Chapter 10

"Young Master Lucian." Annabelle moved closer toward him, her eyes not daring to exchange contact with him as she shuddered.

"I'm sorry. It's all my fault." She was already shivering. "You can punish me in whatever way you please." She begged him but he only chuckled with his weak voice revealing how tired he was.

"I would prefer just Lucian without the titles. Can you do that?" He inquired staring right into her eyes.

For a while, she could not believe the words that just proceeded out of his mouth.

Her heart raced fast as though it was going to burst through.

"But she knew that whatever it was, she could not disobey her Young master.

"Yes, Young... I'm sorry Lucian." Her words broke into multiple stutters as she spoke.

"You should get up already." He helped her up.

She could not believe the sight that lay before her as she tried to comprehend what was going on in her head.

"Could all of this be a trick?" She thought.

When she heard that the son of the owner of the company who was thought to be dead was back, the only thing that she thought of was a domineering man who was going to rule with a deadly fist.

Changing policies and throwing sack letters around. She was prepared for the worst.

But instead, she met with the perfect gentleman who didn't want to carry the candle of being the richest man currently in the city.

Meanwhile, the security officer was still struck at the far end where he stood, his heart popping hard on his chest as though he was in a race.

"I'm doomed." The words continued to go round and round in his head.

Soon, his reflexes suddenly came back alive.

He rushed swiftly towards the point where Lucian was standing and fell to his knees. The sweat dripping down from the corner of his face was as thick as blood.

"Young Master. I didn't realize that you were the one. I would have treated you better." His hands were chopped, shivering like a baby that just caught a cold.

Lucian who seemed to have forgotten everything that just happened moved his gaze toward his direction, making him shiver even more

"If you had known? Is that how you would treat anyone else? What if I was poor, and I wanted to see someone here? You would have gotten away with that ridiculous act of yours?'

The initial frown that was hanging on his face deepened even more.

"I'm Sorry Young." He was about to complete his statement but Lucien waved his hands pulling him into a forced stop instantly.

"I just said it. You will not refer to me by that name." He replied.

"Okay, Sir Lucian." The name was equated to some sort of heavy luggage on his Lips.

"Fool after what you did you still have the guts to ask for forgiveness?" Annabelle was even more annoyed than Lucian was.

"Don't worry sir. I am going to deal with him rightfully." She said but Lucian shook his head.

He knew for sure that if she was empowered, she was going to serve him a sack later.

"This is his source of livelihood and it should not be taken away from him. And he should be punished too.

I want him demoted and I want you to see to that. That will be enough punishment for him Lucian finalized

Annabelle bowed slightly at his words.

"It would be done as you have said."

They made their way into the vast company headquarters and he could not help but marvel at the sight.

Embodied with linens of gold and stones from precious pearl

As they walked, everyone greeted them with so much respect and finally, they were at the office.

She took him through the process, making sure that she made him as comfortable as he could ever be.

"Thanks much again, Miss. Annabelle''

He appreciated it with a grin on his face and she smiled.

"It was a pleasure, sir." She replied.

He was about to leave and she followed him close. But then, it struck him that he still had an unfinished business that needed to be carried out.

He paused in such a swift manner that even the elegant Miss Annabelle was thrown off balance.

"Are you okay?" Lucian quickly sped off towards her to help her up as his eyes met with her blossom.

He pulled his eyes away swiftly and swallowed deeply.

"Are you okay?" He inquired once again and she nodded her head.

"I'm fine." She replied, trying to push forward a smile.

But this time, she noticed that there was something wrong with the expression on his face, different from the first Lucian that he knew.

"Is everything okay?" She Inquired.

"Yes." He replied swiftly, relaxing his face, seeing that the expression on it was causing a lot of trouble.

"I want to know what Melvin has to do with this company." He Inquired

But no matter how hard he tried to push the anger and hate that flooded his face, it still found a way of making itself through.

"He is the leader of one of the fastest-rising companies in the city." She began.

"Our company has always partnered with them until recently, we finally decided to give them a promotion in partnership and award them a megaproject." She replied."

"I see," Lucian replied, nodding his thoughts.

Random thoughts ran through his mind as to how he was going to deal with him after what he had done

Then a deadly thought flashed through his head.

"Is anything wrong?" Annabelle was eager to satisfy her curiosity

He explained everything that had happened to him and at the end, she was already swelling with so much fury and thought if she was given the opportunity, she was going to rip him apart into shreds.

"He needs to be dealt with, Sir. Lucian. So much that everyone in the city is going to hear about it." She was fuming with rage.

But at her words, he only smiled.

"Don't worry about that. I already have everything sorted out." He replied.

"Melvin, you have stepped on the wrong spot this time," Jane muttered under her breath, knowing that he was going to get the most unpleasant dismissal.

"I want you to send him a message. He is going to get the project." He replied.

The words that he just spat out from his mouth got her even more confused than she was already.

"But I thought?" She was trying to make out words in her head to express her shock but he only smiled.

"Don't you trust me?" He smiled at her and his heartwarming smile seemed to put her at ease almost immediately.

"Accepting this project is going to be the beginning of his downfall," he said under his breath

However, it was enough for Jane who was standing beside him to hear every single word of what he just said.
