Before Adolphus knew what was going on, two policemen were already standing before him.

“I'm very sure that he stole my Rolex watch. Search for it and retrieve the watch immediately.” Richmond said, pointing at Adolphus with a serious look.

Without a warning, the policemen began to handle him like a thief, searching every part of his body.

When he tried to resist, one of the men gave him a slap.

“Stay still, you thief and let us do our jobs."

As he was being searched, Adolphus saw the mischievous grin on the faces of Richmond and his friends, as well as Svetlana.

There were also the other students laughing at him, including the arrogant Pius who had earlier slapped his mother.

Something was fishy about the way Richmond and his friends were looking at him.

The next minute, the police found the supposed lost watch in the back pocket of his worn out jeans trousers.

At that moment, Adolphus became dumbfounded and confused. He could not comprehend how the watch found its way into his pocket.

He had been framed.

“Oh, my God. He really did steal the watch. I can't believe that the minion is a thief?" A voice called him out from the crowd.

“Get that thief arrested immediately." Some of them echoed.

“I didn't steal that wristwatch, someone must have put it in my pocket to frame me. There's no way I would have stolen that when I just got here." Adolphus tried to defend himself but it fell into deaf ears.

Turning to Richmond and his clique who were smirking at him, he pointed out. “You guys are responsible for this. Why would you frame me?"

“Officers, take him away already and lock him up.” Richmond barked at the policemen like they were his lackeys and they quickly swept into action.

They began to drag Adolphus out of the place like he was a criminal.

And from the corners of his eyes, he saw the victorious look on their faces.

Pius even blocked his path and gloated. "Where is your fucking pride, loser?"

He shook his head disgustingly a few times and even spat on Adolphus's face. “That's for what you did earlier in my home. You and your foolish mother are yet to see the last of me."

That action made Adolphus very mad that he tried to break free from the policemen but their hold on him was very strong.

“Pius, you arrogant bastard. You're going to pay for this insolence.” Adolphus threatened even though he wasn't sure how that was going to be possible.

As he was being dragged out of the place, all he could see was mocking the eyes and laughter of the other students.

The only people that didn't laugh at him were Abigail, Donald and Glover.

Donald and Glover, his best friends, followed him to the police station and bailed him with their money. They never sent any words to Adolphus's mother for fear of how worried she would be.

As soon as they were outside the police station and Adolphus was now a free man, he stared speechlessly at his friends.

Donald and Glover were his age mates and their family are not so rich but they were better than Adolphus.

Donald's mother was late but his father was a bank manager who earned good money, enough to take care of his family.

Glover, on the other hand, has both parents and they run a big grocery store. It was their family business.

“Thank you so much for always having my back. I promise to repay you back every penny you've spent on me.” Adolphus said seriously, his deep blue eyes glancing at each of his friends.

He was a very handsome young man with a towering figure and an intimidating presence. Unfortunately, his presence was looked down on because he was poor.

An errand boy like him was never noticed by people even though he was very handsome.

Svetlana, who noticed him, only used him for her school work. But now that Richmond was her boyfriend, they could easily pay for grades so she didn't need Adolphus's help any longer.

In the Accounting department, Adolphus was the best student but he was still looked down on because of his background.

His intelligence was not able to cancel his financial capacity.

“You don't have to pay us anything. We're your friend and will always have your back.” Donald reached out and patted him on the shoulder.

“And Svetlana, I tried to warn you about her but you didn't listen. I even tried to stop you from going to her birthday party but you ended the call."

“If you had listened to me, something like this would not have happened." Donald continued but Adolphus said nothing.

As he thought about Svetlana, his heart broke the most. He was desperately in love with her and had plans for her.

Adolphus had great faith in himself and believed that he'd get a good job after their graduation. At that time, he'd be able to take care of the women he loves. Svetlana and his mother.

Unfortunately, Svetlana had decided to follow another guy who was rich, abandoning him.

Adolphus only remained silent as he was lost in his own thoughts.

“Come on, let's go back to the hostel. We didn't inform your mother about your arrest so be rest assured that she wouldn't find out about it."

“Unless you tell her yourself." Glover added, giving him a concerned look.

“I won't even think of telling my mother. I can't have her getting more worried because of me.” Adolphus replied to him.

At that moment, his phone began to ring. When he saw the caller's identity, he gasped loudly and turned to give his friends a shocking look.

