Chapter 1: From Witness to Culprit
"You need to come with us to the office." Trevor was taken aback to hear the words from one of the police officers. He saw the tall man approach him with a handcuff in his hands. "This doesn't make any sense at all. How could I be the one to be arrested when I was a witness here? YOU SHOULD BE THANKING ME INSTEAD!" he protested. "As if we will believe that." The police officer grinned as he glanced at the only woman near them. She only stood there, lowered her head, without daring to look at Trevor after saying things that were hard for him to believe. "Would you please repeat your words again, Miss? It was this person who had beaten and abused you, right?" the officer reassured her. The woman didn't answer right away. She was still looking down deeply. Her whole body trembling slightly. She did not dare to meet Trevor's eyes at all. Another man walked up to her. Someone who immediately made Trevor's blood boil. That man was the one who should be responsible for all of this. He's the one who should be arrested! "The officer asked you, honey. Tell him what happened," the man said as he put his arm around the woman's shoulder. The man whose face was bruised glanced at Trevor sarcastically before turning back to the woman. "You're not going to let me be framed like this, are you?" The woman reacted immediately. She raised her head to look at Trevor for a moment before averting her gaze at the two officers who were waiting for her response. "T-That's right. He's the one who did this to me. He offered to drive me home, b-but... s-suddenly he tried to kiss me. When I tried to run away, he kicked me from behind. H-He a-also... stomped on me, hit me, grabbed my hair," said the girl while lowering her head again. "Luckily my boyfriend, Frederick Dunn, showed up at just the right time t-to help me. H-However, this person beat him up instead. H-He th-then called the police and made up a story that Frederick was the one who did t-that--" "Miranda, why are you lying? Just tell them the truth!" Trevor interrupted hastily. "I-I am telling the truth!" "How could you?!" Trevor shouted in disbelief. He glanced at the police officers and said, "This is a slander. This woman must have been pressured by this bastard into saying all this--" "I DON'T LIE!" The woman suddenly screamed a little hysterically. Her gaze looked more and more convinced at Trevor. She pointed at him and said, "He's the one who did this to me, Sir. He tortured me. Hurt me. S-So... p-please get him out of my sight, sir. I DON'T WANT TO SEE HIM ANY LONGER!" Trevor was getting more lost for words hearing that. He really couldn't believe his good intentions would end up like this. Why did this woman stab someone who wanted to help her? "You heard it, right? Now you are coming with us," said the officer who came closer to start handcuffing him. "B-But I am completely innocent, sir. How could you treat me this way?" Trevor glanced at the woman again. "Hey, Miranda! You shouldn't do this. You should tell them the truth. Stop protecting that bastard!" The woman just kept her head down, allowing Trevor to be dragged by the officers into the patrol car. Meanwhile beside her, Frederick Dunn, the man grinned even more as he watched Trevor refuse to be taken away. "Please come with us to explain the details," said one of the police officers to the couple after locking Trevor in the patrol car. "Sure, Sir. We will cooperate. My girlfriend and I will oversee this case to ensure that the bastard gets a fair recompense for what he did," said the man while sending another mocking glance at Trevor through the car window. *** How did the incident start? A few hours ago, Trevor was just getting home from work after doing overtime. In the dark company parking lot, he suddenly heard a woman screaming. He saw an unpleasant incident in a car where a man tried to force himself on a woman. The woman tried to resist, but the man was way stronger than her. "Isn't she one of the staff from the marketing department?" For a moment, Trevor was confused about how to react. Should he interfere? But it was none of his business. However, things got worse when Miranda Johnson jumped out of the car and tried to escape. Unfortunately for her, the man followed her down to chase her. Trevor winced as the man kicked her violently from behind and the poor woman fell to the ground. It didn't stop there. The woman was stamped on repeatedly several times. He then dragged her hair back to the car. "Where are you going? You think you can get away from me?" he shouted viciously. "L-Let me go, Fred. Please stop hurting me," said the girl weakly while trying to release the rough grip on her hair. But her body kept being forcibly dragged by that heartless man. "You come with me. You will die by my hands tonight. How dare someone as low as you saying that to me?" While crying she said, "Please don't do this to me, Fred. It hurts!" Trevor froze for a moment at the uncivilized act but he finally came to his senses. His blood was boiling. For him, it is not appropriate for a man to be rude like that to a woman. Should he be looking for trouble by meddling in their affairs? He was hesitant at first, but he thought someone needed to stop the bastard. He is getting worse and worse. Trevor was worried that the woman might die if she was left with him. That's why he was finally making a move. He felt a responsibility to step in. Ignoring the fear in his mind, Trevor decided to approach them. "Only cowards treat women like that!"

Out Of Prison Chapter 30: Everyone's Running a Con
--- Scarlett turned on Garrett with the full weight of her frustration finding a new target. "And you." She pointed at him without looking at Frederick or Margaret. "I've told you before about dealings with people like this. Cut contact. Completely. Are we clear?" Garrett nodded repeatedly with the energy of a man who understood his position perfectly. Scarlett grabbed Elizabeth by the arm and pulled her toward the office before anyone else could complicate the situation further. --- Inside, she closed the door and dropped the professional mask entirely. "Did you find anything? About whoever broke Scorpio's arm?" Elizabeth settled into the chair across from her. "Nothing. Whoever it was left no trace worth following." Scarlett chewed on that for a moment. "Has to be someone operating outside the normal circles. Nobody we've catalogued." "Probably." Elizabeth didn't seem particularly troubled by the mystery. Scarlett let it go for now and shifted forward in her seat with an
