Centuries ago, there was once lived a powerful Dragon Lord.
He ruled over the heavens and the earth. He was known, and crowned with a Title, as the balance between Death and Life, Despair and Rebirth. His powers were strong enough to make his palace avoided by almost every living soul. From this fear, Humans avoided any act which would anger him. Soon, he was known as The Shadow Lord, The King of the Realms, The Ancient Serpent. Every five years, The Four Elemental Dragons would come together at his Palace on the mountain top, to have a simple talk, or rather still worship his existence. This continued, for a hundred years... Until, The Darkness arrived. The Void of Destruction. The end of all. Doomsday. It threatened the existence of life itself and sought to bring about the collapse of the realms. So, the Ancient Dragon challenged the darkness, something the old gods were afraid to accomplish. This challenge caused the Earth to rumble, the volcanoes, erupted... Nothing was at peace. Thus, The Humans thought the Ancient, All-Powerful Dragon had joined hands with the darkness to destroy all that existed in this world. So, they practiced magic, to defeat the Dragon who no one knew, had just accomplished saving the realms from Doomsday. Those who were able to master this act, awakened the Pure Blood, and were able to use various arts. On that day, An era known as the Beginning of the End – They marched onto the mountains with magic strong enough to make the heavens shake. These humans became known as Dragonslayers, the first to end the reign of dragons, to challenge the Elemental beasts of remarkable powers, and seal their bodies for eternity. The man who personally "killed" the Ancient Dragon, after a fight lasting a total of three dawns, five dusks, alongside a lunar eclipse night, Founded the Eclipsera Academy, with a mission to raise future Dragonslayers to fight against the monsters and any darkness from the abyss. However, the Abyssal Void, from which the first Corruption escaped, wasn’t fully closed by the Ancient Dragon... And Doomsday is bound to return one day... So, as well, is the Rebirth of the Ancient Dragon. ******* "Hey, Kael! You won't believe what just happened.... Mom got me a new pair of designer shoes, and guess what?" "What?" Kael asked, pressing his phone between his shoulder and ear while placing a few groceries on the counter. "She also said, 'My darling Kael would need one as well.' So I'm basically your surprise messenger; I basically called to tell you you've got one too, and when you get home, we would probably use it for a good old gathering ceremony..." Kael stepped out of the shop, adjusting his grip on the bag. The afternoon sun glazed the pavement with warmth, but something in his chest felt cold. "The truth be told; You know you could've just bought it yourself… if you didn't waste money on useless junk n' stuffs.." "No, no, I needed that scooter. I needed that bike! Never mind me, How's school?" Kael paused mid-step on the busy street, narrowing his eyes slightly. "It's fine. Everything's going well…" "Then why the sad tone?" "Sad tone?" "Yeah, man! I've been your brother for fourteen years. I know your voice face—even if I'm not seeing you!" Kael sighed and adjusted the grocery bag again. "Well… you got me. There's an English competition going on. The prize money's kinda huge... but…" "But—?" The street was loud. Horns, voices, footsteps. But suddenly, a screech tore through it all, the raw metal dragging across asphalt. A car swerved, tires smoking. Kael reacted fast, his feet moving before thought, leaping backwards as the vehicle smashed into the curb, releasing a cloud of smoke and gas. Nearby cars slammed on brakes. People screamed. "Kael?! Bro?! Kael, can you hear me?! What just happened?!" Kael coughed and gripped his phone, voice low. "I'll call you back." He hung up and steadied himself, pulse racing, "What the heck... My foodstuffs," As he crouched to gather the groceries scattered near the curb, a bloodstained hand latched onto his sleeve. He froze. A man lay broken nearby, eyes hazy but locked onto his face. "My Lord, I'm sorry... for meeting you like this...," the man whispered. "I have waited for your return for ages, But I'm glad to see your face before I die. And also, to tell you to seal the Abyssal Void again... the corruption is leaking... Please…" Kael leaned in, eyes wide. "What are you talking about?" "I was attacked. Center Park by the Slayers, since I am not an ordinary one, but a creature who has taken many forms but when you were just a toddler, I couldn't get to you, all because your family left the town. But then, after all those years,... I sensed your presence. I didn't believe it—until now." The man winced, clutching his wound. "Stop talking!" Kael lowered him gently, pressing