“Yes, sir!” Ferdinand said on the phone as he received the order from the president.

He was dressed in boxers and held a glass cup in his hands as he stared through the glassy wall, looking at the magnificent view of the long swimming pool right before his eyes.

He had been drunk beforehand, but now, his face had been washed. He had gotten enough sleep and woken up to his empty bed.

All the ladies he hired overnight to service his middle leg had all left. He was now left with himself.

He took a sip slowly. It was time for him to dress up and time for him to head out of the States. He needed to land in Southlake and do what the president had asked him to do.

He smirked as he took the sip.

“Alex,” he muttered.

To be given the liberty to take Alex out was something he couldn’t have wished for more.

“You have indeed been a thorn in our flesh. It is time to learn the hard way about the people you must not mess with!” he said.

Then, he walked to the balcony and rested his elbow on the handr

Langston smiled. It was like a heavy weight was lifted off his chest. He knew Robert's ideas always hit the nail on the head. “Why didn’t I think of this before?” he sounded. His voice filled with so much hope.Langston's secret service was one whom no one in Velmoria knew who they were. But each citizen of Velmoria knew the president of Velmoria always had a secret service. This secret service was the most skilled set of people who maintained a hidden identity according to the agreement they signed with the White House and the body of the Presidency. This way, each secret agent was picked from the best of the best in each of their separate fields. The hacker, field agent, driver, sniper, among others, were the best they had picked them from. So, with this, there was none in the whole of Velmoria that could compare. And the only person who could give orders to them was the president only.Langston picked up his phone and texted a secret number, “Assemble, we need to see.” “Okay s

Political campaigns have always been done in Velmoria by aspiring presidential candidates with a lot of strategies, and with Langston, it was not a different story.Langston rose up from his presidential bed. The previous night had been a night that made him feel better. Or much better to say, Julie made him feel better. He walked slowly to the presidential bath and had his bath. When he was done, he walked back into the presidential room.Langston was not the one to dress up himself. He was the president of Velmoria, and he would only go out of his presidential room when he had been threaded by his presidential stylist.“Good morning, Mr. President.” Three ladies bowed to Langston as they stepped into the room. They wore perfectly fitted suits and above-the-knee-length mini skirts that brought out their shapes. This was the rule created by Langston since he became the president of Velmoria.“No presidential stylists or housekeepers must wear anything shabby. And ladies must always wea

Ferdinand smirked. The image of Alex being shot in the head played vividly in his mind, filling him with satisfaction. The thought alone was exhilarating, but what thrilled him more was the anticipation of turning it into reality. Soon, very soon.He swung his pistol into its holster, securing it tightly. Then, he buttoned up the second pistol in his other holster. "Now, shall we?" he murmured, adjusting his suit with a confident smirk."White is for purity, black is for evil." He chuckled to himself as he strode back to his room. There, he dressed in an immaculate white suit, paired with a matching white hat, pants, and leather shoes. The contrast between his attire and the malice in his heart amused him.Leaving his house, he slipped into his sleek Mercedes-Benz and sped toward the airport.Within forty-five minutes, he was on a plane, en route to Southlake.***Meanwhile, the morning sun cast its golden glow over Turnish as Alex stirred awake. Lucas jolted awake with a gasp. A sudden, piercing scream echoed through the house, yanking him from sleep.“Daddy!”“Daddy!” The cries came again, desperate and urgent.Lucas shot out of bed, his heart pounding. He barely registered the cold air against his skin as he rushed out of his room and down the stairs. His feet barely touched the ground as he bolted toward the source of the cries, his mind already racing with dread. He shoved the door open and froze. His breath hitched as he took in the sight before him.Allen, his second son, lay on the floor, gasping for air. His small chest heaved violently, his hands clawing at his throat. His wide, panicked eyes searched for help, his body trembling.Lucas’s hands shook. He knew this look all too well. Allen had been diagnosed with asthma at the age of five, and every attack was a fight against time. This was why Lucas never let him out of his sight for long. He homeschooled him, monitored his activities, and even made sure his elder br

Lucas clenched his fists. He had tried everything—none of it worked. Was he really going to lose his son?“I sincerely apologize, sir. I know you desperately need this money, but there’s nothing I can do—not when you don’t have a good enough collateral for us to lend you this amount,” the loan officer said, folding his hands together on the table.Lucas remained silent, his expression bleak. His eyes, reddened from stress and exhaustion, mirrored his despair. The words that denied him the loan echoed in his mind, dragging him into a state of helplessness.“But… but my car! I can use it as collat—”“As per our bank’s policy, to approve a loan as large as $50,000, your collateral must be worth at least twice that amount,” the loan officer interrupted. “Your SUV, at best, would be valued around $35,000 on the market, and that’s only if we find a good buyer. That’s not enough, Mr. Lucas.”Lucas exhaled sharply, tilting his head back as he stared at the ceiling, then lowered his gaze to th

