Almero left Abigail's apartment with heavy feet. He never imagined he would suffer such a fate: he'd been framed and cast aside by the Greysoon family. Not long after, his best friend had broken up with him, and now Abigail was having an affair with Jeff—the biological son of that cursed family.

A clap of thunder rumbled, as if the universe was reminding Almero not to give up. Without money and connections, he was nothing!

But seconds later, he remembered the calm faces of Abigail's parents, who had always treated him kindly. A warm feeling suddenly filled his chest, thinking they would surely help him expose the slander the Greysoon family had leveled against him. Almero still didn't know they already knew everything and immediately fled.

"I'll just ask them to help clear my name," Almero said with determination.

Almero didn't care that he was wet and shivering from the pouring rain; he could only walk to the Mooer house because he had run out of money. The night was getting late and the wind buffeted Almero's weak body, but he still forced himself to walk in the pouring rain. Ahead, he saw a woman getting out of a car, checking her tire, which appeared to be flat.

"Miss, is there anything I can help you with?" Almero asked, feeling sorry for her and unable to ignore her plight, especially on such a deserted street.

The woman didn't answer immediately; she noticed his pitiful appearance. She immediately stepped back with a wary expression.

"D-don't come any closer, you must be a criminal." The woman spoke, taking a step back.

"I'm Almero, the man whose face went viral on social media today, the adopted son of the Greysoon family." He deliberately spoke this way to show her that her assumptions about him were wrong.

The woman didn't immediately believe him and first studied the man's face intently. He was indeed the poor man.

"Why are you in this condition? Who hit you?" the woman asked, her face filled with sympathy.

"That's not important," Almero said. "I think your tire has blown out. Do you have a spare?" Almero asked politely.

"Yes, can you help me?" the woman asked back with a hopeful look.

Almero nodded and, under the pouring rain, helped the woman change the tire. The beautiful woman stared at Almero. She didn't know him, but somehow she sensed he was a good person and not what the rumors suggested.

After the tire change, the woman immediately offered to drive him to his destination. Almero, who clearly needed help, readily agreed. After a long journey, Almero finally arrived in front of the Mooer family home.

Wearing wet clothes, Almero stood in the living room at 2:00 a.m. The maid looked sleepy, but she still made him a hot drink and brought him a dry towel. After thanking her, the maid excused herself.

"This is my only hope. I believe they will help me," Almero said after hearing approaching footsteps.

"You disturbed my sleep, Almero," Rvel said, crossing one leg after sitting down on the sofa.

"Abigail isn't here, she's in her apartment," Eren replied sarcastically.

Almero, who was standing there for a moment, was silent. For some reason, he could sense a change in the two of them's demeanor; usually, they always spoke to him in a warm tone. However, Almero still tried to think positively, as he arrived past midnight, and it was natural to disturb their sleep.

"Mom, I know Abigail isn't there. I just came from her place, and she was making out with Jeff," Almero said, his voice trembling with anger.

"What! She's making out with Jeff?" Eren asked, shocked, pulling back from the sofa.

"Yes, and Abigail broke up with me," Almero said, holding back his anger. "She also said she'll marry Jeff soon," he continued, his heart breaking.

Rvel and Eren exchanged glances. Almero thought they were going to scold his daughter. But seconds later, that thought evaporated with Eren's sharp, shrill voice.

"If you knew our daughter was going to marry Jeff—the sole heir of the Greysoon family—then why are you still here?" Eren spoke, glaring at Almero.

Eren didn't even bother to hide his true greed. It didn't matter to him who his son-in-law would be, as long as that person possessed wealth far surpassing that of the Mooer family.

"Wh-why, Mother..."

"I'm not your mother!  "Stop calling me that disgusting name." Eren cut Almero off sharply.

"Without the Greysoon surname! You're nothing more than trash on the side of the road.  "It's only natural that Abigail broke up with you," Rvel said, rising from his position.

Almero paused for a moment, his knees feeling weak and trembling, as he couldn't believe they were the same people who had belittled him. Almero swallowed back any hope of asking the couple for help. His fists were now clenched tightly, and he glared at them both sharply.

"If only I hadn't helped you back then, you wouldn't be living comfortably like this," Almero hissed angrily.

"Never bring up things from the past, because they're no longer important," Rvel hissed coldly.

"I thought you were different from the others, but in fact, you're just like that bunch of shameless people," Almero cursed, his fists clenched. "I will repay every insult you've directed at me."

"Never mind getting back at all of us," Eren said mockingly. "Even with your midfielder-like appearance, I'm sure you don't have any money, let alone a place to live," he continued, smirking.

Almero's face turned bright red and lightning flashed.  His eyes seemed to radiate a fiery blaze.

"Look, he can't answer. That means what we said is true. He has nothing and still dares to threaten us," he said, laughter crackling in the air.

"You adopted child! Get out of this house now, or I'll have the security guard drag you out!" Eren threatened, crossing his arms arrogantly across his chest.

Almero wanted to speak up against these two imbeciles, but he chose to remain silent and swallow his words. He walked out of the house, trembling.

The rain had stopped, but the cold still pierced his bones. His clothes were soaked, and he walked aimlessly, carrying a grudge in his heart. After two hours of walking, he stopped in front of a closed shop. In the corner of the shop were two used cardboard boxes. He immediately used them as a bed, staring at the deserted and dark street, much like his life.

Unbearably tired, he finally fell asleep, shivering with cold.
