"Welcome, Young Miss," Riley bowed the moment the figure walked into the room.
"Brother, are you okay?" The figure hurried towards Kael, nodding slightly to acknowledge Riley's greetings. Kael stared at the figure, his brows narrowing into a thin line. This was the original owner's younger sister, Lina. She was about seventeen or eighteen and one of the only few people who treated Kael well. She would make sure to give Kael any precious herbs she found just so he could break through his Realm. But, unfortunately, he wasn't that lucky. "I'm fine, Lina," Kael answered after a while, feeling a strange warmth in his chest. He never had family in his past life. As for the caring, he did all of it. Having someone genuinely care for him now felt somehow, and he didn't know how to react to it. "Brother, I heard Nora came to break off the engagement," Lina spoke slowly, sitting beside Kael while holding his hands. "Yeah, she did, alongside her master and father," Kael confirmed, a glint flashing in his eyes. Five years from now, he would make sure she saw clearly that he, Kael, was not someone she could toss aside. "Brother, you're not devastated by it, are you?" Lina asked, looking at Kael who seemed to be lost in his thoughts. "Don't worry, I'm fine," Kael forced a smile. "As for the five-year agreement, when that time comes, I'll simply fight on your behalf. I won't allow anyone to bully you," Lina continued; one could feel a trace of venom within her. Her eyes seemed to burn with hatred. "That shameless girl..." She continued, clenching her fist, squeezing Kael's hands in the process. "Back then she would cling on to you, calling you big brother, following you around, and now she suddenly turns around and wants to break off the engagement," Lina muttered, a murderous aura seeping out of her body as she said this. "I'll make sure to teach her a lesson once we meet in the future," Lina gritted her teeth, clenching her fist even tighter. "Younger sister, you're hurting me..." Kael winced in pain, unable to hold it anymore. His younger sister was just too strong; there was nothing he could do about it. A late-stage Body Tempering Realm. In his current state, she could swat him away like a fly. Besides, with her talent, it wouldn't be long before she reached a considerable Realm. Though she couldn't be compared to the genius he had selected and taken care of in his past life, she was still extremely talented. Also, there was quite a distance between her and Nora. In terms of talent, she surpassed Lina. And that advantage would show over time. "Sorry, brother, I didn't mean to hurt you," Lina quickly released Kael's hands, which were almost broken now. "It's fine," Kael smiled bitterly, blaming this weak body. If the body hadn't been this weak, this wouldn't have happened. "Sister, do you have some money?" Kael suddenly asked, swallowing the invisible lump in his throat, feeling a strange sensation wash over him. He wasn't the type to ask others for help, but at this point, he had no other choice but to. "Yes...." Lina answered slowly, wondering what her brother needed money for. "Can you lend me some? I promise to repay you twofold," Kael said quickly, the shame he felt still hadn't washed away. "Sure," Lina agreed without hesitation and pulled out a pouch from within her robes, giving it to Kael. "But..." "Don't worry, brother, in this lifetime, I will take good care of you and won't allow you to suffer any injustice," Lina cut Kael off, shaking her head. "Won't you ask what I need it for?" Kael finally managed to ask... "I don't need to know, I trust you, brother," Lina grinned and turned around to leave. After all, she still needed to train harder to help support her brother. "Take care, brother," Lina's voice trailed off as she walked out of the room. Kael stared at the pouch filled with gold coins and couldn't help but sigh. One gold coin was equal to a hundred silver coins. And a silver coin is equal to a hundred copper coins. And yet, there were over a thousand gold coins in this pouch. Kael didn't even know how to feel. No one had ever treated him this kindly, and thus the feeling was a bit strange to him, and he had no idea how to feel. "Riley, take this and go purchase the items, but buy double this time," Kael ordered, flicking the pouch at the maid, who caught it almost immediately. "Yes, sir," Riley nodded and gave a low bow, then turned around and walked out of the room. For some reason, she could tell that ever since the young master woke up, he was different. She couldn't tell what exactly was different about him, but she knew he wasn't the same as before. Maybe it was a good thing, maybe it wasn't. She wasn't even sure about that. Kael, on the other hand, sat on the bed, lost in his thoughts. Lina's gesture just now had broken something within. No matter how much he tried to suppress the feeling, he just couldn't do it. "Fine, we'll just let it flow," Kael muttered and stood up. While waiting for Riley, he might as well do some other things. An hour later, Riley came back with the herbs packed neatly. Placing them on the wooden table, she spoke, "Young master, do you need anything else?" "Help me prepare a large bathtub with boiling water," Kael thought for a moment and replied. Without any further ado, Riley set to work and, in less than five minutes, there was a large tub with boiling water sitting in the room. "Thank you," Kael thanked her, standing up from the bed. "You can leave. I'll call you when I need anything," Kael added, waving his hands as he walked towards the herbs on the table. Riley beamed, then left the room as Kael picked one of the herbs. Staring at the herbs, Kael shook his head; these herbs were of the lowest level. Even the same herbs of this level that he grew in his garden were all more potent than this. Well, he had no other choice. Shaking his head, he pushed the thoughts away and began to throw the herbs into the water. Soon enough, the water color changed and a medicinal scent filled the air. Undressing, Kael got into the tub without any hesitation. But the moment his skin