Chapter 9

Taking the divorce papers away from him, Kelsea signed them without a second thought as her legs swayed gradually toward Melvin, kissing him right on the head.

Without a second thought, Melvin fell to his knees and Lucian shot his eyes in surprise, confused at what was going on.

As he watched, he brought out a ring from his pockets and drew it closer towards her as her face turned all red with a blush.

“I have always meant to tell you this. I have always loved you but someone stood in the way.

He stared at what was happening with so much disgust in his eyes.

"Will you marry me?" he asked

"Yes. Yes." Kelsea's response was loud and dramatic, as though she wanted someone to hear it badly.

"I can't stand this," Lucian muttered under his breath.

Making his way out of the little Villa, he could still hear Ella's voice bawling at him from behind but he ignored it.

Getting outside, he continued to walk in his paths. Intending to see the secretary so that he would have some things with his company

His heart was racing fast as he walked through the streets and due to the taxi drivers nationwide strike, he could not get an Uber.

The sun was high up in the air and he growled.

"God dammit. I am going to be smoked to death."

But finally, he could see the company just before him

He brought out his cell phone to confirm that the person he wanted to meet at the company was there.

Getting over to the company, he could not help but marvel at the gigantic sight that stood high up before him

Even though he knew for sure that it was his. His heart continued to brew in his chest swiftly.

Surprisingly, there didn't seem to be any guards at the place.

"That's weird." He said under his breath but finally nailed it up on the fact that they might be expecting him.

But pushing closer to the company premises,  a loud beeping sound echoed around him and a red light flustered around.

Confusion flooded his brain as he could not tell what exactly was going on.

Soon, a security officer fully came forward but immediately he set his eyes on Lucian, he sighed, dropping back the gun that he held in his hands.

"Oh my God. Not another one." He muttered with a hateful snare.

He Walked gradually towards the machine at the far end and turned it off and all the loud alarms died down almost immediately.

"I.." Lucian was about to speak but he would not allow him to spit out even a single word from his lips.

"You don't need to tell me who you are. I already know."

Lucian was already so tired just wanting to get over with all of that as soon as he could that he didn't notice the texture of his tone.

"Now that's great."

He muttered but not enough for the security officer to hear as he made his way towards the company but then, he was stopped by the security officer again.

His face was flushed with so much confusion as he shifted his gaze forward, as though he wanted an explanation.

"I thought you said you know who I was? I wasn't told that  I had to go through a procedure." He frowned.

"Yeah. And I did not change my words.

You are one of those bums, thinking because  this place Is the headquarters of the biggest company in the city, you can just come around anytime you want and beg for money."

His face was twisted with disgust.

His eyebrows furrowed with so much frustration."

"Not again this time." He muttered under his breath.

"I'm sorry to disappoint you but that isn't happening today. If you need daily bread, you can always look for a job or as you always do. Go to the street to beg."

The security officer responded.

Lucian straightened his broad shoulders and stared at the security officer right in his eyes.

"I'm not here for whatever it is that you just mentioned. I am here for business." He replied.

"Is that so? What business could someone like you have with the company." His voice was laced with mockery.

"Tell me huh?" He leaned his ears Forward, waiting for what Lucian was going to spit out next from his mouth.

"I want to see the Secretary."

Lucian thought that the security officer was going to have some trace of sense in him but immediately he spat out the words from his mouth, he busted out into laughter, so hard that a drop of tear streamed down from his eyes.

Lucian's tired teeth were now clenched with so much fury as he continued to stare at the display that stood right before him.

"I will have to admit that was a good joke." He replied, still trying as hard as he could not laugh.

"You are either the king of those beggars that always come here but if that's not the case this time, you are the king of comedians." He laughed.

With a frown on his face, his eyes zoomed off towards his wristwatch to see what exactly the time was

"I have other business that I want to attend to." He was able to keep his cool as he spoke.

"If you think that I am lying, you can always call her yourself." He replied.

Seeing how determined Lucian was, his face was twisted with so much anger.

"And what do you think? That I am going to fall for that?" He replied with a long hiss.

"Just take a good look at yourself. Do you think you are even worthy enough to clean the dust off  my shoes?" He glared.

But Lucian was not moved by his words, even for a single moment as he leaned forward and finally said.

"Cleaning your shoes?" He scoffed.

"I will get all your family's worth in a flinch and it's not going to do anything to my standing." He replied.

The words that just proceeded from his mouth got the security officer angry.

"You know what. I have entertained your stupidity enough already.

I am giving you just five minutes to get out of this place or you will be sorry." There was an air of threat around his voice.

But even with these words, Lucian didn't seem like someone moving off from the spot that he was standing on.

"Do you worry?" He glared.

His anger was triggered and his facial expression was laced with so much fur.

"You wouldn't  say that I didn't warn you." He growled, getting his cell phone out of his pocket and trying to place a call.

But for weird reasons, he paused and Lucian could not tell exactly why he did that.

Soon, the Swift pattern of feet made its way forward toward The scent felt like a smile from heaven, and Lucian was forced to turn around to see who it was.

His heart beating hard against his chest as though it was going to burst through.

His eyes met with a rare Gem standing right before him with all the sense of grace in every single step that she took.

The security officer seemed to shudder at her presence as she bowed slightly.

Her face deepened in sweat and her eyes moved around as though they were troubled.

"Good day, Lady Annabelle." He greeted

Even without saying it, Lucian could already tell that was the exact person that he had been looking for all these while and the security officer was preventing him from seeing her.

But for a response to his greetings, he got a thick slap across his face that got him startled.

Confused at what he might have done.

"You fool. What is good about the day after what you have done?" Another slap landed on his face.

His hands messaged the outlines of his aching face to reduce the pain as he continued to stare at the space like a lost sheep

"But what have I done?" His question was mixed with fear and confusion.

"Are you asking me that question? What have you not done? "
