In a cultivation realm that upholds the accumulation of good karma as the only path to enlightenment and power, an anomaly named Arion emerges. Unlike his peers who pursue virtue, Arion is mysteriously endowed with a unique System that grants him power from the most unholy sources: the sins, hatred, and regrets of others. The greater the conflict, tragedy, and suffering surrounding him, the more formidable the cultivation energy he absorbs, making him an increasingly powerful anomaly in a world that condemns the very source of his strength. However, this power comes with unexpected and heartbreaking consequences. Women who are deeply connected to Arion's emotions—whether through sympathy, conflict, or fate—will inevitably be bound to his "karmic chains." This bond is not the result of ordinary seduction or romance, but rather an unbreakable spiritual tie, making them part of Arion's cultivation process. Elders and elite sects view him as a threat, an embodiment of darkness that must be eradicated. On his journey, Arion must not only fight powerful enemies but also grapple with the morality of his own power and the fate of the women bound to him. Questions about the justice and truth of the karma believed by the world begin to surface, sparking doubt about the very foundations of their faith. Arion and his System are not a curse, but a cosmic correction tool, an entity destined to rebalance the order of the universe that has long since strayed. He is the "Balancer of Fate," tasked with restoring true balance between light and darkness, sin and virtue, even if it means destroying the foundations of the world he knows.

Chapter 1

1. Ash on Holy Snow

The snow wasn’t white anymore. It was a wet, steaming crimson.

Arion dragged his shattered leg across the village square, leaving a jagged trail in the slush. His breath hitched, tasting of iron and woodsmoke. Behind him, the village of Oakhaven—his only home—was a roaring funeral pyre.

"Don't run, little trash. It makes the karma messy."

Arion stopped. He looked up, squinting through the blood matting his eyelashes. Captain Kaelen stood over him, his silver armor polished to a blinding sheen that mocked the carnage around them. The Holy Light Sect’s emblem—a sun weeping golden tears—was embroidered on his cloak.

"Karma?" Arion spat, his voice a gravelly whisper. "You slaughtered my neighbors. You burned the children."

"Correcting the balance," Kaelen said, his voice as smooth as silk. He lifted a gleaming jade sword. "This village had a debt. Too much 'dross' was accumulated. By returning your souls to the cycle, we perform an act of ultimate charity. Be grateful."

"Be... grateful?" Arion's fingers dug into the frozen mud.

"He won’t understand, Captain," a younger cultist sneered, stepping forward. "He’s a void-born. Can’t cultivate a single spark of good karma. He’s literally the garbage of the cosmos."

Kaelen sighed, a sound of fake pity. "True. To think the heavens had to tolerate such a stain for twenty years. Lean back, boy. I'll make the cut clean. I wouldn't want to tarnish my blade with too much suffering."

Arion looked past them. He saw the Elder's head resting near a discarded grain sack. He saw his neighbor, Lyann, clutching a lifeless doll.

*Is this justice?* Arion thought. *Is this the 'Holy' way?*

"Burn in hell," Arion hissed.

Kaelen raised his sword high, the white light of his cultivation energy beginning to thrum. "Hell is for the impure. I am simply sending you where you belong."

Then, a sound cut through the screaming wind. It wasn't human. It wasn't divine. It was cold, metallic, and resonated inside Arion's very marrow.

`[Notice: Cosmic Imbalance Detected.]`

Arion froze. "What?"

`[Scanning environment...]`

`[Target Area: Oakhaven.]`

`[Detected: 423 murders committed in the name of 'Heavenly Virtue'.]`

`[Quantifying Malice...]`

`[Quantity found: 1,000 units of Pure Hatred. Result: Severe Cosmic Tilt.]`

Kaelen frowned, his sword wavering. "What are you muttering, trash? Begging for mercy now?"

"Do you hear that?" Arion whispered, his eyes widening.

"Hear what? The sound of your impending death?" Kaelen laughed. The cultists joined in, their voices sharp and arrogant.

`[Correction Protocol Initializing.]`

`[Do you wish to absorb the local Disharmony? Yes/No.]`

"Yes," Arion croaked. "Whatever it is, give me the strength to kill them all."

`[Synchronization: 10%... 45%... 100%.]`

`[Beginning Absorption of 1,000 units of Pure Hatred.]`

`[Welcome, User Arion, to the Cosmic Correction System.]`

Suddenly, the red snow beneath Arion didn't just look like blood. It looked like smoke. Thick, black, viscous tendrils began to rise from the corpses, swirling around Arion’s body like a thousand starving snakes.

"What is this?" Kaelen shouted, leaping back. His armor’s holy glow flickered as if suffocated by an invisible weight. "Sons, stay back! The boy is using some forbidden demonic art!"

"Too late for 'Heavenly Virtue', Captain?" Arion asked.

His voice had changed. It was hollow, echoing as if spoken from the bottom of a grave. He stood up. His shattered leg didn't just heal; the bones snapped back into place with a sickening crunch, reinforced by black ichor.

`[Strength Enhancement: Level 1.]`

`[Agility Enhancement: Level 1.]`

`[Trait Unlocked: Devourer of Falsehood.]`

"Kill him!" Kaelen roared, his face twisting from a mask of purity into one of sheer, ugly terror. "Burn the seed of darkness!"