“White House, this is Agent Hockey speaking. Who is this?” a deep male voice answered the phone.Lucas, hearing the voice, immediately knew he was speaking with the Velmorian White House. In the White House, every member had originally been an agent. This was why, when matters involved national security, every one of them knew how to handle a weapon.“Let’s just say I’m someone with the information you’ve been desperately searching for,” Lucas said in a low, deep tone.“We don’t have time for games. State your name and purpose.” The voice on the other end was firm, making it clear he would hang up if Lucas didn’t talk fast.Lucas chuckled softly. He was a butler in the Turnish White House, and he understood how this worked. The agent wouldn’t hang up—not when Lucas had claimed to have valuable information.“Ah, but time is exactly what you’ll save if you listen. Lucas's eyes widened in shock. “They really sent it!” he exclaimed, barely able to believe what he was seeing.Even though he worked in the Turnish White House, he had never seen $100,000 in his account before. His salary had always disappeared quickly, drained by Allen’s ongoing medical treatment. The expenses gnawed at his finances like a parasite leeching blood from its host. But now, for the first time in years, a surge of relief washed over him. The money was real. It was finally there. He jumped up, his joy bubbling uncontrollably. Yet, he knew he had to contain himself. He couldn’t afford to let his excitement slip through the phone call.“I’ll text you the address once I lure him out,” he said, his voice steady despite the thrill racing through him. Without another word, he ended the call.Though Lucas had used a private number to contact the Velmoria White House, his bank details had been necessary for the transfer. He was no stranger to slipping through borders undetected.Settling into his seat, he pulled out the Greenrivers State passport he had used to board the plane. As he stared at it, lost in thought, a gruff voice beside him interrupted his contemplation."I've never heard of that country. Where is it? His potbelly jutted out, making him look like a heavily pregnant woman.Irritated, Ferdinand hissed, "Why not mind your damn business?"The old man recoiled, blinking rapidly. "Huh... never... never mind." His tone was defensive, though he hadn’t intended any disrespect—just idle conversation to pass the time. With a dismissive shake of his head, Ferdinand re

Elisha stepped his foot into the office. It was quiet, elegant, and heavily guarded. He saw Alex sitting right behind his desk like the president he was—confident, composed, and commanding.“Mr….” Alex began, feigning ignorance of his name. He did it deliberately. He wanted Elisha to repeat his introduction, hoping that this time he might slip, say something different—something that would give Alex a reason to act.Receiving his handshake with a respectful bow, Elisha obliged. “Elisha Gunn, President of the Children’s Wealth Foundation Home,” he said firmly.A military general like him? He had gone on countless missions in the past—covert operations that demanded he maintain alternate identities. How could he forget something as simple as a name? Especially when the first name was real and the last name was fabricated? This was child's play for someone of his caliber.Alex nodded slowly, his sharp gaze fixed on Elisha. He gestured to the chair in front of his desk with a smooth wave o

The crowd rasped their hands together again, and the applause was louder—yet gentle—at the same time. It wasn’t a thunderous roar, but rather a respectful acknowledgment of the moment. This was the sign that Alex was leaving the stage, heading somewhere private, as was customary for such events. But it didn’t mean the party was over—not by a long shot.Hence, knowing this all too well, Sonya leaned closer to Elisha. Her voice dropped into a whisper. “Like I said earlier. I will make it happen. But after I do, you better keep to your word, because I will be waiting for you.” Her words were soft, but they carried weight, a kind of veiled threat wrapped in promise, as they reached his ears.Elisha smiled again. Women were always the same, he thought—complex and calculating in the most familiar way.In this very moment, his mind drifted back to a memory during the time of war when he had been deployed to Afranister. “Ahem!” Ms. Sonya cleared her throat the moment she noticed Alex and Elisha holding their handshake longer than usual. The atmosphere around them shifted—subtle, but undeniable. She narrowed her eyes at the pair. Her gaze moved to Alex’s face. His expression was slightly squinted—like someone trying to process a gut feeling or a hidden message. There was tension in his eyes, not the typical expression worn when meeting a stranger. Then she turned her attention to Elisha. He wore a smirk. Not just any smirk—it was the kind that carried intent. Calculated. Confident. There was something behind it, something unspoken. But what exactly, she couldn’t tell.Maybe they were old buddies just reconnecting? she thought, attempting to shake the discomfort as she stepped back. Still, something about their exchange didn’t sit right.“Perhaps I’ll leave you two to catch up, huh?” she muttered awkwardly, trying to mask her confusion with a polite smile before walking away quickly, heels tapping shar

  • Chapter 0238 Alex Speech

“Shall we go see the president?” he gestured lively to the ladies. It wasn’t just a casual suggestion—it was a calculated move. As a general, he knew how certain kinds of people responded to power and presence. Ladies, especially those of high standing, often relished being seen in privileged company or known for being familiar with influential individuals. Elisha had learned this much from his interactions with them. Judging from everything he'd picked up since mingling in these circles, it was always about the appearance of access.“I have never spoken to the president one-on-one before. I dream, perhaps my lucky day is today,” he added, lowering his gaze toward the glass of wine in his hand. He crafted a look as pitiable as possible, as though this unfulfilled wish weighed on him deeply.Hearing that he had never spoken to President Alex before, the ladies gasped, covering their mouths in surprise. There were three of them in total—elegant and commanding. Elisha sat on the edge of the bed in his hotel room. The room was not like something he was used to.The small-sized bed, the small-sized room, the small-sized everything that was put in the room. It all felt almost suffocating. Back in Norway Bradad, his governmental-given residence was triple the size of this small-sized reservation in this hotel. But even so, he purposely chose the room.“It would be easier to get ready for the day ahead here than being in the bigger room," he convinced himself as he inspected this room before he paid for it. Sometimes, simplicity helped him focus.Ten minutes into sitting there, lost deep in thought about how he was going to execute his plan tomorrow, he heard the doorbell ring. Quickly shaking himself out of his mind maze, he rose to open it.Before opening, he already knew it was no one other than the personal shopper who had been summoned by the receptionist, judging by the needs he had earlier mentioned to her. He straightened his posture befo

This apple tree was the first edible fruit tree he had seen since he had started wandering through the dense and relentless jungle. To this discovery, he decided he would not miss this opportunist.Elisha looked up to the top of the tree and noticed a few apples already ripened under the orange sky. He reached out and touched the trunk, feeling the roughness of the tree bark beneath his palm. It was sturdy enough—something he could climb.Different countries, different weather, different soil, right? Back in Norway Bradad, apple trees were short. You could simply stretch out your hands and pluck even the apples
