Chapter Two: Marry Me Again.

LORELEI was stunned for a while. She couldn't move and was afraid of what he might think once he saw her scars. Is he going to shame her too just like everyone does?

“Why do you want to see my scars?” she asked, almost stuttering.

For a while, he didn't reply to her. Instead, he continued walking inside, on the way through the bed in the middle of the room. There was a metal table beside the bed where medicines and equipment were ready.

“Take off all your clothes now, Lorelei. I’ve already prepared all of the things we needed,” he said. Then he disinfects his hands with alcohol and wore a white coat.

“W-what are you going to do with me?” 

She was so nervous while he was busy doing something on the metal table. Her heart was beating so harshly, she couldn't breathe properly. What is happening? These are too sudden!

Paxton looked in her direction and then stretched his arm to reach out to her. He pulled her slowly, making her sit on the soft bed. 

“Listen to me, Lorelei. You have to trust me. I will help you heal your scars,” he said, looking at her genuinely. 

“How… will you do that?” 

A sincere smile crept on Paxton’s lips and then he gently touched the side of her face where her scar was located. “I’m your husband now, you have to trust me. I am doing this for you,” he said.

Although she was still doubting, Paxton slowly removed the mask she was wearing to cover half of her face. She was dazed by how handsome this man is, this man that is willing to do everything just for an ugly woman like her. 

As soon as her mask fell on the bed, Paxton’s fingers touched the scars on her skin. She calmly closed her eyes and waited for him to do something more… until he was the one who undressed her. Now she was just in her lace underwear, she opened her eyes and looked at Paxton’s reaction. Her eyes were scared, afraid of what she might see. Only to see the worry in his eyes. 

“You’re still beautiful Lorelei,” he said. “But in order for you to be confident, we must remove all your scars.”

Slowly, she nodded and let him do what he was supposed to. 

Paxton used a laser to treat her skin and it was so painful. It wasn't easy. That night she pleaded to stop but Paxton kept on promising her that everything would be alright… that after all of this, she will recover her beauty.

A week had passed and still, Lorelei was full of bandages on her body. Within ten days, he hasn’t stopped helping her and keeping everything fine. And she appreciated it so much.

“Do you still feel the pain?” Paxton asked, softly.

He was helping her to eat although she can lift her hand now to eat by herself. Paxton just wanted to make sure that she was doing alright so he made sure she can get whatever she wanted or needed without doing it by herself. 

“Just a little,” she replied. “I can feed myself now…” Lorelei was about to snatch the spoon in his hand but he stopped her. 

“No, I’ll feed you,” he said in a serious tone.

Instead of arguing with him, she just let him feed her. Within ten days, she couldn't help but fall in love with Paxton. He was the epitome of a dream husband. Falling in love with this guy is easy and that’s what happened to Lorelei. It was her first time to feel this kind of emotion, the kind of affection she never feel in any other man even in her ex-fiance.

“Are you ready to see the result?” Paxton asked.

A full-length mirror was in front of Lorelei now that they are going to remove all of the bandages in her body. She was nervous but at the same time, excited. Nervous that it might be the same, that she didn't recover her beauty, and excited that it might be the result they wanted.

“Y-yeah…”

Paxton leaned to her and gently unwrapped the bandages on her body. Her body was trembling in nervousness as she slowly saw the result of Paxton’s hard work. After he removed all of the bandages in her body, she was surprised to see that the burned skin was all clear now! 

“Paxton…”

“Don’t be too excited babe, we need to see your face as well,” he said. 

He lifted her head and slowly unwrapped the bandages on her head. She was just looking through Paxton’s raven eyes while he was busy doing it until…

“Look at the mirror,” he whispered.

She inhaled sharply and then looked at the mirror in front of her. The moment she saw her face, she couldn't help but cry. Seeing how all the scars were removed, how he managed to recover her beauty, it was all amazing!

“Is that really me? Oh my God!” she said, still amazed. 

“Yeah, of course.”

Lorelei looked up at Paxton and without hesitation, she lifted up and kissed him on his right cheek. She was surprised by her sudden reaction, she quickly lowered her head.

Paxton’s lips parted, he was also surprised by the sudden kiss but a smile curved into his lips. 

“Congratulations,” he said.

Lorelei smiled gently and then looked up at the mirror to see her face again.

“Thank you, if it’s not because of you, I wouldn’t be able to recover my beauty—”

“Let us register our marriage, let’s get married again.”

Her eyes widened and looked up at Paxton. His eyes were full of sincerity and she couldn't help but fall in love… 

“Yes, let’s do that,” she replied.

She will never regret marrying this man. Lorelei barely knows him but he helped her with all his heart and that is the kind of man she has been dreaming of. The man who will see her worth despite her being ugly.

While Paxton on the other hand felt relieved that all his plans is going accordingly… His first mission was successful… that is to make Lorelei Marshall fall in love with him.
