ROSY SILK RESTAURANT & HOTEL

Three black SUVs pulled up in front of a four story building. Eleven men stepped out from the cars. Ten of them were on black suits and black aviator glasses, while the other man was in a blue Italian suit. They all walked into the building with their heads raised high.

A few minutes later. In the lobby, a crowd of people were standing in front of the young man in a blue suit, while he was seated on a soft office chair, going through a file he was holding. One chef, one sous chef, ten cooks, a dozen waiters and waitresses, two porters, two receptionists, two dozen housekeepers, about two concierge, a spa manager, an event planner, a food manager, two bellhops, two laundry staff, and a maintenance technician. Dean realized there was more than sixty employees currently standing in front of him.. a bit of a stretch, but he will go with them for now, and employ more when the time comes.

“I am Eden Wealth, and I am the new owner of this establishment.” Dean said while staring at the faces of the people in front of him, “..now, I know this may be sudden for you, but I feel the name ‘Rosy Silk' doesn't resonate with what I have in mind for this place, so in the next few days, construction workers will be here to redesign this place and change the name board as well.” Dean said while flipping through the papers in the file.

Meanwhile this statement of his managed to get a reaction from the people standing obediently in front of him. While some had a shocked expression, others nodded in approval as they felt it was only right to do so. Meanwhile the chef had a disgruntled look on his face.

“You don't like my decision?” Dean asked him.

“Hmph! I know you bought this place and all, but from the look of things now, it seems you're still a greenhorn. Do you not know that the name ‘Rosy Silk' has gained lots of popularity? It has made a foothold in this city, and even outside Alerion City, if you decide to change it to whatever flashy name you have in mind, it will need to work hard to gain popularity. So if you will listen to my advise, I will suggest you leave the name as it is.” The chef said with unbridled arrogance.

Dean simply smiled, “That's a pretty good logic. What you said made sense.” Dean said, and he could see the chef smirk with arrogance and pride oozing from him, and to this Dean poured a bucket of ice on, “But such logic doesn't apply to me. And I am curious as to know where you got the courage to challenge the words of your employer.” Dean said while drumming his fingers on the armrest.

“Hmph! I am merely trying to advise you. I have been in this business for half my life, and I am also the star of Rosy Silk Restaurant, so forgive me if my words may sound challenging, but I am merely trying to preserve my livelihood and also help you recoup your losses.” Then he stared at Dean, “I heard you spent a fortune to buy this place, possibly all your savings. So I suggest you listen to me so I can help you recoup what you've lost.” He said.

Dean furrowed his brows. The way the chef said it made him realize someone must have fed him some information, as the exact details of the auction hasn't been made public yet. And the way the chef spoke made it seem like he was actually doing Dean a favor.

Dean took a deep breath and exhaled. He couldn't deny the man's logic, but that didn't mean he could accept the man's arrogance. Besides, from the look of things, it will seem the chef won't be loyal to him and his establishment. It will best to cut this bad egg off before it spoils the rest. And moreover, he was determined to change the name to what he believes will be his rise to power. He then turned to the chef.

“Okay, it seems you won't be working with us anymore.” Dean folded his hands, “This establishment, ‘Eden Royalty Luxury’ is under the Eden Royalty Corporation, and will surpass your Rosy Silk.. with or without you.” Then staring deep into the man's eyes, “You are to leave this establishment effective immediately.” Dean said in a firm voice.

The arrogant smile on the chef's face faltered a bit. “You.. you can't be serious, you are simply trying to scare me.” He gave a nervous chuckle.

“I suggest you leave before I call the security.” Dean's firm tone showed he wasn't joking or trying to scare the middle-aged man at all.

“You can't! I am a five star chef!” The chef panicked, but Dean didn't give him a second glance, he simply took out his phone and dialed a number, and in just a few seconds, two burly men in black suit walked in.

“Escort him out of my sight.” Dean said. The chef was hurled out while he kept on shouting profanities at Dean, his pride blinded him from begging for a second chance. Meanwhile Dean was now staring at the sous chef.

“For now, you'll be the acting Head Chef. If you prove yourself worthy, then the position will be yours. If not I will find someone to replace you.” Dean said. The sous chef nodded meekly. All the staff had one thought in mind about their new boss: “Obey, or be sacked.”

“Good.” Dean nodded when he saw their subservient expression. He also touched a bit sensitive problems before dismissing the meeting. He had given all the staff a week leave.. this way the workers can redesign the building to his taste.

Leaving the building, Dean called over his head of security; Phillip, a former spec-ops soldier. Just as he was about to discuss vital security topic security topic with him, a ferarri sports car stopped with a screech in front of him. The driver's window went down a bit, and hatred flashed across Dean's eyes when he saw the driver.

“Well, well, well.. fancy seeing you here. I heard you got yourself into an accident. Shouldn't you be at home recuperating or something?” Clinton Mercedes said with a smile on his face.

  • CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY-NINE: Don't Sit Still

The call went out quietly, but the effect it carried was anything but small. The kind of silence that followed wasn’t the normal kind people got used to in a busy office. This one had weight. The kind that made even confident people feel like they were walking into something they couldn’t predict. Dean didn’t sit. He stood near the center of the room, hands relaxed at his sides, posture straight but not rigid. His face gave nothing away, but his eyes were sharp, steady, and waiting. Clarice stood slightly behind him, tablet in hand, her attention split between the incoming data and the door. Philip leaned against the wall, arms folded, watching like a man who had already decided how things might end but was still open to being proven wrong. Then the door opened. Slow. Controlled. And the person stepped in. No rush. No hesitation. Just a calm walk forward that would have looked normal to anyone who didn’t understand the tension in the room. But everyone here understood. Dean’s eyes loc

  • CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY-EIGHT: Enemy That Knows Your Name

The room didn’t breathe. It held. Every word that had just been said stayed suspended in the air like something too heavy to drop. Dean didn’t move. Not immediately. His eyes stayed on the man in front of him, not searching for fear, not looking for guilt, but measuring something more difficult—consistency. Truth wasn’t always in what people said. Sometimes it was in how little they changed when pressure tightened around them. “…Deeper than we think,” Dean repeated quietly. The man nodded once. “Yes.” Philip shifted slightly, his tone low but edged. “Or you’re just trying to make this bigger than it is.” The man didn’t look at him this time. He kept his eyes on Dean. “…If I wanted to deflect, I’d keep it simple.” A pause. “…This isn’t simple.” Clarice’s fingers hovered over her tablet, but she didn’t type. She was watching. Listening. Because right now, the smallest reaction mattered. Dean took a slow step forward. Not aggressive. Not soft either. Just enough to close the distance. “…

Chapter 147. The Hand Behind the CurtainThe calm didn’t last. It never did. Not when something was already in motion. The containment worked—at least on the surface. Conversations tightened. Doubt stopped spreading openly. The structure held. But Dean could feel it. Not with his eyes. Not with data. With instinct. The pressure hadn’t disappeared. It had shifted. That was worse. Because pressure that moved was pressure that adapted. Dean stood by the glass wall overlooking the main floor, his hands in his pockets, his expression unreadable. Below, everything looked normal again. People moving. Teams working. Orders flowing. But normal didn’t mean stable. “…You’re waiting,” Clarice said as she stepped beside him. Dean didn’t look at her. “Yes.” “…For what?” He paused. Just for a second. “…For them to get impatient.” Clarice frowned slightly. “You think they will?” Dean nodded once. “They have to.” A pause. “…What they’re doing now only works if we stay uncertain.” Philip joined them, h

  • CHAPTER 146. Going After Our People

The word stayed in the air long after Dean said it. Trust. Not numbers. Not assets. Not contracts. Something softer. Something harder to measure. And because of that, something far easier to break if you knew where to press. Clarice didn’t respond immediately. She just looked at him, her grip on the tablet tightening slightly. Philip’s expression darkened, his instincts already moving ahead of the explanation. “…You think they’ll go after our people?” he asked. Dean shook his head once. “Not directly.” A pause. “…That would be too obvious.” Clarice’s voice came slower. “…Then how?” Dean’s eyes sharpened slightly. “They don’t need to remove trust,” he said. “They just need to question it.” Silence followed. Because that… was worse. Doubt didn’t break things immediately. It spread. Quiet. Invisible. And by the time you noticed it, it was already everywhere. Philip let out a low breath. “So they plant something.” Dean nodded. “Exactly.” Clarice frowned. “Rumors?” “More than that,” Dean r

  • CHAPTER 145. From Who?

The shift happened faster than anyone expected. One moment, Eden Royalty Headquarters was tense but organized—controlled pressure, calculated movement—and the next, it felt like the ground beneath everything had started to slide. Not collapse. Not yet. But move. And in business, movement like that was often more dangerous than an outright fall. Dean stood at the center of it, watching the ripple effect of his decision take shape in real time. The Westline acquisition had become the focal point, just as he intended. Every department pivoted. Every resource leaned in that direction. But the moment that happened, the response came. Immediate. Sharp. Almost like whoever was watching had been waiting for that exact move. Clarice’s voice cut through the room again, tighter now, more urgent. “They’ve increased pressure on the supply chain again—this time it’s not delays, it’s cancellations.” Dean didn’t react outwardly, but his eyes shifted slightly. “From who?” “Different vendors,” she repl

  • CHAPTER 144. You Don't Need One

The silence that followed didn’t feel like a pause. It felt like a warning. Dean stood still in that endless space, his mind sharper now than it had ever been, but also heavier. Each step forward had stripped something away—certainty, instinctive confidence, the ease of quick decisions—and replaced it with something harder to carry. Awareness. He exhaled slowly, rolling his shoulders once as if to settle the weight. “…You’re not going to give me a break, are you?” he muttered. Jonathan’s voice came, steady as always. “…You don’t need one.” Dean gave a faint, dry chuckle. “That’s one way to say it.” A pause. Then—“…This one matters more.” That made Dean’s expression shift slightly. Not fear. Not hesitation. Just… attention. “They all mattered.” “…Not like this.” The space changed again. But this time, it didn’t build slowly. It snapped into place. Hard. Immediate. Real. Dean blinked once—and he was no longer alone. The noise hit first. Phones ringing. Voices overlapping. The low hum of
