Chapter six.

It was some minutes past six when Rapheal arrived at the restaurant.

He was having dinner with Riley and her friends.

It was a normal occurrence as the girls like to get together every once in a while to show off and piss each other off.

He just didn't know why.

Forget it. Atleast they will be food there. He thought delightfully.

The doorman saw he getting off from the taxi and his eyes scanned Rapheal from head to toe with contempt.

Rapheal saw this.

"What do you want? Go away, this place isn't for people like you. You won't be able to pay for a single meal even you work hard for a whole year. Go find some street stall or something to eat at."

Those who can afford coming to this restaurants must be rich. They all drive luxurious cars and you can perceive the distinct scent of wealth from afar.

The doorman saw that he took a taxi and naturally looked down on him.

They were people going in and out, and they all barely glanced at the two before looking away. Feeling that it wasn't worth their attention.

"It seems that this work isn't quite suitable for you." Rapheal spoke calmly, almost as if telling a joke. The doorman met his gaze and frooze. Cold and indifferent. It gave him chills, and what he saw in those black orbs was not himself, but something that can be easily disposed off.

A sudden mix of fear and panic rose in his chest.

"Why don't you become a fortune teller instead?"

The doorman swallowed reflexive."I....what do you want sir?"

"Weren't you giving me advices just now? Tell me more; what stalls should I go to?"

"I am apologize sir. I was just a tired which lead to me making a huge mistake. I really apologize."

"If you are tired then you should just take a rest." Rapheal said thoughtfully.

In the doorman's ears it sounded the same as. 'Why don't I help you take a long rest that you will never comeback from?'

"I dare not sir." He gritted his teeth and replied.

"Oh...." The tone of his ringing phone cut of the rest of his words. Rapheal dug out his phone to answer the call.

Riley's voice immediately came through. "Were are you? Why aren't you here yet?"

"I am outside."

"Then why aren't you coming in? Should I come get you?" Her voice was curt as if not wanting to waste her breath on him.

"No need." Rapheal declined politely.

"Hurry up and don't keep the others waiting." She snorted then hung up.

Rapheal put the phone away and turned to the doorman.

The poor man was still sweating.

"I am here for a reservation under the name....what was it again?" Right. He had forgotten to ask.

So he called Riley again, after which it was confirmed.

Unknown to doorman let out a shaky sigh after he walked in.

Everyone else had already arrived so all eyes were on him the moment he walked into the private room.

"Look who it is. The princess. Surely took your time didn't you?" Jace said mockingly and the whole table burst into laughter.

Riley's face was ugly. She glared at Rapheal as he sat down next to her.

Looking around the table, he couldn't place a name on the faces.

It might have been just a day, or maybe a week difference for them. But for him, he had lived two more years in a different time and barely remember this small villains.

"You haven't ordered for anything yet?" He asked. There was just some complimentary wine on the table.

"We did. It should be on the way by now." One of Riley's friend, Tara replied. She was usually quiet and hardly speaks.

They were four girls present. Each accompanied by their boyfriends.

"Really, Raphael did you walk here or something? How come you took so long? We almost started without you." Manson said.

"It can't be." His girlfriend jabs him playfully. But her eyes glinted with a hint of gloating. "He has a car, right?"

Manson grabbed her hand and squeezed it playfully. "Those are all the Devereux family gave to him, now the real son is back, it shouldn't be his anymore."

A waiter knocked on the door, then walked in with a large tray. Followed by others.

"What's so good having cars? I can't even use all the ones I have in my garage." Henry leaned towards Rapheal who was sitting in his right. "How about I give you one or two?"

"Yooo...I didn't know this was a charity event." Jace scowled. "How much do you need? I will donate too."

Everyone burst into an unrestrained laughter.

Rapheal couldn't care what they were talking about. The restaurant main dish was sea food. He watched as the waiter carefully set the plates on the table.

The oysters were glazed with a hot red sauce. King size crab that occupied the middle sized plate, garnished with greens and heavy seasoning.

He could make out the scent of chilli, corn, smoked paprika...burnt garlic.

With a side of roasted tomatoes and broccoli.

Rapheal skillfully separated the deeply cooked meat from the shells.

It melted in his mouth. Exploding into a fireworks of flavors.

Too good to be true.

"Chill out man. It can't be that the Devereux family doesn't feeds you." Someone watched him with a disgusted expression.

"No." Rapheal, sucked on the leg of the crab, eating the meat clean. He looked at the Jace and said sincerely. "But you should eat more too. Your brain must be in need of nutrients."

Jace face immediately redden. "You filthy bastard! You have a big mouth don't you? Have you forgotten what happened last time, huh? Do you want to repeat it?"

"What? Apologizing? You want an apology?" Rapheal looked at him seriously.

"Are you even a man? Do you have no shame?" Jace was unused to and it made him irritated.

"Shame...." Rapheal looked down at his glass. His fair fingers stroked the rim quietly. The whole table fell into silence, and everyone unconsciously held their breath as they watched him.

In a split second it was as if he became a completely different person. Cold, untouchable and mysterious.

Rapheal picked up the cup, and drank all the wine. "It's tastes good. The prawns are almost finished."

Yes. Raphael was shameless now

He was confident in his ability and can even win an award for it.

Jace breath was caught in his chest. He shot Rapheal a intense glare.

Just now he had felt fear looking at the man.

No. I must just be imagining it. He is nothing but a good for nothing. A shameless trash who let's himself be controlled by others.

Jace convinced himself and the haughty look returned to his face. "Isn't it just prawn? Ask them to bring more. It's nothing I can't afford."

"There is a race competition taking place this Friday. The reward is in cash and it isn't stingy at all. Why don't you come?" Manson was the one that asked. He looked at Rapheal.

"No."
