Chapter two

Still standing outside the gates of the Williams company building, Gonzalez is unsure of what to do next.

He thinks about his next move carefully, thinking of the right words to tell his wife when he arrives home.

She seemed so happy this morning, and he knew it would break her if she found out that he didn’t get the job.

His phone rings again, the same number which had called earlier on.

He is hesitant to take the call, as the number isn’t saved on his phone.

He takes a deep breath and answers the call. “Who is this?”

“Gonzalez! You sick, worthless man,” the voice on the other end of the phone yells.

The voice sounds familiar, but Gonzalez isn’t sure who it is.

“Who is this?” he asks again.

“This is Sylvester, you fool.”

Sylvester, Natasha’s elder brother. He had never been in support of his sister’s marriage to Gonzalez and always looked for a reason to split them up.

“Sylvester. What do you want?” Gonzalez inquires, his fists clenched and ready to hit whoever he found near him.

“I want you to pack your bags and leave our house now!” Sylvester yells over the phone.

Gonzalez scuffs. He is not afraid it Sylvester’s empty threats as they both had gotten into a lot of fights over the years they stayed together.

Sylvester always had the belief that Gonzalez is only after their family wealth and fortune, which is why he married Natasha and this stirred Sylvester’s hatred for him.

“Gonzalez, you have the next twenty-four hours to leave my sister and walk out of your marriage or else…”

“Or else what?” Gonzalez asks, interrupting Sylvester’s threat.

There is an awkward silence between the both of them over the phone. Gonzalez’s anger at the Williams growing gradually with every threat and action they performed towards him.

“I promise to make your life a living hell if you don’t do what I am asking you to,” Sylvester finally responds.

Gonzalez walks down the street subconsciously while taking to Sylvester over the phone.

By passers seem to think that he has lost all sense of human thinking with his yelling, but that thought is immediately dismissed whenever they saw the phone, which he held up to his left ear with his hand.

“What’s the worst you could do to me you haven’t done already?” Gonzalez asks.

“You had better believe me that when I am done with you, my mother’s plan will have no need to continue.” Sylvester utters.

“She has made sure that no company would ever offer you a job, but I promise you I will do worse than that to you. I will make sure you never see your unborn child with my sister,” Sylvester continues to rant, confessing things he shouldn’t have.

Gonzalez stops in his tracks. His brain was finding it hard to process everything Sylvester had just said to him. Especially the fact that Mrs. Williams was the reason for his joblessness.

“What are you talking about?” Gonzalez asks.

His voice goes soft a little just to avoid Sylvester ending the call without giving him the answers he wants.

“You have no idea, do you?. My mother is the reason you have no job and yes, your wife; my sister is pregnant. I guess Natasha didn’t even think you deserved to know that she’s pregnant for you. She must be so ashamed to have you be the father of her child,” Sylvester mocks him.

His words hit Gonzalez like an arrow piercing through his heart.

“Twenty-four hours Gonzalez. Leave my family or I’ll have you killed!” Sylvester warns once more and ends the call.

Gonzalez sighs. “Natasha is pregnant.”

Those words make his heart smile, but he knows without a job to take care of his family, Mr. and Mrs. Williams would never allow him to play the father role in the life of his unborn child.

Still pondering on what Sylvester had just said to him, Gonzalez barely notices a black Lincoln limousine following behind him in a uniform speed.

It accelerates a bit faster and stops just in front of him. Two hefty men dressed in suits alight from the vehicle with a sac in the hands of the taller one.

“Oh, come on, can this day not get any worse?” Gonzalez sighs.

He takes slow steps backwards, preparing to make a run for his life.

After a few seconds, he turns his back to the men in suits, but before he can take a step away from them, the shorter man in black with a goatee grabs him by the waist and lifts him up in the air..

“Put me down!” Gonzalez yells as the taller man ousts the sac over his face, preventing him from seeing the surrounding environment.

“Let me go! I have a family to return to! You can't kidnap me!” Gonzalez yells, but the men ignore him and so do the very few people passing the streets when everything is happening.

Gonzalez is taken into the car and the driver brings the engine back to life as they zoom off.

All Gonzalez can think about is his wife Natasha who he is sure would be the only one worried about his whereabouts if he didn’t return home today.

He's mind goes back to the Sylvester’s confession of Natasha being pregnant for him. He was certain it would break her to know that he was kidnapped.

“Where are you taking me? Who are you? What do you want from?”

Gonzalez's questions come out as unclear mumbles to the ears of his sudden abductors because of the sac placed over his head.

“He talks a lot,” the man with the goatee declares, but receives no response from his colleague or the driver.

After what felt like forever on the road, Gonzalez feels the car come to a stop.

The men step down and help him get down, too. Leading him through the grand gates of a billion dollar mansion, the sac on Gonzalez’s head is still not removed.

After a moment of shoving and pushing him to move forward, the tall man in a black suit takes off the sac from Gonzalez’s face.

He is stunned by the beauty of the building which stands before him.

An elegant man, dressed in an oxblood suit, walks up slowly to them, his face full of annoyance.

“How dare the both of you treat our young master this way?”
