor walked out, the fury on his face doing absolutely nothing to slow Trevor's steps.

'A patient dog eats the fattest bone and revenge is a dish best served cold. Just you wait, boy!'

He thought viciously to himself.

With the departure of the main players, the initially grand and carefully prepared wedding ceremony dissolved into complete chaos as guests slowly began filing out, all of them rushing to be the first to share the extraordinary gossip of everything that had just unfolded within these walls.

---

Outside the hotel, there was no lovey dovey scene between Trevor and Veronica as the two of them stood facing each other.

"So... you said your name was Veronica Winchester, that you are the granddaughter of the old man from the prison, and that you and I are... married?" Trevor asked, choosing his words carefully.

"Don't get any dirty thoughts." Veronica raised her hand coldly to cut him off before he could go any further.

"First of all, this is entirely transactional. My grandfather taught you martial arts and used his connections to get you released early. In return, you will have the opportunity to live and make use of the Winchester family's influence as though it were your own. That includes our connections and our financial resources."

Veronica had always been someone who from a very young age was groomed to see the people around her as chess pieces on a board. To her, Trevor was simply one such piece. A piece that would help pull their family out of their current predicament. Nothing more and nothing less.

Hearing her lay it out so plainly, Trevor exhaled slowly in genuine relief. There was no embarrassment in him hearing those words and no anger either.

In fact, if he was being completely honest with himself, he had already been quietly dreading the idea of marrying Veronica. After everything he had experienced with Anne abandoning him the moment a wealthier option presented itself, the thought of entering a marriage with someone of Veronica's beauty and background while having nothing of his own to stand on felt like walking straight into the same trap wearing a different disguise.

If he were to marry her without any influence or standing of his own, he would end up as nothing more than a husband with no real voice in his own home.

So this arrangement was better. Far better. He would repay Old One's kindness by helping the Winchester family climb back out of their current situation, and once that was done he would leave quietly with his sister and whatever he had managed to build for himself during that time.

"I have something to take care of for now." Trevor said calmly as he turned to leave.

"Oh, I may come pick you up later," Veronica added immediately. "You will need to be staying at our residence going forward, and we need to at least play the part convincingly enough to be believed."

Trevor gave a single nod without breaking his stride and continued walking. Reaching the roadside he flagged down a passing taxi and climbed in without looking back.

Veronica stood watching the taxi pull away, and for a brief moment something unfamiliar stirred quietly inside her.

'Why didn't he even smile? Not even a fawning expression? It is as if to him I am just some completely ordinary girl.'

She stood there a moment longer than necessary before straightening herself.

'Let us see whether within the next few days, weeks, months or even years, you still manage to feel that way. Let us see.'

---

Back at the apartment, Trevor stepped out of the taxi and headed straight home through the familiar broken road of Low Town.

Inside, Diana had not slept even a single minute. She had been sitting upright on the bed the entire time, too consumed with fear that her brother had gone somewhere dangerous to even think about closing her eyes. The moment she saw him step through the door completely uninjured, she let out a long breath of relief that seemed to come from somewhere deep in her chest.

"Brother, you really didn't go there?" Diana asked, her voice carrying genuine surprise.

For him to return without a single scratch meant he had actually stayed away from the Dunn family.

"Of course I didn't go. I just went to the Buddha temple to pray and ask for karma to find its way to them naturally." Trevor said with an easy smile as he reached over and ruffled her hair affectionately.

He could not tell her what he had actually done. Those were not the kinds of things innocent younger sisters were meant to hear about.

Sensing she was about to press him with more questions, he immediately shifted direction.

"Now lie down and let me take a proper look at your legs."

Hearing those words, Diana immediately stiffened. "My... my legs? Forget it, brother. There is nothing to look at."

For the past years, her legs had become one of the heaviest sources of shame and inferiority she carried quietly within herself. She was afraid of whatever expression would cross her brother's face when he saw the full extent of it, and even more afraid of him feeling hurt on her behalf.

Seeing the look on her face, Trevor understood immediately what was going through her head. He sighed softly before speaking again.

"Don't worry. I just want to take a quick look. I am your brother so trust me on this one, okay? I am going to heal you."

"Brother, I am not a child and I know very well that you studied accounting and not medicine," Diana replied, her voice carrying equal parts doubt and reluctant hope as she slowly shifted to let him see. "The doctors already said there is nothing that can be done for my legs."

