Chapter 7

Pregnant?

 Oh only had she married Zared but she had also gotten pregnant with their first child, Lewis was utterly speechless after finding this out.

This was the worst betrayal he could ever imagine, at this point he doesn’t think anything could fix his broken heart, Zared continued to hold her in his arms, rubbing her belly while giving him a mocking gaze.

Lewis was still very much confused as to how Allison could marry a man she hated so much, now she didn’t mind him holding her in such an intimate manner.

“Now that you know the truth, you can leave now or do you mind giving the child a name? Not that it would be used, just a suggestion.” Zared laughed, his eyes gazing down at Lewis mockingly.

Lewis couldn’t contain himself any longer, he shut Zared a glare, they had tricked him and taken what belonged to him. He had only been a pawn to cover their deeds and they even went as fast as making his parents suffer, there's no way he would let them be.

He had been told to cover Allison’s brother issues for two years! He lost two important years , his parents suffered so much pain and mi in fun abject poverty and now his lover is married and pregnant to a man they both despised.

What could be more than this pain?

Lewis forced a smile. “Of all people, I didn’t think it would be you,”

Allison broke down on tears, falling to her knees beating his words, she couldn’t help herself, she too was tangled in the plan they had made, she wanted to hug him and tell him how much she missed him, tell him all she had gone through but his eyes seems to hold no space for her anymore. “I’m sorry.” she mumbled.

“I can explain what happened, please believe me,” she begged, reaching out to him but Zared pulled her back, glaring down at her. 

“Don’t think about explaining anything to a pauper like him, you're mine now and he doesn’t deserve you.”

Allison wasn’t herself, she too had sacrificed so much while he wasn’t here, she had hoped he would return but he was announced dead.

Her father Arthur fell ill and they had spent so much in hospitals to make sure he gets better but to no avail.

He had a rare disease and needed a very rare herb that could cure him but they were dry of money, financial associates weren't helping out any the only person who could help was Zared but he had his own terms.

She had to marry him.

Fallen stocks, a company at the brink of bankruptcy, little safe funds and nothing else but hope to hold on to, she had no other choice than to agree and marry into the Wallace family and be forced to have an heir for him.

Allison, still wanting to talk to him, tries taking her hands out of Zared’s grip. “I need to talk to him, let me be,” she pleaded.

“Only I can save you? That man is useless, you need me in your life because you deserve better.” Zared tells her, gripping her arm firmly, not caring if he was bruising her arm.

Pulling her close he placed a gentle kiss on her lips knowing it would anger Lewis even further and make Allison feel bad. One of his hand wrapped around her shoulder, pulling her even closer to him.

Allison more than anything wanted to run and pull Lewis into a warm hug, tell him how much she loves and misses him but right now she couldn’t, she couldn’t bear to cause anymore damage, she was trying to manage the situation she had fallen into and now this?

“Don’t think you can actually be happy with an ex convict, he has nothing to give to you.” Zared continued to taunt both of them.

“Thats right my dear daughter, Zared is always willing to give you everything you want without batting an eye.” her mother reminded her.

She was right but at a cost, to gain something from Zared, she had to sacrifice something else.

Lewis patiently waited for Allison to say something but Zared wasn’t making that possible, his eyes were constantly gazing at her in a threatening manner..

Lewis was crushed with disappointment, if only she could talk to him, tell him what was wrong and see if he could help her but her demeanor showed she wasn’t ready to leave Zared, In fact she married Zared with the kind of not ever going back to Lewis.

“Didn’t you hear that my daughter is pregnant? What more do you want? He’s wealthy and will do better than you.” Veronica taunted Lewis but he remained calm.

Zared, taking advantage of this, turned to Allison. “Is he troubling you? I can do away with him if you want, you just have to say the word and I will give you the go ahead.”

Allison remained quiet, Zared was filled with excitement as if this was all a game to him. Looking up at Zared he nodded at her. “Say the word baby.”

Allison felt cold with fear, remaining silent for fear that Zared might actually do something to Lewis, she didn’t want him to suffer anymore because of her.

Looking away from Zared to Lewis, she lowered her gaze to the floor, holding herself back from crying any further. “I’m married to Zared.”

Lewis nodded in acceptance, a smile spread across his lips. “It all makes sense, now I can do what I want.”

He didn’t deserve to be treated this way, he regretted sacrificing himself and being gullible to these rich people that only saw him as a pawn, there was no way he was going to let this slide so easily.

Turned to face Arthur. “You may think you have won but you know quite well that I’m not the culprit and only covered up your son’s mess.”

Arthur banged his hand on the table furiously. “You little twerp! Are you threatening me? Those stupid fools couldn’t do their work diligently, that's the only reason you dare stand toe to toe with me.”

“Threaten you? That will be up to the police to know who the culprit is, then you wouldn’t have the heart to talk rubbish.” Lewis replied.

Arthur burst out laughing. “Are you so sure about that?” He knew how foolish Lewis was and had a big forgiving heart, there’s no way he would go that far. “Cut the foolishness and go to the slums where you belong!” Arthur was filled with so much anger that he grabbed the bottle of champagne close to him and flung it at Lewis. He had had enough of him already.

Lewis didn’t bother dodging it and punched it with his hands, shattering the glass into pieces. They were all stunned by his actions and were frozen for a few seconds. They had all thought Lewis to be a weakling.

Lewis clenching his fists storming towards Arthur with murderous intent.

“Stop Lewis! Don’t hurt my father.” Allison finally screamed, her voice trembling. She didn’t want him to fight her family because of her sacrifice that cost them their love. She wanted them to end on a good note. She would not be able to bear it if anything else happens.

Hearing her, Lewis froze, glancing back at her hurt filled eyes, turning back to Arthur who looked back at him angrily.

“I’ll make sure you get what you duly deserve.” He warned.

Arthur stated to him furiously, confident that Lewis couldn’t cause him much damage, unlike Lewis he had so much connection and wealth that he could use to his advantage and Lewis was in abject poverty but his words seemed to stroke something in him.

“Get out of my house you useless beggar,” Arthur shot at him. Pointing towards the door. “I never want to set my eyes on you again or that would be the day you disappear from this world.”

Lewis removed calm, glancing at Arthur the man he had once viewed with fatherly love and Allison whom he wished to spend the rest of his life with.

His heart was filled with hatred and disappointment, he will be back for them.
