Chapter 9.

Emma slammed the front door behind her so hard that the entire house seemed to shake.

Ryan followed her inside, his face still twisted with anger. Neither of them said a word until they reached the living room, where their mother, Mrs. Victoria Carter, was sitting on the sofa.

The moment Victoria saw her daughter's expression, she could clearly see something wrong, she immediately stood up. “What happened? Why are you and your brother angry”

Emma dropped onto the sofa and covered her face with both hands. “Mom, Jasper has completely lost his mind.”

Victoria's eyes widened. “What did that useless man do again?”

“He broke up with me.”

For a moment, Victoria simply stared at her.

Then her expression changed. “He what?”

“He broke up with me!” Emma snapped. And then told her everything that happened in the restaurant. And how he even disagreed to pay Ryan's $200,000 debt.

Ryan dropped into a nearby chair. “He even slapped her.”

Victoria's jaw dropped. “That useless, trash, good for nothing, crazy man did that!”.

Emma shrieked, “He is completely out of it, he didn't act as he normally did…”. She even shed tears.

Victoria hurried over to console.

“That lowlife! That useless piece of trash! I always knew he wasn't worthy of you. He's poor, he's useless, and he has absolutely nothing to offer our family.”

“And he actually thinks he's important enough to reject my daughter? What does he even do to you as your man, just some little money he is giving, he thought he had it all, well, this is a perfect time. I have always been looking forward to the day you would finally break up with him!.”

Emma gazed up at her mom, unlike her that is in pain, her mom was so happy. “Finally, don't you think this is the perfect time to actually go for Harrington!”.

Emma's expression immediately changed. “Harrington?” she repeated, her voice filled with hesitation. “Mom, you know I don't like him like that.”

Victoria's smile disappeared.

Emma continued, “Harrington isn't my type. He's not as good-looking as Jasper, and he's not as well-built either. And I have always suspected he's a playboy. That's why I never completely broke things off with Jasper to be with him.”

Victoria stared at her daughter in disbelief.“You are still comparing that useless Jasper to Harrington?. Then you really are being foolish!. Do you honestly think looks are going to put food on your table?”.

“You are sitting here crying over that lowlife as though you've lost some great treasure. What exactly did Jasper have?”

She scoffed. “Nothing! Absolutely nothing! He isn't from some prestigious family. He doesn't have powerful connections. He isn't some wealthy heir. He's just a nobody who happened to make a little money and started thinking he was important. Harrington has it all”

Victoria's voice became increasingly bitter.

“And look at how he repaid you! After all these years, he had the nerve to humiliate you in a restaurant and slap you across the face. That ungrateful bastard!. And you are talking about inferior or not handsome. Is that what will pay your bill”

“Mom….”

“Look, you are young, so you don't know anything, like it isn't about all those things. It is about money. Now, who will pay your brother's $200,000 Bill?. Handsomeness?. You better wake up, and call Harrington right now. And ask him for money, you will see how he would give you without hesitation”.

She wanted to talk, but her mom hushed her up again.

“This is not up for argument. Your brother’s future is on you. Same as the family’s. Would you like us to be disgraced because of your mother?”

Emily finally agreed. She had no choice. She called Harrington and asked to meet. They met at a bar. Emily told him everything about the debt and asked him for the money.

The moment the words left her mouth, Harrington smirked.

“That’s nothing. It’s so little. I’ll give it to you. Two hundred thousand is nothing.”

“Really!”, She was so excited.

“But…”

Harrington's hand was already moving. It slid over her thigh, pushed under the hem of her dress, and kept going until his fingers pressed against her entrance, through her panties.

Emily’s eyes widened. She reached down to stop him.

Harrington didn’t move his hand. He leaned in.“This life is give and take. Understand the value of what I’m giving you. This shouldn’t be hard. You already have feelings for me, right?”

Emily wanted the money so bad. She forced herself to stay still, put on a stiff smile, and nodded. "I understand. Yeah. I’ll give you what you want.”

Harrington had been waiting for this day. He ordered a room immediately. They went upstairs and he fucked her all night.

The next morning Emily woke up with her thighs and between them was throbbing so badly she couldn’t stand straight for hours. She had taken Harrington’s aggressive desire all night. He went over six rounds.

If Jasper hadn’t suddenly changed yesterday, she would have gotten the money without even a kiss.

Now she sat with an ice pack between her legs, the ache sharp and constant. She felt insulted, embarrassed, and used—that she had to sleep with him just to get the money.

The only thing keeping her going was that she was finally with a truly wealthy man. That worthless trash Jasper wouldn’t even give her two thousand dollars. She would rather sell herself and live in luxury than stay with him.

When she saw Jasper again, she would humiliate him mercilessly.

That evening, Emily walked into WaterFall restaurant beside Harrington, dressed in an elegant evening gown he had bought for her. The moment they entered, a waiter hurried forward with a welcoming smile and led them to a reserved table. Emily looked around in amazement.

She had heard about this restaurant countless times. The crystal chandeliers, expensive decorations, and impeccable service made it obvious that ordinary people could never afford to dine here casually.

Emily's heart fluttered. This was the kind of life she had always wanted. Before, she could never afford this kind of place.

Then, as they walked farther into the restaurant, she suddenly stopped. Her eyes locked onto a familiar figure sitting at a table near the window.

Her smile disappeared. “Jasper?”

She stared at the man and couldn't believe her eyes. Jasper was sitting comfortably at the table, dressed far better than she had ever seen him before.

“Is that really him”.

She walked closer to check very well, and it was indeed him, but she found what was more shocking. Sitting beside him was a stunning woman.

She was elegant, confident, and breathtakingly beautiful. Even from across the restaurant, Emily could tell that she wasn't an ordinary woman. She was so damn pretty.

She angrily approached him.

“Jasper!”

Jasper looked up. The moment he saw Emily, his expression remained completely calm.

“It’s really you!. How can you afford a place like this?!” Then she turned to the strange woman, “And who is this?”.