"Well the joke is on you then. This brother of yours spent his time in prison studying medicine under a very skilled old man." Trevor said, puffing his chest out with exaggerated pride.

"Really?" Diana narrowed her eyes at him with open suspicion. "It is not the illegal kind is it? And what exactly would a good doctor be doing sitting inside a prison in the first place? Brother, I am starting to suspect this old man taught you something very questionable."

Hearing her words, Trevor opened his mouth and then closed it again.

He had absolutely no idea how to respond to that.

---The name hit Andrew like a bucket of ice water tipped directly over his skull. His face drained of colour so completely and so instantly that it was almost impressive. It's over. Those were the only two words his brain could produce."I — I did not recognise you, Miss Dukester! Please, I beg you to forgive this ignorant fool! A person of your standing surely would not lower yourself to bother with someone as insignificant as me!"He was on his knees before he had consciously decided to kneel, his forehead moving toward the floor with genuine urgency. And with good reason.Elizabeth Dukester was not simply a prominent name in Light City. She was a legend in every circle that mattered. The number of genuinely dangerous individuals who had met their end at her hands was not a small figure. Anyone with real knowledge of the city's power structure knew better than to position themselves as her problem.Elizabeth looked down at him without any particular expression."Stop talking. If yo

---A second punch to the abdomen followed immediately after. Two hits in quick succession and Andrew could not even form words anymore. He was curled on the floor making sounds that did not resemble language.Diana stared at her brother from the side in stunned silence. She had not expected this at all. The brother who had left for prison was impulsive and reactive, someone who acted on emotion and paid for it. The brother who had come back moved with a quiet, settled ruthlessness that she did not recognise. He said something and then he simply did it, with no hesitation and no visible anger behind his eyes.It frightened her a little. And at the same time she could not look away.Trevor crouched down to Andrew's level and looked at him evenly."Diana came to you asking for money that was rightfully hers to access. And instead of helping her you had her beaten. That was you, wasn't it?"Andrew was in considerable pain but his pride would not let him stay quiet."So what if it was?"T

  • Chapter 14: Debts Are Paid One Way or Another

---Trevor unceremoniously produced the prescription and laid it out plainly."The Blood Jade Grass, Bone Renewal Vine, and Snow Mountain Lotus listed here must all be at minimum a hundred years old. There are also tiger leg bones required, and they must come from a fully grown adult male tiger, not a cub and not a female."Manuel Jokester's heart sank the moment those words landed.Every single ingredient on that list was considered extraordinarily precious within traditional medicine circles. If someone were to go out and source all of them together at the quality being demanded, the combined cost would run to no less than one million Federation Dollars at the very minimum. This was clearly the young man's way of making him pay for what had happened today. But as much as it hurt him deeply in the chest, he had no real choice but to agree. The alternative was facing the wrath of the woman standing behind him, and that particular outcome would cost him significantly more than one mill

---It was a matter of human life, so Trevor immediately moved to assess the condition of the beautiful woman without wasting another second. After a brief but focused examination, he reached forward and carefully untied the collar of her clothing.Resetting a dislocated cervical spine was not something that could be rushed. The neck had to be completely free of any constriction during the process, otherwise the reduction could be compromised and what was already a dangerous situation could very quickly become fatal. The beautiful woman had an excellent figure, something even Trevor's focused eyes could not entirely ignore, but he was not in any mood to dwell on it.With her collar loosened and the area fully accessible, he fixed his gaze on the dislocated cervical vertebrae and in one swift and deliberate movement reached out and pulled the misplaced needle clean out.A precise pinch. A careful push. The cervical spine returned to its original position. The moment the compression was

---"Your mouth is still as sharp as ever," Trevor shook his head in disbelief before letting out a quiet chuckle. "Please, show me your legs. Trust your brother on this."Hearing his words, Diana was silent for several seconds. After some visible internal struggle, she slowly lifted her skirt away from her legs.Due to being paralyzed for over two years, her legs had not moved in so long that they had thinned out considerably. Her knees carried several bruises, most likely from dragging herself around the room over the years, and the joints themselves showed a noticeable degree of displacement — bones sitting slightly out of their proper positions, likely from the original dislocation that had never been properly treated.Seeing this, despite having mentally prepared himself and fully expecting it to be a manageable situation, Trevor was still left momentarily stunned and quietly burning with a rage he forced himself to keep contained. He had never once imagined that his sister had b
