An evil smirk formed immediately by the side of Benjamin’s lips; his eyes darted from the guard to James. He chuckled softly. “Someone had stopped me from entering because I wasn’t properly dressed.’ Benjamin intoned.

James’s expression went from mild to fury. How could a common guard stop his master from entering the Grand Land Hotel? His hand hurled at the face of the guard, and the sound of the slap echoed. The guard staggered backwards with a few of his teeth leaving his mouth, leaving the onlookers in extreme shock; a loud gasp escaped their mouths.

“How dare you? Do you have a death wish?” James barked; his voice was sharp but dangerous.

The once arrogant guard was now trembling in fear, he did the unthinkable by trying to humiliate the young master. Something his manager would never try to do.

Seeing the scene, Benjamin adjusted his cap to hide his face; the onlookers were taking records. The guards fathom what their young master had done and immediately cleared the scene.

The guard’s legs were too heavy to carry his body; he fell to his knees. As he crawled forward.

“I am sorry, I had no idea he was the young master.” He spewed out, as blood gushed out of his mouth.

“Please, young... young master I am sorry? Forgive me?” Benjamin moved backwards.

James dialled the manager’s number, and after a few rings, the bald man responded. “Where the hell are you. I am giving you two minutes to show your ugly face at the entrance of the hotel or you will have yourself to blame.” He hung up without giving the man a chance to utter a word.

Just then, the bald man, who is feared by his staff members, came running forward. He fell to his knees when he came closer; Mr. Nelson was so scared of James that he dared not offend him. He knew with just a blink of an eyelid, he wouldn’t only lose his job but would also lose his life and that of his family.

Mr. Nelson stared at his guard and Benjamin unsure of what to say or do. “Your stupid guard stopped the young master from entering inside, he even had the guts to try to humiliate him.”

He was taken aback in shock; he narrowed his gaze at Benjamin and at the guard, whose face was etched in fear and panic. He lunged forward at the hand as his fist came in contact with his face, the guard couldn’t help but growled in deep pain.

He added a kick to the face of the guard, as more blood gushed out. “I am sorry, please forgive me. I will handle this bastard.”

Benjamin nodded as he took a step forward, but stopped. “he threatened to break my legs, make sure he doesn’t leave with his two feet.” Benjamin commanded his voice was authoritative.

The manager’s gloomy face turned into fury, as he called the other guards and instructed them to deal with the guard. Benjamin seeing what was happening, couldn’t help but smile as he was escorted to see his mother.

This is what happens to people who try to be arrogant. If the guard had been told that he would face such treatment earlier, he would have doubted it.

James parted the door open for Benjamin as he made his way into the room. His mother’s eyes became blurred. A drop of tears escaped her eyes; she embraced him in a warm hug, which lasted for a few minutes before they disengaged.

Mrs. Janet made sure her son had a sumptuous meal before they engaged in any conversation.

“You should come back home to manage the family business; you have stayed away for so long.” She muttered.

Benjamin smiled at his mom’s words. The elderly woman in her fifties was concerned about her son. “Mom, I will only return home when I fulfil my promise to you and Dad.”

Mrs Janet shook her head, “You should let go and return home. Your father would be proud of you wherever he is. It’s been ten years since your sister left us. And you had stayed here for five years without any trace of her.”

There was a moment of silence between mother and son, Benjamin broke the silence after he drew a deep breath. “I am sorry, Mom, but I am sticking to my word. I will only return if I find my sister. I believe she is somewhere waiting for me. It’s a promise I made to Dad, and I can’t go back on my word.”

“You are as stubborn as your dad.” She uttered, “I will not force you, but remember I miss you and you are always welcome to return whenever you feel.”

She shoved out a document from her designer and slid it towards Benjamin.

Benjamin furrowed his brow; he took the documents, taking a glance at them as he flipped through each page.

“The document contained the list of properties we recently purchased in Morristown.”

He continued flipping through the documents carefully; he couldn’t believe his family owned the Grand Land Hotel, the same hotel he had been stopped from entering.

“I heard you haven’t touched a dime from the money I send to you weekly.” Benjamin averted his gaze towards James who shrugged. “I don’t want you to work anymore as a janitor, you have everything at your disposal. You are a Scott and not some dude on the street.”

Was she keeping an eye on her son?

Benjamin fathomed where his mother was heading, but he still wanted to keep his identity anonymous.

The meeting ended with the two parting ways; Benjamin returned home to keep the document before getting changed. He was about to flag a cab when a car honked and got his attention.

Benjamin glanced around; he wouldn’t want attention from his neighbours. The familiar figure smiled at him.
