Gabriel shouted, entering the living room. The tray fell from his hand with a loud thud. His heart was thumping wildly, and his hands were clammy.

He didn't sleep a wink since last night. His eyes were heavy and foggy due to his lack of sleep. He has spent the whole night, tossing and turning in bed, feeling restless. A heavy feeling has sunk into the pit of his stomach.

His entire body was on fire, But his heart was paining the most. He has given three years of his life to this marriage and family, but still, they never considered him anything apart from a free servant.

What hurts him the most is Amelia's acceptance of this marriage proposal. He knows that their marriage is not based on love, but he still loves her with his full heart. And hoped, that one day she will love him the same. He knew it would take time, but he was willing to wait for her.

“What did you say prude,”? Adam disparaged him.

“ I don't agree with this marriage,” Gabriel said slowly, gazing at Amelia. He rubbed his clammy hands on his jeans.

“ And who are you,”? Tristiny taunted.

“She's my wife,” Gabriel said, and just when the words left his mouth, a glass came flying in his direction.

Gabriel yelped in pain, and his hand instinctively rubbed the area to ameliorate the pain. The glass hit him on his forehead near his right eye. He looked up to see that Olivia was glaring at him with rage in her eyes.

His eyes met Amelia's and a lump formed in his throat gazing at her empty eyes. Chuckling humorlessly, he looked away. What did he even expect from her? They are right, he is pathetic. Pathetic to even believe that she would love him or even consider him more than a servant.

She will never love him, nor will ever she stood for him. It's not that he is weak. Gabriel has always been a kind and sensitive person. He was always sheltered from the evil of this world. He has never raised his voice with anyone and respected everyone. Furthermore, he is a firm believer that hate can only be marred with love.

“You are a fucking excuse for the husband of my daughter. A good-for-nothing prude. What have you done for her until now,” Olivia sneered at him.

“You wear my clothes, eat my food, sleep in the bed that I have provided you with, and today you dare to raise your voice at me,”.

“Who are you,”? Olivia shouted at him.

“Let me correct myself, dear son-in-law, what can you give her,”? Olivia taunted.

Gabriel opens his mouth, but Tristiny cut him off.

“Oh come on, aunty,” she said, walking towards Gabriel.

“What does he even have,”?

“He isn't even qualified enough to be in this meeting. He has no identity, no status, nothing,” Tristiny said, standing before them.

“Yes, and it's better Amelia marry that man. At least he is rich and has millions of assets in his name,” Kyla said with fake sweetness.

“At least he is not a free-loader like a certain someone,” Charlotte said with a glare.

“I have heard that recently they have bought the whole water project in America,” Charlotte added. He eyes twinkling with greed.

“Yes, mom, I have seen it. It's so cool,” Kyla squealed.

Gabriel took a deep breath to calm his raging heart. He was nauseated. In all his life, he has never seen someone as hollow and disgusted as Romano's. They don't value love and emotions, only bank balance and luxurious things. They even do charity, just to show off to people and gain profit from it.

Gabriel has kept his real identity a secret. He wasn't a nobody. He was an heir to a big, prestigious clan. But, his family has kicked him out due to some misunderstandings. He has kept his identity hidden because he didn't want any intricacies for his family. The paparazzi have always been on his family members' tails. And he wanted to avoid creating any more trouble for them.

Although, Romano has always treated him like a dog. He still loves and respects them a lot. He wants nothing but the best for them. Therefore, he was ready to keep everything aside and beg his family for help. He was willing to beg them for 20 million dollars to help his mother-in-law.

Ignoring everyone and their abuse, Gabriel went towards Amelia and softly held her hand. He rubbed his thumb on her palm in a comforting manner. He gazed lovingly into her eyes.

“I will arrange 20 million dollars, Amelia but, please don't marry him,” Gabriel pleaded.

Amelia's eyes went wide at his words. Amelia blinked her eyes several times. Everyone felt silent. She looked at him with soft eyes. Gabriel's heart started jackhammering. A soft smile adorned his face, thinking that she believes in him. And, at that time, he vowed to never let her down.

Amelia and everyone were silent, and then they all burst out laughing.

“Oh my Gosh,” Tristiny said while wiping the fake tears away from her face.

“This is the best one,” Kyla said while clapping her hands.

Olivia came towards him and took off her heels. She glared at him and rubbed her heels on his forehead. Gabriel tightly fisted his hands. He sank his teeth in his lips so hard that he taste the metallic taste in his mouth.

He closed his eyes, as Olivia rubbed her heel on his face and then on his clothed chest.

“The mud on my heels is more pricey than you,” Olivia whispered not so slowly near his ears.

Tears welled in his eyes, but he refused to let them out. This family has always treated him like their dog. They have always humiliated him. But, today, he felt like the last sting of his sanity is slipping from his fingers. He can't take it anymore. There is a limit to everything, and he has reached his own.

“Let me show you your worth today,” Olivia said, and with that, she started dragging him with her.
