“Miller was looking at Alex as if he saw a ghost, he didn't expect to see him in front of his door.

“Uncle Miller, it feels like ages since I last saw you. You look like you are my  Older brother now.”

Victor Miller got emotional and his eyes were filled with tears. He could not believe that Alex Cole, his  friend's son, was standing in front of him. “I have been looking for you. I am glad God listened to my prayers and sent you my way.” he rubbed Alex’s shoulders before pulling him for a hug.

He pulled him into the main lounge in his mansion.  Victor Miller had spent  a lot of money modernizing his home.

“Molly, Rena!” He called his wife and his daughter, “We have an important guest.”

As they got to the main lounge, Molly was standing there, watching the TV, just in her bathrobe. It was evident that she had just taken a shower. She looked in her father’s direction and saw the stranger standing near him.

“Who is this fucking Creep?” She screamed before racing to her room.

“Miller, really?” His wife scolded, “Molly was almost naked and you let some strange man in without telling us.”

“Until when will you stop letting stemage people into this house anyhow?”

“Alex is no stranger to the house and she was not even naked. If she was naked, what would be the problem?” He fired back at his wife.

“He is Alex Cole?” Rena asked taking another investigating look at him then her expression became sour. “Why did you come here? Have you come here to mooch off us?”

Alex got what she meant, right after his parents had passed away, he had shown interest in martial arts and medicine.

His sister on the other hand preferred to roam about the world, traveling, so their distant relatives had taken over their family company.

“I heard you have nothing to your name now, have you come here to ask my husband to return the money that your father had lent him for his business?” She asked in aggressive tone which annoyed her husband.

“That is enough!” Miller yelled at her. “Go and make some food for us. Alex is back here, we are going to have a drink so stop spewing nonsense if you don't want to get one my bad side tonight,”

Seeing that her husband was already very angry and she did not like to get on his bad side, she hissed before dragging her feet to the kitchen.

Miller led Alex to the wine bar, he beamed with joy. Even Alex did not expect that he would be that happy to see him.

“I am glad that you have come to see me, you are starting to look more like your father. I miss him so much, he helped with my business with a lot of money. I would not be where I am today if no because of your father that didn’t treat me like the investors that didn't want to invest in my company.”

“To repay what your father did to me and how he made me rich, I am going to let you marry my daughter.”

Rena and Molly suddenly reappeared at the table.

“Miller, why would you suggest that my daughter marry him? Milly is supposed to marry into a very wealthy family, That is the only way our family’s business can grow so bigger than it is. Do you want our wealth to get blown off like his family's own?

“Keep your mouth shut, Rena.”

“Dad, mom is not lying, neither is she saying rubbish, if you are trying to get me to marry him to repay your debt, you should just give him the million dollar as his father had given you for your business. I can't see myself living with that man as my husband.”

Milly complained, folding her arms together and pouting seriously.

“You don't have any say in this, Molly!” Miller face dhis daughter

Alex felt embarrassed at their behavior because they kept treating like he had come to collect money from them or to marry Molly. He had neither of the two ideas in his intentions.

“I am not here to get paid for my father’s investment.” he assured them, “I am already comfortable being a doctor, i earn enough upkeep to keep my life running smoothly”

Molly and Rena’s hare resolve against Alex was starting to dissolve, Rena was starting to get comfortable around him. She sat on the chair opposite him and asked, “So which opposite do you work at?”

With pride, Alex answered, “I work as a doctor in the medicine village.”

“Mtchewww.” Rena hissed out loud. “Look at me thinking that he had a proper job when he said he was a doctor and earning a good pay. You are working in the medicine Village, not even a big hospital. You better not dream of getting married to my daughter or else I will…” just before Rena would complete her statement, someone knocked on the door.

She went to get the door, an old man was standing in front of the door, he had just come down from a Rolls Royce that was sitting in front of their house. A big smile formed on Rena’s face, “How many i help you, sir?”

The old man who was the butler of the Bourne family spoke curtly , “I am here to pick up Doctor Alex Cole.” The smile on her face faded off and she returned into the house.

Molly’s full attention was now on the Rolls Royce. Her father was rich but not rich enough to buy such exotic car.

“You have come to ull a trick on us right? How can a doctor from the medicine village own a Rolls royce? Is it even realistic? Even your salary in a hundred years can not buy the car.” Rena sneered at him.

“Employing someone to act as your chauffeur and chaperone. You also rented an exotic car but unfortunately for you we are not stupid to fall for such tricks.”

Hearing her mother’s words, Molly was so pissed, “Are you so desperate to marry me that you went to the extent of resorting to cheap tricks?”

He drew it out smoothly and set it down on the table between them with a soft click.A golden card. The lighting in the bar caught the surface instantly, throwing a sharp gleam across the polished wood.It wasn’t flashy gold paint or cheap shine. Thea sat at her desk, three heavy envelopes laid out before her, each bearing the crest of the Smith family the intertwined black and silver sigil that carried weight across the country. Each envelope was slightly different. Different handwriting. Different thickness. Different energy. They were invitations.Polished. Formal. Calculated. But no matter how fine the paper or how elegant the phrasing, Thea knew exactly what lay beneath.Marriage proposals. The Smith brothers had made their move.Thea leaned back in her chair, studying the envelopes like a general studying the battlefield. She had seen this coming. Felt it in the way their interactions had shifted from rivalry to alliance to something heavier, more dangerous.Affection.Ambition.Possession.She tapped her fingers lightly against the desk, thinking. It wasn’t anger she felt.It was... regret.Because if things were different, if her world was simpler, if her heart hadn’t already tilted somewhere else without permissio

More than expected. More than medicine alone should have allowed. She trusted Dr. Nelson’s skills, but he wasn’t easily impressed. If he said something unusual was happening, it wasn’t just politeness. It was a fact.Thea ran a hand through her hair, her fingers snagging against a knot. She needed answers. Her mind turned, slowly at first, then faster, piecing things together. There had been another visitor before she left for training. Someone Reed had brought, someone important enough that even Thor Walton had agreed to meet him.Master Roman Reigns.Thea frowned slightly, trying to remember every detail Reed had given her at the time. There hadn't been much. Ju

"Morning to you too."She didn't smile. "Let me guess. Late because you had a busy night?"Alex tilted his head slightly, pretending to think. "Define busy."Thea scoffed, the sound sharp and bitter. Thea was still leaning against the far wall of the dojo when the door slid open quietly. She straightened instinctively, wiping the emotion from her face as General Earlton entered. Her body screamed for motion, for action, but Alex gave no command to strike. He circled her slowly, hands folded behind his back, observing every muscle twitch with a detached calm that made Thea grind her teeth."Focus on the breath," Alex said."I'm focused enough," Thea snapped."Then you wouldn’t be shifting your weight like a drunk soldier," he said without raising his voice. Her nostrils flared. She straightened, forcing her heels to root into the ground as he had instructed earlier, but her mind raced ahead to the sparring she expected. She wasn't here to meditate.
