Chapter 8. Power Without Reason

The three of them walked along a quite vast forest. The trees towered high, blocking a part of the sunlight that tried to penetrate to the bottom of the ground. That was a special forest provided by the Sect for the disciples to train.

However, those who could train in that forest, were specifically disciples who had reached the Pioneer Qi stage. Disciples who were still in the Initial Qi stage were forbidden from doing training on that mountain. That boundary was made not without reason, because the danger inside this forest could not be underestimated.

Along the way, Li Wei kept cursing in his heart. “If he did not come along, I would have run using a body lightening technique,” he thought. His face still looked relaxed, but inside his heart he was slightly helpless facing this situation.

Zhao Tian kept frowning staring at the backs of the two of them. The distance between them was not far, but the feeling that appeared inside him was uncomfortable. He could not hold it in anymore, so he asked. “Is the location of that spirit plant close?”

Li Ruyue smiled awkwardly. “The location is quite far, but there is no need to be in too much of a hurry.” She tried to keep her tone of voice light, even though she knew the real reason.

“Far? If it is still far, why are you guys walking so relaxedly?” he asked innocently.

“Damn, if I did not bring you, how could I walk relaxedly,” thought Li Wei. He wanted to curse hearing Zhao Tian's question, but could not say it directly.

“Run? If we run, you can be left behind. I do not feel Qi at all in your body. So never mind, just walk. Who knows when we will arrive at the location,” grumbled Li Wei who could not hold it in anymore.

SLAP!

However, just as he said that, his head was immediately slapped by Li Ruyue.

“Why did you slap me?” asked Li Wei not understanding Li Ruyue's action.

Li Ruyue did not answer him, she actually shifted her gaze towards Zhao Tian while smiling awkwardly. “Do not listen to him. This person indeed likes to talk carelessly,” she said.

“So from earlier you guys walked relaxedly because of me?” asked Zhao Tian.

“No, no,” replied Li Ruyue trying to explain, even though her explanation sounded unconvincing.

“If not because of you, indeed because of who else,” muttered Li Wei. But his mutter was clearly heard by them.

Li Ruyue glared at Li Wei, but Li Wei did not feel guilty for having said something like that.

Zhao Tian stopped Li Ruyue's behavior. “What Older Brother Li Wei said is true, there is no need to make a fuss. Now speed up your steps. I do not want to be a burden for the two of you,” he said.

“That is good,” replied Li Wei without waiting for Li Ruyue to respond. He immediately executed a body lightening technique, and ran as if carried by the wind. Calm, but fast, his body dashed among the trees without disturbing his balance.

“This bastard,” thought Li Ruyue.

“Do not space out, let's go,” said Zhao Tian quietly.

Zhao Tian immediately ran, he did not use a body lightening technique because he indeed could not. But his steps were so fast, not even losing to Li Wei. Every footing felt light, his body moved as if already used to that kind of speed.

Li Ruyue gaped slightly witnessing that. “How is it possible? He does not have Qi, but can move so fast,” she muttered.

She immediately ran to catch up with Zhao Tian. The longer it went, the more amazed she was made because Zhao Tian had no difficulty matching their steps. The distance between them did not change, as if they were indeed at the same speed.

Zhao Tian himself was confused to be able to move that fast, but this was also part of the research into the abnormality in his body. So he kept running following Li Wei.

After an hour of running, they finally stopped. Li Wei and Li Ruyue's breaths were slightly irregular, sweat began to appear on their foreheads. However not with Zhao Tian. That child remained fresh as if he had never made any movement at all.

The two of them looked at each other because they were quite surprised. However this time, their focus was not towards Zhao Tian, but towards the surrounding environment that began to feel different.

“Now the two of you wait here. I will lure the demonic beast away. After that, Li Ruyue, you immediately take the spirit plant. As for you, Zhao Tian, you wait here. Do not move. We will not protect you when we ourselves are fighting,” explained Li Wei.

Zhao Tian nodded not wanting to debate much.

Li Wei immediately jumped, he saw a three-headed lion waiting for the spirit plant. Its body was big, its breath was heavy, and the aura it emitted was quite pressing. “Damn, what guards it is a three-headed lion. This beast has the combat power of the late stage Pioneer Qi.”

RHOOAARR!!

That lion roared loudly when it saw Li Wei. Its voice shook the air around it, creating a wind wave that swept the ground and leaves.

“Ugly lion, I want your teeth. Are you willing to give them?” asked Li Wei with a loud voice, trying to attract the attention of that beast.

That lion was very angry. It immediately jumped to attack Li Wei without hesitation.

“Hahaha, ugly lion, it seems you are very stubborn!” shouted Li Wei while laughing out loud, then moved away to pull it out of the location.

When that lion successfully moved away from the location to chase Li Wei, Li Ruyue immediately moved. Her body dashed towards the spirit plant without hesitation.

However, just as she approached the spirit plant, an explosion sound was heard.

BOOM!!

Li Ruyue was startled in shock. However, when she shifted her gaze, she saw that three-headed lion was already dashing towards her.

“Damn, we were tricked. That lion does not have the combat power of late stage Pioneer Qi, but is already at the early stage of Guardian Qi,” she said full of fear.

Li Ruyue drew her sword, she tried to parry the lion's claws that were ready to tear her body.

BAANG!!

Li Ruyue's sword was not able to hold back the power of the lion's claws. Not only did her sword shatter, she was also sent flying very far, her body hitting the ground hard.

RHOOAARR!!

That lion roared full of hatred, it was ready to chase Li Ruyue again to ensure that the girl died.

Zhao Tian who was still watching was startled. He saw Li Ruyue had already fainted with just one attack. If that lion was allowed to attack Li Ruyue again, it was confirmed that the girl's fate would be death.

Zhao Tian jumped, and stood exactly in front of that lion. That was not because of his desire, but because of his own instinct.

“Enough!”

One word came out from Zhao Tian's mouth. But strangely, that lion seemed terrified when seeing Zhao Tian. Its body shivered without a reason that could be explained, even its wild instinct was as if suppressed.

That lion squeaked like an intimidated kitten. It turned around, and left that location to who knows where.

After that lion was gone, Zhao Tian just realized his action. He stared at both of his hands. “Who am I actually? Why did that beast look so terrified when staring at me?”

Zhao Tian increasingly did not understand himself. But now that curiosity grew even bigger to be able to understand his own body.

Birds chirped in the distance, creating a natural rhythm that soothed the heart.Seeing Zhao Tian approach him, Li Wei immediately ran toward Zhao Tian. “Junior Tian, it's a good thing you came out, I'm feeling a little bored,” he said.Ever since returning from the mission, his mind had never truly been at ease.
