Chapter 10 Payback

‘I need some time to think.’ I said.

‘How many gods have you slain till now?’ I asked curiously.

‘I have slain 21 gods and while fighting them 34 hosts have died.’ He answered me truthfully.

So it won’t be an easy task but I didn’t find anything wrong in what merlin was doing. If it wasn’t for those gods intervention I would have been enjoying my life on earth, I too want to kill them all but I have to think more practically before making my decision.

‘How did you end up in the dungeon of Demon king, if you were this strong?’ I asked.

‘The current demon king Diablo/Lucifer was a 68^th god slaying candidate selected by me but on the day of our decisive battle he bowed his head to the power of demon god who governed this planet and become his apostle.

Before the demon god could kill me, I sealed myself at the expense of huge amount of Fate point until the right candidate arrives and thus the demon king Diablo/Lucifer threw me into the deepest dungeon of his castle, by the way he has been given a new name from the demon gods so we should call him Lucifer now.’ He concluded, so he was waiting for arrival of someone like me.

“Wait the numbers are not matching?” I asked confusedly.

“I said out of 68 of my previous contractors, 34 are dead while fighting the demon gods and celestial beings but 33 of them are still alive excluding the current demon king Lucifer, did you think that one person is enough to stand against hundreds of gods out there, I am preparing a rebellious army of mortal who can fight against gods.” Merlin said and once again it reminded me of how big merlin’s goals were, he would be a fool if he only relies on a single individual, I thought.

“Wait so 34 of your previous host has died in the past, how are you still alive than, did you abandoned them in their last moment or something?” I asked doubting merlin for the first time.

“I didn’t abandon any of them but I can’t tell you how I survived until you agree to become my 69^th host.” He said.

‘I told you to not ask unnecessary question or the debt will keep increasing.’ Merlin said seeing the notification.

‘Wait aren’t you the one who is charging this fate point, how come you didn’t inform me about this when I asked you the question.’ I asked.

‘oh sorry I forgot your condition Is worse than a bagger host, I will let you know next time.’ Even he was making fun of me but I endured.

‘Ughhh I hated this debt notification considering that I didn’t had an ounce of personal debt in my previous life.’ I thought.

‘How can I earn more Fate value?’ I asked the most important question which was bugging me from a long time.

‘There are many ways, for once you have to complete the mission I will assign you in future or I have a list of peoples who needs to be killed in order to weaken the authority of demon god on this planet, as long as you kill them you will receive the specified number of fate points or you can trade a treasure or skill with me which I don’t have and I will give you fate points in exchange for that, there are other ways as well but you don’t need to know about them for now.’ He concluded.

When he mentioned the methods to earn fate points it piqued my interest and I told him some name to check whether they were on his assassination list and he presented me with the list of their bounties.

System asked me if I wanted to know the reason for their name in the list but I already had my own reason to kill them, but why the f**k my bi**h mother has highest bounty in all those group of clowns; I clicked on her name but received a familiar notification.

I discarded the idea of taking another debt but earning Fate point would be easier than I thought, it’s a pity that I can’t do anything for now.

‘Do you want to ask anything else or should I ask you my question.’ Merlin said.

‘I have tons of questions that need to be answered but for now I will digest this information you have given me, so you should ask me your questions now.’ I said.

‘I will not directly ask you question though but go through your memories and get to know what I want to know.’ He said and a notification appeared in front of me.

I didn’t had many secrets in my life except about the ability to know truth and lie but considering how sensitive information merlin has shared with me until now, it is only natural for me to share my secrets with him.

I pressed yes and all my memories started to play before my eyes from my past life till now or to be precise merlin was reading them like watching a movie.

Not even half a minute has passed and merlin finished reading 22 years of my memory.

‘Interesting an ability to distinguish truth and lie, it is a peculiar situation which I had never encountered, a mortal born with an ability which should be possessed by gods.’ He said.

‘Do you know anything about how you were able to awaken this ability?’ He asked.

‘No I had done a full body scan on my previous planet but I didn’t find anything inhuman within me, like some extra organ or anything different in brain, so I thought it was innate ability.’ I replied.

‘An innate ability haa, I have an hypothesis why you have this ability but in order to confirm my doubts I have to do some test after which you will be able to find the origin of your ability.’ He told me.

‘What test are you talking about?’ I asked.

‘For starters, the system that I have suppressed till yesterday, I want to absorb him completely.’ He said.

‘But what if he tries to self-destruct once again?’ I asked in fearful tone.

‘I have transferred the administrative power to you, unless you give him the control, he cannot harm you.’ Merlin reassured me and I agreed.

‘You won’t change and become like that bastard system after absorbing him right?’ I asked once again.

‘I assure you, I will not have any negative effect on me.’ He said and a holographic screen appeared before me.

‘It wasn’t as satisfying as I thought, by the way I had read all the memories of your previous system and you won’t believe me what I am about to tell you.’ He said but I didn’t believe his words after all the things I have gone through in the past few days there is nothing that can surprise me now, or so I had thought.
