Ch 09: Heart Demon
last update2026-02-14 23:33:27

At 10:05 PM, Bella took Leon to the hospital with a worried expression. She herself didn't understand why she was so worried about Leon. Could it be because Leon's face resembled the young master of the Vint family, thus fostering a deep sense of sympathy in her feelings? That was the question that briefly crossed her mind.

When they arrived at the hospital, the nurses there immediately took care of Leon, until some time later, Leon's examination was completed.

"How is he, Senior?" Bella asked when the door opened and revealed a tall, rather muscular man coming out of there.

"Let's talk in my office," the handsome man replied.

Bella then walked following the man until she arrived in a room.

"Before I tell you his condition, I want to ask. Who is that man? I've never seen him before."

Bella was silent for a moment. The man wearing medical clothes in front of her was Doctor Edward, her senior when she was in college. Because of her beauty and intelligence, she managed to captivate Edward.

Edward's love story wasn't as good as people's, because until now, he still hadn't gotten Bella's love. The last time he declared his love for Bella for the umpteenth time was when they were about to graduate. There, Bella still gave the same answer, which was to reject him. Even so, Edward was still waiting for Bella to accept his love.

Bella herself didn't dislike Edward. If it was just because of his face, Edward wasn't less handsome than Leon. However, in her heart, she still hoped that Leon wasn't dead and would return someday. She didn't know how long her heart would be tired of waiting, then accept another to enter her heart.

"A distant relative of mine. He's a distant relative of mine," Bella replied with a confident tone.

Edward was silent after hearing that. He then opened his computer and looked at Leon's examination results.

"What was he doing before you found him unconscious?" Edward asked.

"I don't know for sure. I was in the bathroom at that time."

Hearing that statement, Edward stopped his index finger scrolling the mouse for a moment. So, they lived under one roof? A distant relative? Why didn't I ever know she had a distant relative? That was the question that managed to make him daydream for a moment.

"Before going to the bathroom, I left him eating smoked brisket. Or, could it be that he's allergic to beef?"

Edward turned his attention to Bella. "His condition is fine. His body is healthy. There's no history of illness, no history of allergies."

Bella frowned slightly for a moment. Fine? Even though before she had touched Leon's body, which was like a hot pan.

"Look. This is the result we got after the examination. Everything is normal," Edward continued, showing the monitor to Bella.

Edward tried to explain the data displayed on his computer, making Bella listen and understand seriously. Yep, everything was normal.

"Maybe he fainted just because of fatigue. At the latest, he'll regain consciousness tomorrow. Let him rest first."

Bella sighed lightly and replied, "Um... alright."

After that, Bella rose from her seat and left from there.

As she walked with her back to Edward to the door, Edward's eyes seemed unwilling to let go of the woman. He only diverted his gaze when Bella had really left from there.

...

In the VIP room, a reddish-black aura still enveloped Leon's body. Even now, small red lines like embers could be seen on both his hands and neck, forming and connecting like blood vessels.

Inside his Sea Of Consciousness, the existence of his soul seemed to be sitting cross-legged on an ancient designed round altar. Around the altar was a stretch of pool of water, which was orange because it was exposed to the orange sky light.

Leon sat cross-legged without clothes, thus clearly showing the shape of his muscular muscles. Like on his physical body, the reddish-black aura and also the lines that connected like blood vessels colored embers seemed to envelop the existence of his soul. This was the heart demon phenomenon, which brought out the cruel side in Leon.

In the legend, even though the existence of the ancient heavenly body was very special, someone who was destined with that body was very difficult to embark on the path of cultivation. Even if they could cultivate, the consequence was that they could only reach the purification level of the transformation phase. If they stubbornly broke through to the next level, then a heart demon would form in their soul.

Since he broke through the Amplification level, Leon could survive from the heart demon only because of the seal that Master Lu had implanted in him. Even though the seal wasn't easily destroyed, still, the unwanted things could happen, like what Leon was experiencing now.

Basically, the heart demon was very strong. What was currently attacking Leon was just a ray of its aura. So, the only solution was that Leon had to find a way how to defeat and eliminate the heart demon.

If he didn't find a way soon, then his original soul would continue to erode, slowly until it was exhausted. As a result, the existence of his soul would be taken over and he would truly become a bloodthirsty demon.

On the bed, in an unconscious state, Leon writhed like a worm under the sun. The pain felt by the existence of his soul made his physical body uncomfortable. If he could scream, maybe at this moment he would have screamed in pain.

Some moments later, his body slowly calmed down, but the reddish-black aura still enveloped his body. Suddenly...

BOOM

An explosion of spiritual energy occurred, sending wind in all directions, slightly shifting the objects around, as Leon suddenly opened his eyes wide. His pupils glowed red, like a terrifying monster awakened from its sleep.

On the other side, Bella walked along the corridor. She didn't seem to be focused on the road in front of her, so much so that she accidentally bumped into a man.

"Ah, sorry," Bella said spontaneously.

The man only looked at Bella with a slight frown. He shook his head slightly for a moment and left from there.

Bella sighed before she took another step.

"I should have rested tonight. Unfortunately, many unexpected things happened. Now, I even have to take care of a stranger who I haven't known for a day."

"But why do I seem to have to take care of him? No. Bella, when he regains consciousness tomorrow, you have to find him a place to live. He's nobody. It's not good for a man to live in the same house as a woman either."

As she uttered those sentences in her heart, Bella suddenly realized that she was in front of Leon's room. Without hesitation, she opened the door, but immediately frowned when she saw that the room was a bit messy.

"Huh? Leon?!" she exclaimed.
