The forest was dead silent as Kael moved deeper into it, darkness descending over it.

Shadows twisted unnaturally around him like flies.

The stench of black incense, blood and power corrupted by greed hung in the air as he approached a territory.

The Darkhorn’s territory.

A pack known for their mastery and practice of forbidden dark magics and now they have his mate.

“A god never rejects an invitation but doesn't accept an apology.” Kael growled, lowly.

Branches snapped beneath his boots as he moved with precise predation, every step silent and every breath controlled.

Ahead, flickers of torchlight marked the edge of a clearing.

Kael slowed, his senses sharpening.

As he had expected, they had set a trap and were waiting for him. He took a step forward stepping into the light,

Within seconds, Darkhorn guards leapt from the shadows, encircling and bounding him with chains etched in glowing runes.

Kael's eyes flickered darkly but he snapped it shut, controlling his anger.

The chains struck him burning against his skin.

He snarled but didn't struggle even when heat and pain licked his veins threatening his godly form.

“Take him to the dungeon and leave him near his mate.” a deep voice barked.

Kael tilted his head towards the voice and there stood a towering man in a cloak darker than midnight, Alpha Varrick.

“Another debt added.” Kael smirked as the guards dragged him away.

They threw him into a barely lit room, suddenly the intoxicating scent hit him and he felt his wolf whining, mate.

He turned his head towards the direction of the scent and there stood Aralynn, staring at him with eyes blazing with hatred.

Kael opened his mouth to talk but Aralynn turned his back on him, uninterested in whatever he had to say.

Kael snickered, his gaze not leaving her as he struggled to shut his wolf up.

The next day passed like a blur, no one visited and Aralynn ignored him barely sparing his glance.

But when the moon began rising, the door of the dungeon was torn open as guards barged in dragging them out.

They were dragged into a clearing more like a ritual ground because the air reeked of blood, pains and cries.

In the center of the clearing was two tables, one was high and the other low.

Kael was placed on the high table and bound tightly on the table with divine chains.

While Aralynn was dumped on the lower table, the chains on her were barely tight.

Earlier in the Darkhorn's throne room, the blood seer, a hooded man, stood before Alpha Varrick, his head bowed.

“What do you have to say?” Varrick demanded.

“The ritual should be carried out quickly,”

“Chains can't hold a god for long, not even one made with dark magic.” the blood seer said.

“You mean, I can become immortal if I drain it now?” Varrick asked, his eyes glinting.

The blood seer nodded.

“But.. there is no blood moon.” Varrick pointed out.

“I can turn any moon to a blood moon,”

“But there is a price to pay.” The blood seer warned.

“Do it, repercussions can come later.” Varrick ordered, desires gleaming in his eyes..

Tension hung in the air as the blood seer turned towards Varrick.

“You will give the darkness a part of yourself,”

“And…”

“Get started already.” Varrick barked, getting impatient.

“We will have to go to the ritual ground.” The blood seer said, leaving the hall.

“Get the god to the ritual ground alongside his little mate.” Varrick instructed before following the blood seer out.

Back at the ritual ground, Kael lay sprawled on a black long table surrounded by red candles.

The blood seer entered followed by Varrick, his hands clutched tightly behind him.

The blood seer stood beside the table and spared Alpha Varrick a glance who nudged him to begin.

The air shifted as the blood seer raised his hands towards the moon.

Dark energy spiraled from his palm, cooling upward like black smoke.

The sky trembled.

Clouds split as thunder roared.

But the blood seer kept on muttering spells until the moon shuddered.

A red glow falling over the world like blood.

Varrick coughed instantly, spitting out blood.

He gasped as the black smoke circled him, coiling around him.

Before disappearing into him, as he started coughing violently, spitting black blood, his fangs elongating.

The blood seer turned towards Varrick placing a hand over his chest.

A silver symbol shone from his hands burning Varrick’s chest and the cough stopped instantly.

“This should hold it off for now.” The blood seer stated.

“Can we begin now?” Varrick asked, breathing slowly.

The blood seer nodded,

And so, the ritual began in earnest.

The blood seer connected Kael's hand with Aralynn’s, then he placed a hand on Kael's chest and another on Varrick's chest, shutting his eyes.

Kael's chest pulsed as it glowed silver light faintly.

Then the blood seer started chanting…

“Veren’tai…solun…”

“She’tar…moti…”

“Ariath…tviot…”

“Unbind and bind…”

Kael's body shook violently, the silver light growing.

His chains rattled noisily with his body.

The blood seer frowned, snapping his eyes open.

“Alpha..”

“Something is resisting inside him.” The blood seer’s voice cracked, as he turned towards Varrick.

“Wh…” Varrick’s voice paled as he turned towards Kael.

Kael's eyes snapped open, shining black

It wasn't just black.

It shone pure black like the darkness before turning metallic gold like burning suns.

Varrick instinctively stepped back, trembling.

“You should have never changed the moons.” Kael growled, his voice rumbling.
