2. Second Chance

"Where on earth have you been all this time?! I've been looking for you, you fool!" reprimanded a woman from behind him.

He looked back to see her face scowling as she crossed her arms.

Glenn was taken aback, seeing the face of his young wife. She looks astonishingly beautiful with her red hair, milky skin and sexy figure.

That face used to captivate him completely. He would go to any lengths to win her affection.

Little did he know that behind that stunning facade lay a deceitful and vile witch.

‘When did their dirty game begin?’

‘Where did they often meet?’

‘How could their relationship escape my notice?’

These questions swirled in his mind. To enact his revenge, he was determined to follow Amber's game.

He wanted to understand how foolish he was back then.

This time, when fate gave him a second chance, he vowed to make sure he would give them both what they deserved!

"What's wrong, Amber?" he asked.

Now that his heart had grown numb to her charm, he could see how irritating the woman he once desired had been in front of him.

He had found it absurd how Amber had mistreated him unknowingly.

Observing her closely, he realized Amber had avoided making eye contact, and her body language had seemed distant.

"You promised to accompany me to hunt for the limited edition bag at that branded store. They released it this afternoon. And because you were so hard to find, that bag was sold out!” Amber yelled at him in an irritated tone, folding her arms across her chest.

“Luckily, they agreed to reserve one for me, thanks to my connections. Unfortunately, the price now has skyrocketed since it's been sold out everywhere. So, because it's your fault, you have to take responsibility and pay for it!" demanded Amber with a bossy tone.

Glenn chuckled and shook his head, wondering how he could have been so blind before. It was clear that this was just one of Amber's tricks to manipulate him, taking him on a guilty trip solely to benefit herself.

Amber only approached him if it involved money.

Only Glenn was the man who could provide that unlimited resource for her, which was why, albeit unwillingly, Amber still chose to be close to Glenn. Glenn was the only one capable of supporting her hedonistic lifestyle.

"Oh, okay, I'll accompany you as long as it makes you happy, Amber," replied Glenn.

Upon hearing that response from Glenn, Amber's face instantly lit up, and they proceeded to go to the place she wanted. All eyes seethed with envy toward Amber, who had captured the love of a wealthy young man like Glenn, especially since Glenn treated her like a queen, allowing her to trample on his dignity.

Using an Audi A4, a luxury car at that time, Glenn drove Amber to the coveted bag store. Little did she know that Glenn had prepared a devious strategy to humiliate her.

Upon arriving, he parked his car in front of the store. The store attendant, seeing him and Amber alight, swung the door wide open for both of them.

Everyone knew who Glenn Smith was, the only son of the wealthiest conglomerate in Eagertown. It would be a lie if Amber claimed she had connections; Glenn's name was what she used to gain that privilege.

Yet, Glenn understood the magnitude of Amber's pride in admitting that to his face. He always let it be in order not to hurt Amber's pride.

"Here is your ordered bag, miss," said the store attendant, presenting a handbag with a capital 'H' logo in gold on the cover. A brand known for its outrageously priced items.

"Oh! My baby!" praised Amber happily, her eyes sparkling as she welcomed the bag to her embrace. She admired herself in the mirror, observing her appearance with a bag too expensive for a mere college student.

Earlier, Glenn had sent a quick message to someone he trusted to ensure his act appeared convincing later on.

"And how will you be paying Miss Steel?" the attendant asked casually, knowing that Glenn would use his powerful black card to pay for Amber's dignity, as he always did.

Glenn took notice that Amber didn't even need to ask him to cover her order, even though it wasn't a cheap item. Glenn cursed himself because he was disgracefully foolish back then.

Glenn pulled out the black card from his wallet and handed it to the attendant, who received it with equal enthusiasm as Amber, knowing that after this, they would usually receive a substantial tip from Glenn for making Amber happy.

Even the store attendants competed with each other to serve the two of them every time they shopped.

The attendant's brow suddenly furrowed upon sliding the card reader.

