Ch 10: A Night of Blood

Bella was truly shocked to find Leon was not in the room. She had just been thinking about putting distance between herself and Leon, but the reaction she showed now was like a mother who had lost her child.

She searched every corner of the room and the bathroom, but still didn’t find Leon there. In a panic, she rushed out of the room, calling for a nurse to find Leon’s whereabouts.

The night sky over Huston City tonight was adorned with heavy rainfall. Lightning flashes occasionally streaked across, illuminating Shaun Murph’s mansion, which was as luxurious as a palace.

In the living room, Shaun was seen sitting on the sofa with an irritated expression.

“Fuck!” he shouted, slapping the glass table in front of him. “Who the hell is that guy? How could you lose to him, huh?!”

Uncle Xiao, feeling that sharp question stung his pride a little, then answered, “I don’t know either. I’ve never seen him before.”

He then clasped his hands behind his back, pacing slowly with an uneasy expression. He was deeply curious who that young man was and what method he used to gain such ability.

“It seems he has a trick to defeat me,” Uncle Xiao continued.

“Bullshit! He clearly only had a trace of spiritual aura. It’s not even enough to walk the path of cultivation.”

“There is an ancient method that can significantly increase power in a short time—consuming a Heaven-grade Devil Pill. Not only strength, but bodily resilience will skyrocket even if the person isn’t a cultivator.”

After clenching his fists and taking a long breath, Shaun replied, “You mean, he took that rare and dangerous pill just to save a bitch like Bella, then offend the Murph family? Is there anyone that stupid?”

Uncle Xiao paused for a moment, digesting Shaun’s words. Consciously, he also doubted what he’d just said.

A pill that precious could only be made by an alchemist whose cultivation had reached Amplification. Even in the Murph family, the only one who had reached the Amplification realm was Elder Tom, Shaun’s great-grandfather, who was currently in closed-door cultivation.

Though extremely valuable because it could increase strength and extend lifespan, the pill had a vicious side effect: it would destroy the divine soul if it backfired. On the market, that pill was priced at $1 trillion per pill.

“Aaaah! I don’t care. He dared to humiliate me and forced me to kneel. If he doesn’t die today, then my surname isn’t Murph anymore.”

Uncle Xiao sighed while showing an expression as if he were thinking about something.

“I’ll take care of—”

Before he could finish his sentence, he suddenly sensed a tremendously powerful energy nearby. His eyes widened slightly, then he swept his gaze across the area.

“What is it?” Shaun asked, confused by Uncle Xiao’s expression.

KRACK!

At the same time, thunder cracked through the air, clearly audible inside the room.

"Who’s there? Show yourself!" Uncle Xiao shouted.

Shaun grew even more confused. "What’s wrong? Who are you talking about?"

"I sense an evil energy around here," Uncle Xiao answered.

Shaun also scanned the area. But he didn’t feel anything.

"Kill me? Huh. Are you capable?"

Suddenly a deep voice came from the second floor, making both of them turn around and look up slightly.

KRACK!

Thunder roared again, splitting the air. Its flash entered through the windows and vents, illuminating Leon’s muscular body radiating a blackish-red aura.

"You?" Uncle Xiao muttered, shocked.

He paused for a moment, observing Leon carefully. Leon’s sudden arrival, accompanied by lightning, made him look like a grim reaper ninja.

"You?" Shaun spoke, then began adjusting his expression, while swallowing slightly. "S-since when were you there?"

Shaun’s face looked panicked as his gaze landed on Leon. Remembering Leon’s strength from before, he didn’t dare show his horns.

"Um... I mean, y-you must’ve heard wrong. We weren’t talking about you. I mean—"

"Shaun?" Uncle Xiao nudged Shaun’s arm slightly. He whispered, "Something feels off about this man. He’s not the person we met before."

Upon hearing that, Shaun’s expression changed instantly. His fearful look vanished, replaced by the arrogant face he usually wore.

"Damn it! Who are you really? How dare you impersonate that guy!"

Shaun’s sudden reaction immediately startled Uncle Xiao. In his gaze, it was as if he was saying, What are you doing?

Right now, Leon, who was under the Heart Devil’s control, wasn’t showing his spiritual energy. The lights on the second floor had also gone out since his arrival. So, Shaun couldn’t clearly sense the danger in front of him.

"Shaun... wait."

Uncle Xiao immediately tried to warn him. But Shaun brushed Uncle Xiao’s hand away.

"What? How dare this man enter my house without permission. Uncle Xiao? Finish him!"

For a moment Uncle Xiao swallowed. This figure wasn’t something he could handle. Even the aura the man emitted was extremely strong—far stronger and crueler than the Leon they had met earlier at the hotel.

At first Uncle Xiao assumed the Leon they met at the hotel practiced a devil technique, which was why he became like that. But he wasn’t sure, because his instincts told him the man in front of him was someone else, not Leon.

"Shaun, sto—"

Uncle Xiao had just tried to stop Shaun, but in one breath, fresh blood sprayed into the air, splattering his face and clothes.

His body instantly froze, his eyes wide. In that moment, Shaun’s body collapsed, while his head flew through the air and rolled across the floor.

"Sh-shit!" Uncle Xiao muttered, his body numb.

That man’s speed was terrifying. He didn’t even have time to predict the man’s movement, who had suddenly appeared beside him and beheaded Shaun so easily.

"You lowly creature! Huh. You don’t even qualify to kill me," Leon said coldly, revealing his spiritual aura that made Uncle Xiao’s soul tremble.

Leon was still trying to process what was really happening. Why wouldn’t his card work? Was Frander trying to trick him?At this point, Bella should have been wondering why the card wasn’t working. Because as far as she knew, the card was hers—and she would have known for sure whether it was still valid or not. If the payment failed, the most likely reason would be insufficient funds, not that the card itself was unusable.Unfortunately, Bella didn’t get a chance to think that far. Her mind was a mess from all the unexpected events of the day."That can’t be right—try swiping it again," Leon said, refusing to accept it.Bella just stayed quiet, seeming to calm herself down. Her thoughts felt scattered, and the sounds around her seemed to fade into the background for a moment. After swiping the card a second time, the cashier shook their head. This time, their previously friendly expression turned cold. What was the point of insisting? If you didn’t have the money, you should just leav

In his mind, Leon thought the earlier warning should have been enough to scare the man off. But when he glanced at Hanna and saw her expression, he immediately understood what was really going on.Hanna had always been cunning and manipulative. It didn’t take much to figure out she’d egged her boyfriend on, making him regain his confidence. What made Leon even angrier was that this time, Hanna hadn’t just come with Henri—she’d brought two more friends along, who just happened to be their former middle school classmates too."What are you doing here again?" Bella asked sharply. She automatically handed back the black card she’d taken from Leon earlier, then faced Hanna, Henri, and their two middle school friends—Penny and Viona—square on."Why shouldn’t I be here? Everyone has the right to come in," Hanna shot back. Her face was full of arrogance and pride, a sly smile curving at the corner of her mouth."Oh, so this is the boyfriend you were talking about?" Viona cut in. She looked at
