CHAPTER EIGHT

Robert walked out of the hospital with a smile on his face, he remembered walking into the hospital yesterday with dirty clothes and without a cent but now he is coming out of the hospital with a debit card containing hundreds of millions and something with the potential of making ten times the money in his debit card and he was putting on a new cloth for the second time in his entire life, he was always wearing the clothes that his brothers in-law were tired of.

He pinched himself continuously to confirm whether this was all a dream or not because none of this feels real, his smile widened the more as he felt the pain.

He was thinking of going home now to meet his in-laws but he kicked against the idea, he no longer need them in his life any longer.

"Ummm... It would be best to spend the day in the hotel and decide the next step that I need to take with this money" he muttered and walked to the nearest ATM machine to withdraw money to board a taxi that will take him to a luxurious hotel.

His heart leapt with joy with every step that he took.

"The feeling of having money is sure splendid and wonderful" Robert thought to himself.

"Any news about Robert's whereabouts yet?" Mr Derrick asked furiously while pacing up and down the sitting room with uneasiness, his face clearly showed anger.

"He isn't someone that important to just get angry over because he is missing, we can get easily find someone to replace him to with, there are many people in the streets who will jump at the offer of free food, clothes and a place to lay the head" Mrs. Alice said and slumped on the chair lazily.

Mr. Derrick scoffed and looked at her with anger in his eyes, his brows were furrowed. "What are you saying woman?" He asked in disbelief.

"This act will tarnish our image in the public, the rumors of back then haven't died down completely yet and have you forgotten what that costed us then, huh? We lost millions and huge contracts, do you want that to happen again?" He asked, looking at everyone and they all avoided his gaze once they saw that his eyes was on them.

"We can always cook up a believable story and sell it to the public and the media, at least we have friends who will sugarcoat it for us in the media" Dylan said with a slight scoff, he was happy that the good for nothing was finally out of their lives and he said was praying it is going to be like this forever.

"What the fuck are you saying, Dylan?" Mr. Derrick asked, surprised at his own family. It was crystal clear that they all hate Robert but all he was just concerned about is the loss that this news would cause once it goes out of the house.

"For once, I agree with Dylan" Davies said, his eyes still glued on the television, he was playing FIFA and was barely listening to their conversation.

"Word of this must not get out to the public, it must not leave the four corners of this room" Mr. Derrick warned as he climbed up the stairs to his room, clearly pissed at his family.

He had just signed a huge contract that was worth millions with a multimillion company, he had been chasing it for a long while.

If a word of this just mistakenly leaves the four corners of this house he was done for, because the rumor or rather the news that spread and nearly destroyed all his hard earned fortune would be resurrected again and it was more than enough to destroy the contract.

Cassy barely said anything, she just walked to her room shortly after her father had left. She blamed herself partially for leaving the useless man she calls her husband alone to wander off in the street, of she had known she would have chosen a better option and put him in the boot before driving off because then, he would still be close to her and he would have no place to escape to.

Cassy stopped immediately and a sinister smile appeared on her face. "Robert is going to come back" she said to herself.

She was a hundred percent certain that Robert is going to come back home, since he didn't have anywhere else to go and she was sure that he wasn't with any money when she left him. He wasn't going to last on the street, he might probably die from hunger or the hunger will force him to come back to them, he clearly have no other choice, she knew him better than anyone among her family.

She smiled as the thought of what she will do to him once he gets back filled her mind, the images of the torture and punishment she will put him through filled her head.

Cassy determined she was going to make life a living hell for him, she planned on multiplying what he was going through by ten folds, a hundred fold if possible.

"Good evening ma'am" a maid that was walking by bowed slightly, drawing Cassy out of her thoughts.

Cassy face morphed from the mysterious expression and a sinister smile to a deadly angry look, the maid shivered in fear.

"How many times have I told you to always kneel whenever you see me passing and bend your head low to the ground, huh?!" Cassy yelled at the maid that quickly went on her knee and bent her head to the floor.

Cassy walked towards the maid and pulled her up by her hair which she packed in a ponytail to her feet.

The maid yelled in pain, begging Cassy to release her hair, trying to release the latter's hand with her own.

"Get your stinky poverty stricken hands off mine" Cassy yelled at her and she obliged, tears were already streaming down her face endlessly.

Cassy slapped the maid with her other free hand, released her and spat on her disgustingly before walking off feeling satisfied.
