CHAPTER 1 — THE DISOWNED HEIR
Rain hammered against the windows of the Hale Corporation boardroom, drowning out the faint hum of the air conditioner. Leon Hale stood alone at the center of the polished marble floor, palms clammy, heartbeat an uneven drum inside his chest. Around him, the board members whispered like circling vultures, their eyes sharp, hungry.
His father’s voice cut through the room. Cold. Final. “Leon Hale,” Alexander Hale said, laying a folder on the table as if placing a verdict, “you have committed fraud under this company’s name. You’ve tampered with internal accounts, and because of your irresponsibility, we have lost nearly thirty million dollars.” The accusation twisted through Leon’s stomach like a blade. “I didn’t do it,” he managed, voice cracking. “Dad, I swear—I didn’t touch any accounts. You know me. You know I wouldn’t—” “Enough.” Alexander’s glare turned him small. “The evidence is right here.” But it wasn’t evidence—at least not truthfully. Leon had seen it only twenty minutes ago, shoved in front of him without explanation. Digital signatures forged. Transaction trails fabricated. All of them pointing to him. All of them crafted by hands he trusted. Hands belonging to Eveline Hale, his stepmother. She sat at the head of the table beside Alexander, lips painted a soft pink, eyes glistening sympathetically—fake sympathy. Leon had grown up seeing that smile. A smile she used when she wanted something destroyed. “Leon,” Eveline said softly, placing a manicured hand over her husband’s, “no one wants this. But hiding from your mistakes will only destroy you further. Be responsible for once.” Her tone felt like honey coating poison. Leon clenched his shaking hands. “I didn’t do this. Eveline, why are you—” “Do not speak to your stepmother that way,” Alexander snapped. The tightness in Leon’s chest flared. He looked around the boardroom—the suits who had watched him grow up, the people who once clapped for him at company events, all now staring as though he were a criminal. “Dad,” Leon whispered, throat burning, “please… just listen.” But Alexander wasn’t listening. He was signing. With a single stroke of a pen, Leon’s life—his last anchor—was cut. “You are stripped of the Hale name,” Alexander said, standing as though disgusted by the sight of him. “You are no longer my son. Security will escort you out.” Leon’s breath left him in one painful exhale. This couldn’t be real. It couldn’t be happening. “Dad—!” “Take him.” Two guards grabbed him by the arms. Leon didn’t resist. His legs felt numb anyway. The coldness in his father’s eyes would stay in his memory longer than any bruise. As he was dragged to the elevator, he looked back one last time. Eveline met his eyes. And smiled. A victory smile. --- The world outside was unforgiving. The sky was dark, the streets soaked in rain. Leon stood on the sidewalk, the security guards tossing his ID card onto the ground like trash. He picked it up slowly. Leon Hale — Vice President, Hale Corporation. The title no longer belonged to him. Just like his name. Just like everything else. His phone buzzed. Vanessa Crowe. His girlfriend of two years. Someone he thought would stand by him. He answered immediately, desperate for at least one person to hear him. “Vanessa—thank God. Listen, something happened at the company. They framed me. I need—” “Leon,” she interrupted coldly, “we need to talk.” Her voice was distant. Even rehearsed. “I can’t be with you anymore.” His heart slammed against his ribs. “What? Vanessa, what are you saying? You know I didn’t—” “I can’t be associated with a scandal like this,” she said. “My family is already on the edge in the industry. Being with you will ruin everything.” “Vanessa—” “And honestly,” she continued, “I’ve been thinking about ending things for months. This just makes it easier.” He froze. “I’m sorry, Leon. I hope you… figure out your life.” The call ended. The world didn’t stop, but something in him did. --- Two weeks later. Leon stood on the worn cement floor of a dim, dusty warehouse. A dozen boxes towered around him, each double his weight. The air smelled of oil, iron, and exhaustion. This was his new job. Warehouse laborer. A Hale heir reduced to cheap manpower. His breath came in shallow pulls as he lifted another crate. His arms trembled, his back screamed, but he forced himself to keep moving. The supervisor’s whistle sliced through the space. “MOVE FASTER, rich boy!” Mason Briggs. A man with a belly that strained against his shirt and a smirk permanently glued to his face. He loved having power over someone who once outranked him socially. Loved it so much it showed in every cruel command. “Hey, Hale!” Mason called out, strolling toward him. “Or should I say—ex Hale?” He chuckled. “How does it feel? From penthouse to packing boxes?” Leon lowered his gaze. “Please… I’m working. Just let me do my job.” Mason grabbed the crate in Leon’s hands—and shoved it deliberately. It crashed onto Leon’s foot. Pain ripped up his leg. Leon gritted his teeth, breath shaking. “Ooops,” Mason said mockingly. “Be more careful. Boxes don’t respect fallen princes.” The warehouse workers laughed. Leon swallowed the humiliation, but it burned like acid. He had no power here. Nowhere to run. Nowhere to speak. Just survival. He lifted the crate again, forcing his injured foot to hold. Hours passed. By the time night fell, the pain was unbearable. His clothes were soaked in sweat and dirt. His hands were raw. He stepped outside, leaning on the cold wall of the warehouse, letting the night air hit him. His vision blurred. His chest tightened. Everything was gone. His family. His name. His future. His love. Tears slid down his face before he could stop them. “Why?” The word escaped him brokenly. “Why did everything… why me?” The sound of his own voice echoing in the empty alleyway made something inside him snap. He slid down to the ground, covering his face with trembling hands. “I have nothing,” he whispered. “Nothing left…” His body shuddered. His breathing failed. His thoughts spiraled, collapsing inward until all he could hear was the storm inside his own skull. And then— The world froze. Literally. The air stilled. The wind halted. The distant city noise cut out. Silence wrapped around him like a vacuum. Leon lifted his head. A faint light pulsed in front of him—like a small digital sphere, bright and weightless. His heart stopped. Then— DING. A mechanical voice echoed inside his mind. > SYSTEM ALERT: Emotional Collapse Threshold Exceeded. Rebirth System initializing… Loading 1%… 14%… 47%… 97%… Initialization complete. Leon stared, breath frozen in his chest. A luminous screen unfolded before him, suspended in the air. > Host Detected: Leon Hale Status: Disowned / Betrayed / Destitute Commencing System Rebirth Protocol. His palms shook. “What… what is this?” Another soft chime. > The System has recognized your despair. Beginning Reconstruction Sequence. Rise, Leon Hale. Your new life starts now. The sphere pulsed again—warm, powerful, alive. For the first time in weeks, Leon inhaled. Slow. Deep. Hope—tiny and fragile—sparked in his chest. His lowest point had become something else. A beginning. The night around him trembled as the digital light grew brighter. And Leon whispered, voice shaking: “…What are you?” The answer came gently. > I am your Rebirth. The system flared. And Leon’s new destiny awakened.Expand