"Mm..." the attendant muttered, trying to swipe his card multiple times, even calling the store manager to confirm if the card was genuinely declined.

Their behavior made Amber confused and started to get annoyed. She stood up, tapping his foot, huffing, and rolling her eyes impatiently. That's the code for Glenn to execute his earlier plan.

"Oh! Shoot me; I forgot that Father punished me. He limited my allowance starting this month, and I've reached my limit." Glenn pretended to forget and looked at Amber with an apologetic gaze.

Everyone's eyes widened in disbelief, especially Amber.

"What?!" That's impossible! How could you-, I don't care; you must pay for this bag!" she ranted shamelessly, throwing a tantrum like a child.

"I can't do anything about it, Amber ... Father knew I overspent last month after buying that luxurious diamond for you and taught me a lesson. Well, since I can't pay for that bag, and you can't either, you should return the bag if you don't have the money," Glenn suggested, further infuriating Amber.

"Sorry, sir, but that bag was specifically ordered by Miss Amber last month. We even embossed her name inside the bag; it cannot be resold," replied the store attendant immediately.

"Last month? But you said they were sold out because of my fault and then punished me to pay?" Glenn pretended, wanting to embarrass Amber in front of everyone. Amber promptly covered Glenn's mouth.

"Why? Don't you want to buy it for me? Won't I look beautiful and attractive in your eyes by wearing that? If that is so, then don't sway time. Pay up immediately, don't embarrass me!" Amber snapped.

Even more glances were exchanged among the shopkeepers upon hearing Amber's excessively harsh tone towards him. The sole heir of the wealthiest family in Eagertown.

"Sorry, Amber, Connor still hasn't given me any leeway. For now, can you pay for it yourself? I'll reimburse you next month," promised Glenn, seeming convincing.

Amber's face turned pale upon hearing Glenn's words; she had no choice but to reluctantly take out her credit card from her purse.

"Promise? You'd better replace it next month," threatened Amber.

Glenn just nodded, forcing a fake smile.

'Let's see if you'll manage to pay off installments for a bag that's more expensive than your financial capabilities, you gold digger woman,' Glenn thought.

After the store attendant proceeded with the installments, they handed over Amber's card.

"Thank you for your purchase at our store. We hope you're satisfied with our service. Have a wonderful day," the attendant said, bowing as they watched them leave.

Amber remained silent, walking ahead, opening and slamming the car door rudely, her face sour as she looked at Glenn sharply when he sat in the driver seat.

Amber refused to talk to him and instead cursed him as a foolish man. The journey taking her home was the most uncomfortable situation he had to endure.

After 30 minutes, they arrived at Amber's residence, Glenn pulled to the driveway, and Amber's silence finally broke.

"I won't forgive you for this, Glenn. You've upset me," she said to him in a cold tone. Glenn chuckled on the inside.

"Yes, forgive me, Amber. I'll make it up to you next month; you can ask for something even more expensive than this," Glenn pleaded with a sad expression, ready to retaliate with her.

"Really? Promise?" Amber asked, her earlier pouting expression changing again, staring at Glenn with a sharp look, demanding his seriousness.

"Yes, anything for you, Amber," Glenn coaxed.

"Meanwhile, Amber listened to Glenn's persuasions with a flat expression; she knew this man would always bend to her words. If she didn't need this man's money, she wouldn't even bother to know him.

In Amber's eyes, Glenn Smith was a foolish, lazy, arrogant, and peculiar man. A far cry from Jason, the man she truly loved, whose only flaw was being poor, and thus, her parents disapproved of him.

"My parents invited you tonight; they want to take you out for dinner. You have to come," Amber demanded firmly.

"Of course, I'm looking forward to it," replied Glenn.

This time, he remembered the reason Amber finally agreed to marry him: it was because of her parents' request when they were on the verge of bankruptcy. They used Amber as collateral to borrow a large sum from his Father's company.

Glenn couldn't wait to retaliate against Amber's family too.