The younger cultist charged, his spear tipped with golden flames. "Die, monster!"

Arion didn't move. He simply reached out and caught the spearhead with his bare hand. The golden flames touched his skin and instantly turned black, dying out like a candle in a hurricane.

"Your fire is weak," Arion said. "It has no soul."

Arion pulled. The cultist flew forward, his neck meeting Arion’s waiting grip.

`[Processing Hatred: 50 units.]`

Arion squeezed. There was a wet snap. The cultist didn't even have time to scream. A wisp of grey energy escaped the body and entered Arion’s chest.

"Delicious," Arion whispered.

"Stay away from me!" the second cultist cried, swinging a heavy claymore.

Arion flickered. He wasn't running; he was *folding* through the space between the snow. He appeared behind the man, his palm pressing against the cultist's spine.

"The System says your 'virtue' is actually greed. You stole from the orphans last year, didn't you?"

"H-How did you—?"

"Your aura is grey," Arion said. "I can see your rot."

He shoved. A burst of black energy erupted from his palm, blasting through the man's chest. Ribs turned to shrapnel, puncturing lungs and heart.

`[Processing Sinful Energy: 120 units.]`

`[Status: Evolution in Progress.]`

Kaelen backed away toward his horse, his eyes darting frantically. "You're a demon! You've made a pact with the abyss!"

"The abyss didn't slaughter Oakhaven, Kaelen," Arion said, walking toward him with slow, predatory grace. "You did."

"I am a Captain of the Holy Light!" Kaelen shrieked, slashing his jade blade. A crescent of white energy tore through the air.

Arion didn't dodge. The blade struck his shoulder, biting an inch into the flesh. But instead of blood, a torrent of black smoke erupted, wrapping around the jade blade. The weapon began to crack, the green jade turning to ash.

"Impossible!" Kaelen screamed. "That's a spiritual weapon!"

"Everything is a lie in your world, isn't it?" Arion grabbed the sword blade, ignoring the sting of the edge. "Your sect, your karma, your god. It's all just a mask for murderers."

He snapped the jade blade like it was glass.

Kaelen fell to his knees. The snow around him began to melt from the sheer pressure of Arion’s presence. "Wait... please... the Aliansi... they'll pay you... if you let me go..."

"How many units of hatred for this one, System?"

`[Analyzing...]`

`[Subject: Kaelen. Total Sin Value: 2,500. Quality: Putrid.]`

`[Reward for Execution: Soul Essence Extraction.]`

"Hear that, Captain?" Arion grabbed Kaelen by the hair, forcing his head back. "The universe thinks you’re worth more dead than alive."

"Mercy!" Kaelen choked out.

"Where was the mercy for the Elder?" Arion shoved his fingers into Kaelen's eyes. "Where was the mercy for the kids in the barn?"

Kaelen's scream was high-pitched, a frantic animal noise.

`[Beginning Harvest.]`

A vortex opened beneath Kaelen’s body. Black thorns, made of solid shadow, erupted from the ground, skewering the Captain through every limb. He was suspended in the air, a grotesque marionette. The light from his cultivation wasn't just fading; it was being *drunk* by Arion.

Arion watched as Kaelen’s skin shriveled, turning to a parchment-like husk. Every sin, every lie, every drop of blood he had shed in the name of 'Heavenly Light' was converted into pure, cold power and funneled into Arion.

The screaming stopped. Kaelen's body shattered into grey flakes that blew away in the cold wind.

Arion stood alone in the center of the village. The fires were dying down, hushed by the heavy snowfall. He didn't feel cold. He felt like a furnace fueled by a thousand years of grudges.

"I’m still hungry," Arion muttered, his purple eyes scanning the horizon.

`[Notice: Local correction complete. Status: Disciple of Dissonance.]`

"Status? Is this like a game?"

`[Inaccurate comparison. This is the Rebalancing of the Cosmic Axis. You have chosen to be the scale.]`

"Whatever. What's next? More cultists to kill?"

`[Scan completed. Direction: Northwest.]`

`[Primary Mission Triggered: Locate the First Sin Vessel.]`

Arion looked at his hands. Black tattoos—tiny, jagged chains—were beginning to crawl up his wrists and disappear under his sleeves.

"Vessel? Like me?"

`[Negative. A source of Pure Emotional Residue. An anchor to stabilize your surging power. Without a vessel, your soul will burn out from the density of absorbed hatred.]`

"Tell me where," Arion said, stepping over Kaelen's discarded cloak.

`[Pathfinder Active. Warning: Heavenly Hunt initialized by the Sect Headquarters. Target: The Unbalanced One.]`

"Let them come," Arion smiled, and it was a jagged, terrible thing. "Their virtue is the best fuel I’ve ever tasted."

`[Current Energy: 4,000 units.]`

`[Evolving Skill: Shadow-Sin Step.]`

Arion vanished.

Behind him, Oakhaven was nothing but silence and ash. The 'Holy' light had brought fire, but the darkness had brought silence.

As the sun began to rise, it touched the mountain peak, but the light seemed thinner than it used to be. It was as if the world itself was holding its breath, waiting for the shadow that was now moving through the forest—a shadow with a man’s shape and a demon's eyes.

Arion didn't look back. There was nothing left to save.

There was only a world to correct.
