CHAPTER 1

Host name: Yuchen.]

[Class: Merchant Level 1]

[Unique Skill: Master of Bargaining. Merchant Gaze.]

“What is this? How am I going to fight monsters with a skill like this? I need to be strong to defeat the demon king.” Yuchen groaned out.

He had just woken up from a terrible dream.

Had he been transmigrated?

“The demon king? Son, what are you talking about?” A woman's voice made Yuchen look up.

There was a worried look on her face and Yuchen went blank.

This wasn't just a normal transmigration.

Then he looked down at his body, he was in another person's body.

The body of a NPC character in the game.

“Did you hit your head so hard that you are imagining things now?” Another man said, lifting him up from the floor.

At that voice, a rush of memories filled Yuchen's head.

“Oh my goodness, there's so much blood.” The woman's eyes widened in true terror, but Yuchen was dazed.

This was the first time someone had actually cared about him.

He kept quiet while his new parents rushed around and wrapped a bandage around his head.

“How are you still alive?” A tiny voice got his attention, causing him to turn.

It was from a little girl.

“Yuling, I'm okay. You don't have to be worried…” Yuchen said, and gave her a smile.

From his memories, this was his sister.

However the girl just looked at him in confusion. Even the parents were shocked.

Seeing this reaction, Yuchen instantly remembered that this son of theirs was quite a trouble maker.

‘No wonder they are surprised…’ He thought.

“Are you feeling okay now?” The mother asked him.

“Yes, thank you mum! Although I have a bit of a headache, I'll be fine after a rest.” Yuchen said, and tried to stand up but he felt dizzy.

“No, sit down! I'd bring your food to you, Yuchen!” The mother quickly said.

Yuchen swallowed. This guy had such nice parents yet he was so rude to them.

In his original life, he had struggled to find a footing in the world, especially when no one cared about him.

But this new feeling was different.

Bang! Bang!

The front door came down, and everyone's expression turned grim.

“We are here under the order of the High Lord! Pay up your taxes! And for the damages that your son, Yuchen did in the town square. I wonder how you raised such a pig.”

A group of men walked through the door, and in front of them was a man whose armour was decorated with silver, and a dragon crest was imprinted on the chest plate.

The father stepped up, “You don't have to insult my son, and we'd pay your money!”

“Your good for nothing son is better off dead! As a matter of fact, we demand a thousand bronze right now. Or we are killing him!”

Yuchen frowned, after going through the memories of the original owner, he realized that what was done didn't deserve death.

He looked up, hoping the father would refute.

The middle aged man clenched his fist, “It was five hundred bronze coins yesterday, why a thousand now?”

The leader sneered, “My personal interest.”

Yuchen was livid. He realised that this new world was nothing like the game world.

He had to see the disgusting nature of humans once again.

“If you intend to refuse, we'd raze this house to the ground!” The leader's smile widened as he unsheathed his sword.

Yuling ran to hide behind her mother.

“We are sorry,” His father conceded, “We paid our last savings yesterday, but we'd try to come up with something–”

“You are wasting my time.” The leader raised his sword and it was instantly coated with fire.

Yuchen checked his pockets. Back when he played the game, anything he restarted, there was always a few coins with him.

“Please, don't do anything. I have a silver coin.” Yuchen rose to his feet and held out the coin.

The leader's eyes narrowed and he beckoned to one of his men.

The silver coin was taken from Yuchen.

“It’s original and covers your tax payment,” The leader sneered, “But we'd be back in three days to collect the damage f*e, along with the total of my daily personal interest.” He laughed, accompanied by his soldiers, and they left.

Yuchen could only clench his fists, and he walked to the front door to fix it back into its place.

This wasn't what he had imagined about his transmigration.

He had a family that was being threatened by the system that was meant to protect them.

And yet, stopping the demon king invasion was also a priority.

Morning came quickly and Yuchen walked out of the house, before any one else had woken up.

Last night, he had looked further into his pockets and found three more silver coins, and a decision was made.

“I need to find a way to increase my strength. Increase it enough to protect these people.” Yuchen thought.

In his first world, he has survived life as an orphan, but here, he had felt the love of having a family.

He was going to cherish every moment of it.

“Good day Sir, we have so many items you'd need.”

Someone's voice broke into his reverie, as he passed by the adventurer's market.

“Sir, would you like to purchase this sword? It was made from the finest two of the saber-toothed wolf. It also comes with a free pouch.” One of the sellers in the open market called.

Yuchen looked up with a frown, his face scaring the other person.

“Aren’t you that devil's child, Yuchen? You don't have to buy it if you don't want to, please leave my stall!”

The seller quickly said but Yuchen didn't budge.

The owner of this body had a bad reputation but this wouldn't stop him from achieving what he wanted.

“I’m buying that sword, but you are selling it for an absolutely ridiculous price. What are two gold coins? If I had two gold coins, do you think I'd want to buy this trash?” Yuchen raised his voice, slamming his hand on the table.

[Master of Bargaining activated.]

“A single gold coin would feed my ancestors for a year and you are selling it for a mere sword?”

The sword seller was already red in the face. It was true that it was overpriced but that was how he could get his profit.

“But. The process of making this took a lot of time.” The man said, with a tired tone.

Why had he even gone to call out to this trouble maker?

“A lot of time?” Yuchen looked like he was deep in thought, and then he leaned closely, “Okay, in all honesty, how much did you buy it.”

“But…”

“If you can't tell me, I'd know you were lying.”

The seller sighed, “I got it for two silver coins.”

“Exactly, the only reason you got it for two silver coins was because you lacked the ability to bargain.” Yuchen said with boldness.

It didn't matter if you were saying absolute nonsense, the only thing that mattered was your confidence and how loud your voice was.

“Isn't this bullshit?” The seller was appalled.