touched the water, he almost regretted his decision, as it burnt right through his skin and pores. The medicinal effect of the herbs quickly soaked into his body. Gritting his teeth, Kael endured the pain, allowing the medicinal property of the herbs to be fully absorbed by his body. This body had a lot of impurities. If he didn't purge them now, it would be even harder to purge in the future. In a flash, thirty minutes passed. Now the color of the water had turned dark. As for the herbs, Kael had absorbed them all. "This should do," Kael muttered, standing up from the tub and wiping his body while donning his robes. Sitting cross-legged, he began the second step: connect his meridians and then begin his soul cultivation. With the body in perfect shape, it should be able to handle the soul well. Kael closed his eyes, and using the faint strand of Qi remaining in his body, he began to mend the meridians. Slowly but surely, they began to come together. Just as he was on it, Kael suddenly stopped, and the next moment, he bent over and vomited blood. Poison!Latest Chapter
A Tempting Bet
"Finally making a move, huh?" Shawn's mouth curled up into a smirk; the faint hint of disgust hidden within couldn't be missed. "But you're nowhere worthy enough to stop me," he scoffed and pulled his wrist, trying to break free of Kael's grip. But the next second, he froze, his face darkening as he tugged harder. No matter how much he tried, he couldn't break free; it was as though an iron bar was clamped onto his hands. Not only that, he felt slightly numb, as if something was suppressing the force within his arms, unable to break free of Kael's grip. Instantly, Shawn glanced at Kael, his face crumpled up like a piece of rough paper, and he pulled harder, exerting even more force. "Stop struggling; it's futile," Kael spoke, his voice as calm as the sea. "If..." "Impossible!" Shawn roared and instantly exerted more strength, his Qi rushing up to his arms. "Seems like I'll have to teach you a lesson," Kael muttered, a glint flashing in his eyes as he increased his grip on Sha
Ron In Trouble
"All right, you can step out. I'll call you when I need anything," Kael acknowledged, standing up slowly from the bed. After getting all the necessary herbs, they returned to the clan. He then had Riley fill his bathtub with warm water. It was time to start the body cultivation. With the herbs at hand, he was sure it would push his cultivation into the first realm, thereby allowing him to start the cultivation of his soul.Riley, on the other hand, bowed and exited the room."Also, don't disturb me unless it's important," Kael's voice sounded as Riley exited the room.Staring at the herbs on the table, Kael picked them up and started throwing them into the bathtub. Soon enough, the room was filled with a medicinal scent. After a while, Kael took out the dregs and undressed, preparing to soak in the water.Just before he removed the last layer of his clothes, the door to his room suddenly burst open, and Riley came running in, panting."Didn't I say you couldn't disturb me unless it wa
The Shopkeeper
The shopkeeper narrowed his eyes slightly, staring at Kael for a few seconds as if trying to see through him. Then he chuckled.“Young master Kael, you’re quite confident, huh?” he said slowly, still trying to observe Kael as if he wanted to pull out the secrets he was hiding.“But I like that,” he grinned.Without hesitation, he rolled up his sleeve, revealing a slightly tanned arm.“Let’s see what trick you’ve brought today,” he murmured, just loud enough for Kael to hear.Kael didn’t respond, leaning back in his chair and watching as the shopkeeper made his move. He had full confidence in what he had brought, hence his relaxed state. The shopkeeper picked up one of the jars again. This time, he was more careful. He tilted the jar slightly and poured a portion of the liquid onto his arm. The moment the liquid touched his skin, his expression changed. At first, there was nothing; then suddenly, a faint sizzling sound filled the place as the shopkeeper's skin greedily absorbed the liq
Poisoned
Kael’s body trembled slightly as he wiped the blood from the corner of his lips. His eyes darkened instantly.“Poison…”His voice was low, almost a whisper, but the killing intent hidden within it was chilling. He closed his eyes immediately, diving inward, inspecting his body carefully. With his current state, he couldn’t afford to miss even the slightest detail. After a while, Kael's eyes flashed open; the glint in them was even more terrifying this time.Deep within his meridians, hidden so well that even experienced cultivators might miss it, was a thin layer of dark residue. It clung to his meridians like parasites, slow, silent, and deadly. It didn’t destroy the body outright; instead, it suppressed it, blocking growth and corroding his potential, making breakthroughs nearly impossible.Even if the person were to cultivate for a hundred years, they might never break through a major Realm.Kael’s lips slowly curled into a cold smile as he muttered,“No wonder...."No matter how m

Money Problems
Kael sighed, collapsing on his bed the instant he got back to his room. Now, there was an endless stream of problems. He had planned to just find a way to cultivate quietly until he was strong enough again. But that didn't seem to be happening any time soon. He had been challenged to a duel in five years. And for cultivators, five years was nothing. Apart from that, he had the issue of his cracked soul consciousness that he had to deal with.It was only after dealing with that would he be able to cultivate. This was truly a sticky situation.Thinking about it, Kael sighed and sat cross-legged on the bed. Since he was already in it, he might as well actively look for a solution.Closing his eyes, he began to search his memories for a solution. He had experience with all kinds of things and even once dealt with souls in the past. But it was very limited compared to other fields. So, he had to think well if he wanted to find a solution.Time was ticking, and the five-year timeline was li
