The mage class??

It was like a dream come true.

Even while playing the game, Yuchen had only been able to get the mage role once.

This was enough to show how rare it was.

“Nice one kid.” Tyron chuckled and patted him on the back.

“This was even more than what we expected.” He laughed.

Yuchen was confused. Had the Ashen core even done more than expected.

“A mage class?” Yuchen was confused.

“Yeah! Congratulations.” Even Jade was visibly surprised.

In her five years of working here, she had only given mage class cards to five people, and this new boy was the fifth.

She couldn't tell if this was just extreme luck or mere talent, as the concentration of colours was something she had never seen

The mages she had assigned cards to, they all had one colour shown.

But this young man had two.

“This is better than we thought.” Tyron chuckled to himself.

Jade smiled back, “I'd prepare your card soon. Is there anything else you'd like me to do?”

“Jade, we'd need the list of the active dungeons around town.” Tyron said.

“Oh, that'd be quite hard to get. I'm not sure if I can give you an outright list.” She said before looking into her desk.

“Just the location of one, would be appreciated.” Yuchen quickly said.

All he could think about was the money he would have to spend.

Buying ability books for the mage class was very expensive, if not bloody.

It scared him and at the same time, it made him excited.

If he could get the mage class, with the merchant class, it would be a lot easier to defeat the demon king.

Yuchen nodded, “I'd take it. I just need the money so I can afford the ability books.”

Jade looked at him and smiled, “I can tell you are quite hardworking. Although most of the dungeons in this place have been thoroughly excavated, I'm sure you can get something if you look deep enough.”

She said and then handed a sheet of paper to Tyron.

“Here, that's the list of dungeons that are currently available. The ones with a red dash are off limits to level 1-5 classes. Those ones have dungeon bosses which are very strong.”

Jade explained and the men nodded in response.

Yuchen was especially interested.

After getting the mage class, there was no system prompt to tell him of a new skill.

Which meant, the game only acknowledged his merchant class.

So he had to figure out how to work the other classes on his own.

“Thank you very much for your help, Miss Jade. I'd be back again.” Yuchen said and collected the list of dungeons.

“I didn't think you'd actually get the mage class. You continue to surprise me.” Tyron laughed, slapping his back as soon as they walked out of the building.

“I'm surprised also.” Yuchen said in response.

Of all things, he had gotten this class with ease.

And he also had the alchemy class.

But despite all this, he still felt akin to the merchant class.

“Thank you for all your help, Tyron, but I'd have to visit all these dungeons on my own.” Yuchen said.

There was no time to rest.

The demon king wouldn't come now but it was still possible for his army to rise again and who knew where they might attack next.

Yuchen sighed. Aside from the demon king, he had to defeat the commanders of the demon king's massive army.

He really needed to get stronger.

“Understandable, you can find me again at that restaurant. I'd always be there by six in the evening.”

“Thank you!” Yuchen said and then he walked away.

It was evening, and right now he couldn't go anywhere.

The only place he headed to was back home.

“Yuchen! I thought you were leaving us forever.” His mother hugged him immediately when she met him at the door.

“I can't afford a room at the inn, Mom. I decided to save money by coming back.” Yuchen said, and his face turned red from embarrassment.

Even Taion, who was watching from the corner, laughed at the guy.

Why were you being so dramatic if you knew you were going to come back?

Nonetheless, Yuchen was glad that they were happy to have him home.

There was nothing like family and in this life, he was truly going to enjoy that luxury.

The morning came quickly and Yuchen rushed out, right after eating.

Thanks to the bag of silver he had given to them.

His mother had prepared a better breakfast for the family.

“You got a new ability, Dad?” Yuchen asked his father last night.

He could already sense the strength of the man.

“Yes. When I woke up yesterday, I felt much stronger and lighter and I decided to buy and test out an ability. I didn't think it would work but it did. Now I can find a good job and take care of my family. It's all thanks to you, Yuchen!”

His father was a bit talkative last night but Yuchen could feel the joy radiating from him.

Now that his father had an ability, it would be a lot easier to get a job in this place, and easier to take care of the family, now that Yuchen was no longer around.

Yuchen opened the map of dungeons and the first place he went to was a dungeon close to the town.

Anyone who saw this would think it was a stupid choice.

But Yuchen smiled.

“They'd have missed a lot of valuable things, but now that I have my merchant Gaze, it's easier to know the value of things.”

Yuchen smiled to himself when he arrived at the dungeon.

From the outside it looked like a large cave.

There was a sign just above it, “F-rank. Stone burrow Dungeon.”

It even had a dull entrance.

“Well this is it. Time to get to work.” Yuchen said to himself.

At that time, a couple of men passed through the area.

“Hey kid, are you lost? You know that dungeon is practically useless right?”

One of them said,

“Yeah, even goblins wouldn't bother to live there. There's nothing of use inside that thing.”

“Yeah the last group that went in, spent a whole week and barely got out anything.”

They said to each other, wondering why someone would want to enter after all the news that had been passed across.

Yuchen ignored them completely.

In fact, if it was ten minutes ago, he would have listened to them.

Because at that time, he had not seen the name of the dungeon.

But that name jolted a memory.

While playing the game in his past life. A player had stumbled into this same dungeon, and had tried to mine into the walls out of curiosity.

A treasure was found.

It was Spirit Iron ore.

Yuchen had cursed himself extremely that day, because he had skipped the dungeon in particular after it looked boring.

He wasn't about to make the same mistake again.

Not only could the Spirit Iron ore strengthen weapons, it was also a catalyst for enchanting certain weapons.