down to slow the bleeding. "Someone call an ambulance!" "It's too late…," The man lifted his trembling fingers to Kael's forehead. "I can't make you remember everything. But please… remember my name…" Suddenly, Kael's head split with a surge of pain, it was similar to a brick which had dropped onto his skull. He gasped. The world darkened. A memory flashed.... Nighttime... A summer field.... A willow tree, with its flexible branches swaying. An elderly man eating berries beside a young woman. He approached. The man looked up, smiling calmly. "You hate coming outside. So... why now?" His name… Kael remembered. "Ren?" he whispered. Then the memory faded. And the man's body slowly dematerialized, as he replied, "I am glad you remembered my name." ***** "Let me get this straight," the detective said, arms folded. "A dying old man, roughly ninety, bleeding out, held your hand and mumbled something you didn't understand?" Kael nodded. "Yes." "And there are no blood stains. No evidence. Not even on your clothes?" "Yes." "Then, suddenly, his body vanished or rather still, someone took him away, using the smoke screen to their advantages.." Kael nodded again. "Probably, Yes." The detective rubbed his face and pinched the bridge of his nose. "Your name again?" "Kael Von." "Alright, Mister Kael. What's saving you right now is that, we've checked your records, which came out... Clean. But given this situation, you're still on our radar. We'll be keeping an eye on you." He walked off toward a cluster of officers, leaving Kael standing still. 'That memory...it was mine?' He thought to himself, 'But why can't I recall it? I've lived my whole life with Mom, Dad, and Luke… haven't I?' The street buzzed around him. Voices, and some Reports. Yet it all felt hollow, kind of disconnected. Nothing made sense, no single word. Then something caught his eye. A man. Not just anyone, but someone strikingly dressed. But, he was old, with golden-blond hair streaked with silver, Shoulder-length, and Glasses perched perfectly. He wasn't staring, but something about his look seemed judgemental. Kael's phone buzzed again, he glanced down to the screen, before looking back up. The man was gone. "That was odd…," Kael muttered, answering the call. "Hey, Lu—" "THANK HEAVENS! I've been calling you nonstop. You ended the call earlier. Are you okay?! I was about to tell Mom—" "I'm fine, Luke. There was an accident." "You had an accident?!" "No, I witnessed one." "Oh man! You scared me! Were there any casualties?" "None. Just an old man… who passed away. But all's good now." Kael checked his bag—groceries intact. "O–okay. Switching topics—but did you hear about the new park—?" Park? Kael froze. Center Park. That's where the man said he'd been injured. That meant something. "Luke, I'll call you back." He hung up before Luke could spiral. Then, as he turned to cross the street, a firm hand grabbed his shoulder. Kael turn around only to see the same man. Blond-silver hair, that mysterious gaze, and Unbothered expression. "Kael Von?" Kael blinked, heart hammering. "Yes? Why? What? What?" "You see me?" Kael frowned, "What sort of stupid question is that, of course I can see you, just the way I see everyone!" The man slipped a sleek black card into his hand. "Tonight. Midnight. Take the subway train. It will bring you to where you're meant to be, and I'll be on it to explain half of everything..." Kael stared at the card. 'What are you—" "Also, Do not go to the park." Kael raised his eyes, "How do you—" But the man was gone.Latest Chapter
An old friend's ofger
The hallway was silent, lit only by the flickering blue pulse of the lamps mounted high on the stone walls. Kael waited, his heart thumping a frantic rhythm against his ribs, until he heard the soft, rhythmic squeak of the night nurse’s cart fading around the corner.Now.He slid out of the bed, his bare feet hitting the cold linoleum floor with a faint slap. A sharp jolt of pain shot through his shoulder—a reminder of the crushing weight of foolishly sliding down a downslope filled with rocks—but he gritted his teeth and pushed through it. He didn't grab his hospital robe; he just moved in his thin tunic, sticking to the shadows like a smudge of ink. He felt like a stranger in his own body, his movements heavy and uncoordinated. Why does the air feel so heavy? he wondered, his internal monologue racing. It’s like the oxygen is thick with dust. Or maybe it’s just me. Maybe the dragon inside is finally starting to suffocate in this cage.He reached the heavy glass doors leading to the
The Bitter Taste Of Recovery
