"Move to the left, Marcus," Lyra screamed, her voice cracking as she threw her body across the rocky cavern floor.

The giant stone golem charged through the darkness like a runaway mountain. Its massive feet shattered the ground with every single step, creating small craters in the stone. Marcus did not have time to think. He twisted his body, utilizing his enhanced agility to leap backward just as a giant stone fist slammed into the earth right where he had been standing. The shockwave blew hair into his eyes and sent sharp gravel slicing through the air.

"Why is this thing only chasing me," Marcus yelled, scrambling back to his feet as the monster pivoted its massive body, completely ignoring Lyra who was standing just a few feet away with her crossbow raised.

"It is the amulet," Lyra shouted back, ducking beneath a shower of falling rocks. "The guardian is locked onto the specific magical signature of that dragon relic. It thinks you are an intruder trying to steal the ancient royal treasures."

"Can I just take it off," Marcus asked, his chest heaving as he ducked beneath a massive sweeping arm that shattered a nearby stalagmite into dust.

"Do not dare touch that chain," Lyra yelled, firing a steel bolt directly into the golem’s knee joint. "The moment you take it off, the green gas paralysis from the main room will return to your body. You will be a sitting duck. We have to destroy it."

"Tell me how to kill it then," Marcus roared, dodging another downward smash that missed his shoulder by mere inches. "My fists are strong, but this thing is solid bedrock."

"Look at the base of its neck," Lyra directed, pointing her crossbow at the monster’s upper back. "There is a glowing blue core holding those stones together. That is its life source. I will draw its attention. When it turns around, you need to climb it and smash that core."

"Make it quick, Lyra," Marcus said, his leg muscles tense as he prepared to spring. "I cannot dodge these fists forever."

Lyra sprinted to the right, screaming at the top of her lungs and waving her arms wildly. She pulled a small, explosive fire flask from her utility pouch and threw it directly at the golem’s face. The flask shattered upon impact, creating a brilliant burst of orange flames that covered the monster's glowing blue eyes.

The golem let out a deep, mechanical roar of confusion, its massive head turning toward the source of the fire.

"Now, Marcus, go," Lyra screamed, scrambling behind a boulder for cover.

Marcus exploded forward, his enhanced legs propelling him through the air with incredible power. He planted his bare foot directly onto the golem’s rocky knee, using the momentum to launch himself higher. He grabbed a jagged ridge on the creature’s thigh, pulling his body upward with his massive strength, and scrambled up the monster's spine like a wild animal.

He reached the shoulders just as the golem realized it had a rider. The beast began to thrash violently, shaking its massive frame from side to side to throw him off. Marcus clung tightly to a stone ridge with his left hand, his fingers digging deep into the rock. With his right hand, he snatched up a sharp, jagged piece of shattered obsidian that had fallen onto the monster's shoulder during the earlier cave-in.

"This ends right now," Marcus roared, raising the glass-like shard high into the air.

He drove the sharp obsidian piece downward with all the monstrous strength he possessed, plunging it directly into the center of the glowing blue power core. The glass shard shattered inside the mechanism, disrupting the flow of magical energy.

The golem stiffened instantly, its massive stone arms freezing mid-air. The blue light in its eyes began to flicker and flash violently, pulsing like a failing heartbeat.

"Get off it, Marcus," Lyra yelled, her voice filled with panic. "It is going to blow."

Marcus let go of the ridge and threw himself backward, rolling away across the cavern floor just as the giant stone golem exploded into thousands of tiny fragments.

A massive shockwave of pure, high-grade mana essence swept across the cavern, showering Marcus and Lyra in a brilliant blue mist. Marcus braced himself for an impact, but as the glowing blue mist touched his skin, it began to sink directly into his pores. He gasped as a cold, electric sensation rushed through his veins, settling deep inside his chest.

Marcus looked down at his feet in absolute amazement. His own shadow on the cavern floor was moving entirely independent of his body. It was stretching, expanding, and rising up around his limbs like a thick, protective shroud of black smoke before settling back onto the stone.

"What in the world was that," Marcus whispered, staring at his hands. "My shadow just moved on its own."

"You just absorbed the guardian's shadow magic," Lyra said, stepping out from behind her boulder, her jaw dropping as she watched the black mist fade. "The ancient Vance rulers were masters of shadow manipulation. Your bloodline is unlocking its true potential with every magical beast you slay."

Before Marcus could even respond, a strange, low hum vibrated from the broken pieces of the golem's core on the floor. A faint blue light projected upward into the dark cavern air, forming a shaky, glowing holographic image of an old man dressed in royal Vance armor.

"Grandfather," Marcus gasped, taking a step toward the projection.

"Marcus, my boy," the holographic image spoke, its voice crackling with static and age. "If you are seeing this message, it means you have successfully entered the Wilds and claimed the dragon relic. Our family has been hunted for generations, and I must tell you the absolute truth before it is too late."

"What truth," Marcus asked the projection, knowing the magic could not hear him but unable to stop himself from speaking.

"The portal hidden in your cell is not a mechanical gate," his grandfather’s image explained, the blue light flickering rapidly. "The physical rift is just a doorway. The true portal key is encoded directly into your very bloodline, your own DNA. You are the living key, Marcus. And you must understand that your uncle Thomas knows this secret."

Marcus felt a cold lump form in his stomach. "Thomas knows?"

"Yes," the old man's voice crackled. "Thomas did not frame you just to steal our coin and lands. He framed you because he needs to capture you alive. He wants to drain your blood to force the main gates of the Wilds open permanently, allowing a dark army to march into our world. Do not trust anyone in that prison, Marcus. The key is inside your—"

The holographic projection suddenly shattered into thousands of tiny blue sparks, cutting the old man's final sentence completely short.

Marcus didn't have time to process the terrifying warning about his uncle. A second later, a deafening, thunderous explosion echoed through the air. It was not coming from the cavern walls, and it was not coming from the temple ruins. The terrifying sound was vibrating directly out from the center of the portal vortex inside Marcus’s own soul, carrying the distinct, heavy smell of gunpowder and burning metal.

"What is that noise," Lyra shouted, covering her ears as the ground beneath them shook from the interdimensional echo. "It sounds like a war is starting on the other side."

"That is dynamite," Marcus said, his face turning incredibly pale as he gripped his fists tightly. "They are blasting my cell door back in the prison. The guards are storming my room right now."