That player was able to make far more than a fortune because they had introduced the discovery of enchanted weapons into the game.

Yuchen wasn't going to miss out on this gold mine.

He could already imagine it.

Sitting on a throne, surrounded by golden treasures, with different beautiful women kissing every part of his body.

But first, he had to conquer the wealth in this dungeon.

THE NEXT MORNING.Around him, his three best men looked terrible. Brant’s right wrist was tightly wrapped in thick linen bandages, forcing him to hold his hunting knife awkwardly in his left hand. Cull’s nose was swollen to twice its normal size, his face completely bruised and dark purple. Torin rubbed his jaw constantly, his eyes bloodshot from being knocked unconscious the night before. They were tired, sore, and cold. But Vane did not show them a single ounce of pity."Again!" Vane roared, slamming his wooden sword against his heavy iron shield. "You are moving like old women! The merchant will not wait for you to catch your breath!"Torin cursed under his breath. He lunged forward, swinging two wooden practice swords in a rapid cross-strike. Vane did not block. He stepped aggressively inside Torin’s guard, shoving his heavy shield directly into Torin’s face. Torin stumbled backward, his boots slipping on the frozen mud."You are leading with your shoulders, Torin," Vane barked, p

Captain Thorne walked slowly through the heavy, freezing rain. The thick mud of the lower district pulled at his heavy iron boots with every step. He hated this part of Vanguard City. The air smelled of wet dogs, cheap ale, and rusted iron. The streets were narrow, dark, and filled with people who would cut a man's throat for a single copper coin. But Thorne did not care about the danger right now. He was much more afraid of the High Lord Kaelen than any street thief. Kaelen had given him a direct order: kill the merchant Yuchen, or do not come back.Thorne kept his right hand resting firmly on the hilt of his broadsword as he pushed open the heavy wooden door of a dark tavern called The Broken Anvil. The inside of the tavern was hot and filled with thick gray smoke from a dying fire. A few rough-looking men sat at the corner tables, drinking dark beer in silence. Thorne ignored them. He walked straight toward the back of the room. He was looking for one specific man. He was lookin

Yuchen did not even look up from his ledger. He simply shifted his left boot and pressed a hidden iron pedal under his desk.A loud mechanical hiss filled the room. A hidden copper pipe burst open from the floorboards directly beneath the assassin’s feet. A massive jet of superheated, high-pressure white steam shot upward, hitting the leader right in the face. The assassin screamed in pure agony. The boiling steam melted his black cloth mask and burned his skin instantly. He dropped his poisoned dagger, falling backward onto the wooden floor as he clutched his face.Yuchen calmly closed his ledger. He placed his golden pen perfectly parallel to the book. Then, he looked up through his dark sunglasses."Your infiltration method is terribly inefficient," Yuchen said. His voice was completely cold and flat. "You did not account for basic thermal defense systems."The remaining four assassins froze for a split second, staring at their screaming leader. Then, their professional training ki

The golden shockwave from Yuchen’s warehouse did not just travel across the surface of the world. It drove straight down. The pure, highly concentrated energy pierced through the thick granite foundation of Vanguard City, cutting through miles of solid dirt, underground rivers, and ancient bedrock. It bypassed the natural magical barriers of the earth like a hot knife slicing through fat.Deep underground, far below the reach of any human miner, the Abyssal Rifts lay in absolute, freezing darkness. This was the true domain of the void. For centuries, the underground caverns had been dead and silent. The air was thick with the smell of old iron and dried blood. Then, the golden light hit.The shockwave slammed into the floor of the deepest trench. The heavy black stone cracked open with a deafening roar. A bright, burning gold light flooded the pitch-black cavern, searing the dark walls.Deep inside a massive tomb made of jagged obsidian, a giant pair of eyes violently snapped open.

The heavy iron door of Yuchen’s private inner warehouse vault swung shut with a deep, metallic click. The air inside the small, stone-lined room was cool and smelled of dry paper, refined iron, and old copper oil. Yuchen stood in front of a long, clean marble workbench, his dark silk suit perfectly straight. He slowly pulled off his leather gloves, placing them neatly on the edge of the table before adjusting his dark sunglasses. His golden eyes were fixed entirely on a heavy, iron-bound lockbox resting in the center of the workspace– the primary dungeon treasure chest salvaged from the core of the Vanguard Ruins during their first major logging camp expedition. He reached into his vest pocket, pulling out a small brass key. He turned the mechanism smoothly, and the heavy iron lid popped open with a sharp snap.Inside the chest, resting on a bed of faded red velvet, was a single sheet of ancient parchment. The material was thick, dark, and covered in faint, glowing gold lines that shi

Deep inside the lowest chamber of the Blackwood Silver Mine, the roaring fire of the massive fifty-foot Hell Gate suddenly stabilized. The wild, leaping red flames settled into a dense, spinning wall of pure black and crimson light. The jagged obsidian stones forming the frame of the portal glowed with an intense, burning heat that made the granite walls of the cavern bubble like water. The thick purple smoke inside the room was violently sucked into the center of the rift, leaving the air completely clear, dry, and freezing cold.THUD. THUD. THUD.Heavy, synchronized, earth-shaking footsteps began to echo out from the dark void beyond the burning portal. The sound was deep, mechanical, and carried a rhythmic weight that shook the loose stones down the vertical mine shafts. The first wave of the Demon King’s elite army marched out of the portal fire in perfect, flawless military formation. These were Demon Vanguard Knights—massive, eight-foot-tall soldiers encased from head to toe in
