Chapter 22. Twisted Evidence

With curiosity and terror glinting in Mr. Halls' eyes, he was gazing expectantly at the door when another sergeant, Lucia, walked in.

"Sir!" She saluted firmly. "There's this lady, Chloe Jones, who wishes to speak with you."

"A lady?" He echoed the blonde sergeant. "What did she say?"

"She said Lexie's her niece," Lucia said. "And she wanna speak with you. She's in a fit of panic, sir."

A fit of panic. Mr. Halls sighed, feeling distressed and exhausted. The whole thing was complicated. Lexie had never mentioned she had an aunt. He thought and heaved a sigh again. " Let her in, then…" This was unusual.

In no time, a tall brown-haired lady in a short sleeveless free gown walked into his office. Not like he cared but she was stunning like her niece, Lexie. No doubt about them being related 'cause they look alike. But her countenance was grave.