Adolphus stood still, gaping at Abigail with a confused look on his face. He wanted her to continue walking, but she stopped when the phone rang. “Aren't you going to answer the call?” She called out, but Adolphus didn't budge. He let the phone continue ringing, and it eventually stopped. Adolphus had this strange feeling about the caller's identity. He felt that it was his father on the line, and there was no way he'd answer the call before Abigail. The phone began to ring again, and he gradually brought it out, making sure that Abigail didn't see the screen. “Excuse me, I need to take this.” He muttered, scurrying away and finally standing out of earshot. He'd seen that it was his father on the line, and he wouldn't want to decline the call. Nicolas McAllen was a very busy person, so taking some time out of his busy schedule to call Adolphus means that he truly cared about his son.He even had to hurry to the hospital late at night when he heard the unfortunate news of Adolphu

“Don't worry about your family. They'll eventually come around.” Adolphus dismissed her fears like they were nothing. They meant nothing to him because he was now beyond their reach. The Grahams could only get him when he acted carelessly like the previous night a truck almost ran him over.Adolphus was still convinced that it was not an accident. Abigail gave him that ‘are you being serious’ kind of look. She knew her parents more than him, and there's no way they'll accept Adolphus unless he was from a rich family. And from what she had learned about Adolphus, he didn't have any other family except his mother. Abigail has not seen any man in their lives, and in the little time she interacted with Doris Stephenson, she never said anything about Adolphus's father. She always avoided answering any question that related to the topic about Adolphus's father.Doris was an orphan, but Adolphus wasn't, and his father was still alive. With those thoughts in her mind, Abigail decided to

“It's just a matter of time before the person shows himself, so being anonymous doesn't make someone a ghost.” The students went on and on in disagreement with Richmond that he had to furiously leave the place. It was all Adolphus's fault who brought the matter up. He had intentionally done that to make Richmond feel embarrassed, and he succeeded. After Richmond and his friends left the place, everyone dispersed. However, Adolphus went to get his injury treated before going back to class. Abigail was yet to find out what transpired in the accounting department because of her.She didn't know that Pius and Adolphus fought because of her. After classes, Adolphus went to wait for Abigail while his friends and their girlfriends went to have lunch together. Everyone wouldn't stop talking about the earlier incident. He waited for her by the lobby, and when she finally showed up before him, he handed the box to her, smiling. “You forgot this last time.”Before Abigail's eyes met his hand

“Now, you're bleeding.” Glover added, taking out a handkerchief from his pocket and pressing it onto Adolphus's forehead where the blood was coming out from. They stood meters away from the other students who were gossiping about the earlier incident. Some were in support of Pius and were throwing abuses at Adolphus. Only a few people didn't take sides. “Do you want to kill him? He was only looking out for his sister and did what every brother would do?” One person called out, pointing at Adolphus, who ignored them.“I would have done the same thing if my sister was in a relationship with someone like him. I'm quite sure he'd also want his own sister to end up with someone better than him.” Another person added. While they blamed and cursed at Adolphus, Pius charged at him, but surprisingly, Drake held onto him. Drake stopped his friend from fighting Adolphus, whispering to him.“You shouldn't bring yourself so low as to fight with someone like him. There are better ways to do tha

Stunned to hear what his friends have just spoken, Adolphus gave them a very serious look and stated as a matter of fact. “I don't think I can stay away from her any longer, no matter the opposition we face. In fact, Abigail is the one I want to build my life with, and I'm sure her family would have no choice but to deal with that.”Being a different person, Adolphus was sure that nothing would be able to stop his relationship with Abigail. Her family was just ranting. It's only a matter of time before they succumb and give in.In fact, they'd do everything possible to be on his good side.“Wow! That was really fast. You guys just started dating, and you're already sure about her.” Donald commented, sharing a glance with Glover. It was Adolphus's confidence for them. The naive Adolphus they knew was changing every day. The friends believed it was good to have confidence, but too much of it was bad.At that moment, Adolphus was displaying over confidence. “You said it yourself, Abi

Bradley swallowed hard, his eyes fixed on Adolphus's serious face, and with furrowed brows, he inquired. “Do you suspect anyone?”Adolphus thought about it for a moment before shaking his head. “No, I don't have anyone in mind that'd want me dead. However, I have this feeling that someone planned it to look like an accident.”Adolphus has the feeling that Ursula McAllen was the suspect. Or was it Richmond?Since Richmond had the mind to send people to beat him up to coma, it was also possible that he could pull off such a stunt. There's also his newly found household foe. His father's wife could be the one behind it.Well, he wasn't so sure because he knew nothing about her.He was yet to find out if she was capable of pulling that off.Adolphus knew nothing about Ursula McAllen and if she was just angry that her husband had another child.
