Chapter 7 - Magic Defense Strength

Raisa saw Rei's flying magic, the magic barrier that blocked Flauros' flame blast, and the current shelf-breaking attack, and felt that Rei was abnormal.

"Hmm, that..."

When Rei turned around and said that, Raisa also looked in the same direction. Then they saw more than 20 armored vehicles lined up and heading towards them.

"Sakura-sensei! The Magic Defense Squad has arrived!"

"Finally!"

An armored car arrived here, and armed soldiers in black camouflage uniforms got out.

'Is that a human army?'

The Magic Defense Force is an organization created by the Japanese government to fight demons. It was different from the Self-Defense Forces in that it used magic to fight demons at the same time as conventional weapons like assault rifles and tanks.

“Immediately form a formation!”

Soldiers descended from the armored cars in a fan-shaped formation that surrounded Flauros. The number of soldiers is more than two hundred. Seeing this, Sakura-sensei left Flauros and joined Rei and Raisa.

With that said, Goto Hajime, commander of the Magic Defense Force and one of Japan's top ten, appeared before the three of them. General Goto was a forty-year-old man with a dignified bearing, carrying a Japanese sword at his waist.

"Yes. Please. Rei, Raisa. We will retreat."

"Got it. Rei-kun, let's go."

'Let me see how strong the human army is'

Rei, Raisa, and Sakura-sensei retreated to the area where the Magic Defense Troop armored car was parked.

"Guh, why? Why would you do this to a human opponent?"

Flauros was in a state of chaos due to being surrounded by Magic Defense Troops.

"Goto-san, this demon is the type that specializes in fire attacks!" Sakura-sensei shouted from behind.

"Understood. Everyone, prepare advanced ice magic."

Under General Goto's order, the two hundred soldiers surrounding Flauros raised their hands and concentrated purple magic.

"Oh my! Eat this!"

Flauros tried to let out a long breath as he shot fire at the soldiers, but his throat choked and he coughed his way out.

"Now! Shoot!"

The soldiers used magic to create several giant blocks of ice in the air and shot them at Flauros all at once.

"Guaaaaaaaa!"

The ice block that hit Flauros' body shattered, and then another block of ice hit and cracked it. All of the successive attacks hit, and Flauros suffered heavy damage all over his body, lost all of his bioenergy, was unable to maintain his materialization, and disappeared. Only the sword that Flauros was holding remained there.

'This is the first time I've seen so many people attack with the same magic at the same time.'

Rei saw how the Magic Defense Troops were fighting with discipline and thought about it.

'Originally, I thought of infiltrating the human army, but it was the right decision to stop it. Once you join the army, you won't be able to fight freely. Current school student status is the easiest to do.'

"General Goto, I have confirmed that the enemy has disappeared!"

“Umu, I struggled a lot during the senior demon battle three months ago, but this time I was able to beat him quickly.”

The Magic Defense Force soldiers started the evacuation work. General Goto moved to where Sakura-sensei, Raisa, and Rei were and called out to them.

Sakura-sensei tapped Rei's shoulder next to her as she answered General Goto. However, General Goto looked at Raisa, not Rei, and spoke to her.

"Hmm, are you Raisa-san, the runner-up of last year's National Simulation Battle Tournament?"

"Of course, if you are the second strongest person in the country, you will become a fighting force in the demon battle, but I am not impressed with bringing students to the demon battle."

Sakura-sensei didn't bring Rei and the others but made no excuses because it would make the students fight.

Feeling frustrated with this situation, Raisa tried to protest to General Goto.

Raisa tries to protest but loses interest in General Goto, who is a general of the Magic Defense Force and even older than her. Rei, seeing the situation, protested to General Goto instead of Raisa.

"We came here on our own accord, and we didn't come here on Sakura-sensei's orders."

"I'm Rei Amatsu, a first-year student at Mizu no Kagami Magic Academy."

General Goto was attracted to the young man who spoke openly to him the first time he met him. This was because there were only a handful of people who could stand up to General Goto, who was called the strongest class among the top ten in Japan and the pinnacle of the Magic Defense Army.