REBIRTH SYSTEM: From Disowned heir to world Dominator Ch. 13 — A Night of Despair
The storm eased sometime after midnight, but the cold didn’t lift.It wrapped itself around Leon like a second skin as he dragged himself across the cracked pavement, still shaken by the strange flashes of light and sound that had echoed through his mind.Had he imagined it?Was it a hallucination from exhaustion? The rainwater dripping from his hair made it hard to think.Harder to breathe. He didn’t go back to the warehouse. He couldn’t—not yet.Instead, his feet carried him toward the old iron bridge crossing the river at the edge of the industrial district. A lonely place. Quiet. Forgotten. Like him.By the time he reached the midpoint, the storm had died completely, leaving only the hiss of wind over the dark water.Leon gripped the railing with both hands, knuckles white. The river below was black—so dark it swallowed the reflection of the city lights. The current moved slowly, like something alive, waiting. He stared down at it.For a long time… he didn’t move.---His shoulder

tThe rain came down in sheets, turning the streets into rivers of cold water that splashed against Leon’s ankles as he walked. No umbrella. No jacket. No destination.Just pain.Just emptiness.Just the weight of another humiliating day.He limped slightly—the result of a fall earlier that afternoon. Mason had “accidentally” knocked a crate off a high shelf. Leon barely dodged it, but the second crate Mason shoved after it struck Leon’s shoulder, sending him crashing onto concrete. The bruise spread down his arm like a blackened spiderweb. The supervisor only smirked.“Try not to die on shift, Hale. Paperwork annoys me.”Leon hadn’t answered. What was the point? Now, hours later, the injury burned with every step, pulsing like a reminder of how far he had fallen.Thunder cracked overhead, but the storm was nothing compared to the one raging inside him.His breath fogged the air as he crossed under a flickering streetlamp. The yellow light illuminated the soaked bandage wrapped around

The rain hadn’t stopped.By the time Leon returned to the warehouse, his uniform clung to him like a second skin, soaked through with cold and humiliation. The night shift lights buzzed overhead, casting long shadows across the empty loading bay.His steps felt heavier than they should. His chest tighter than it had ever been.He moved like a man carrying a mountain.---The storage room—his “home”—was dim and damp. A thin mattress lay in the corner, barely better than cardboard. Leon shut the door behind him and leaned his back against it, sliding down slowly until he was sitting on the floor. His body ached, but the real pain wasn’t physical. It pulsed from somewhere deeper… a place he didn’t know could hurt this much.He dropped the envelope—the final inheritance papers—onto the ground. It landed with a soft thud, like dirt hitting a coffin.Leon stared at it.“That’s it,” he breathed. “They’ve completely erased me.”His voice sounded foreign—even to himself. He had lived his whole

Leon didn’t sleep after the system awakened. How could he?That cold mechanical voice still echoed at the back of his mind, sharp as broken glass:[REBIRTH SYSTEM ACTIVATED.]His life had collapsed so brutally that something—not human—had chosen him as a “prime candidate.”And yet morning came like always, dragging him back into the world he still had to endure. The warehouse buzzed alive with forklifts, workers shouting, machinery rumbling. Leon stepped onto the floor with stiff legs and sore shoulders, head low, eyes heavy from a night without rest. He expected exhaustion. He didn’t expect to run straight into Mason Briggs. The supervisor stood near the timeclock, arms crossed, a grin already spreading across his face. Mason’s smile wasn’t friendly. It was the type that belonged to someone who loved watching things break.Especially people.“There he is,” Mason said loudly, drawing the attention of the nearby workers. “The stray dog reporting for duty.”A few workers chuckled.