The morning air in the recovery wing was cold, carrying the sharp scent of pine and floor wax. Kael lay on his back, staring at a small crack in the ceiling tiles. Every time he breathed deeply, he could feel the ghost of the fire that had erupted in the forest—a tight, searing pressure in the center of his chest that refused to fade.A tray of breakfast sat on the rolling table beside him. The oatmeal was cold and gummy, and the orange juice had a metallic tang that set his teeth on edge. He pushed the tray away with a frustrated sigh."Eat it," Ash’s voice drifted from the corner. The boy was sitting on the windowsill, kicking his legs back and forth. He had a fresh lollipop—green apple this time—tucked into the corner of his mouth. "You need the fuel, Kael. Dragons don't live on air and good intentions, even if you’ve forgotten how to be one.""I don't feel like a dragon," Kael muttered, sat up slowly. The room spun for a second before steadying. "I feel like a bruised peach. My sk
Calm Disturbances
Kael was still propped up against the hospital pillows, watching the sun dip lower through the window. The room was quiet until the shadows near the armchair stretched and warped. Ash stepped out, his small hand still pressed against his shoulder where the sweater was torn."Cedric’s moving," Ash said, skipping the greeting. He popped his lollipop back in his mouth. "Three months. He’s planning a raid on the Zenka River. He wants to kill the Water Dragon before she fully wakes up. He’s putting Kei in charge of the vanguard."Kael’s grip tightened on the bedsheets. "A raid? On a sanctuary?""He doesn't care about sanctuary," Ash grunted, sitting on the edge of the bed. "He cares about the power inside that Temple. He almost caught me eavesdropping, too. The old man’s got a mean throw."Before Kael could respond, the heavy door to the room creaked open. Both of them turned, their faces instantly brightening.Eleanor stepped inside. She was as striking as ever, her long blonde hair casca
The Zenka Mendate
The air inside Principal Cedric’s office was stagnant, smelling of old paper and the sharp tang of expensive tobacco. Cedric sat behind his mahogany desk, his eyes locked on the scorched gold cylinder recovered from the forest. When Kei stepped in, Cedric didn't look up immediately. He reached up with his middle finger and adjusted his glasses, a sharp glint reflecting off the lenses."Sit, Kei," Cedric said. His voice was low, devoid of its usual administrative edge. "You look less like a corpse than you did a week ago. That’s an improvement.""I'm ready for duty, sir," Kei replied. He took the chair across from the desk, his back straight, his eyes never leaving the Principal’s face.Cedric leaned back, the leather chair creaking under his weight. He adjusted his glasses again. "Your stunt in the forest—the 100th Blessing. It was a mess, Kei. A successful mess, but a mess nonetheless. You nearly wiped out your entire squad along with that spider.""We got what you asked for," Kei sa
The scars we heal from
The high-pitched hum of the Health Center's stabilizers had finally been replaced by the natural sounds of Eclipsera Academy—the distant chime of the clock tower, the rustle of wind through the ancient oaks, and the muffled chatter of students in the courtyard. It had taken weeks, not days, for the "Troga Survivors" to truly return to the world of the living.Dash was the first to be officially discharged, though he was far from who he used to be. The Academy’s engineers had fitted him with a temporary prosthetic—a sleek, matte-black arm made of reinforced polymers that responded to his neural impulses. It felt heavy and cold, a constant reminder of the Shadow Monster that had actually cut through his flesh. He spent his afternoons in the firing range, relearning the balance of his pistol with a hand that didn't feel like his own. Every "click" of the trigger was a step toward reclaiming his pride.... Or tossing it aside Cynthia followed shortly after. The fractures in bones had heal
Remember who you are
Kael shifted on the hospital bed, the crisp white sheets rustling under his weight. The room felt too quiet now that Ash had dropped his playful act. The late afternoon sun was beginning to dip, casting a long, orange glow across the floor that reminded Kael far too much of the fire that had leveled the Troga Forest."The scroll," Kael began, his voice barely a murmur. "Principal Cedric has it now. He thinks it’s a map to a monster."Ash moved the lollipop to the side of his cheek, his small face tightening. "It is a map. But not to a monster. It leads to the River of Zenka. You remember Zenka, don't you? Even with those holes in your head?"Kael shook his head slowly. "The name sounds like a bell ringing in a far-off room. I can’t grab it.""It’s an old island," Ash explained, pacing the small space between the bed and the window. "It sits right beside an old mountain that used to be my sanctuary. Back when my wings could actually block out the sun. But the river that flows beside it
