“That was an impressive fight,” Mr. Drummond said to Jake. “But we can’t discuss matters here. Follow me.”

Jake remained silent. The body guards followed him as he walked after his grandfather. He was led to a massive metal door. And nobody would ever believe that such a place existed within the shabby bar.

His father pushed the door and the smell coming out of the room made him cover his nose. He was not a fan of strong disinfectant and drugs. He entered the room then the doors were shut by the bodyguards.

“What is this place?” Jake asked as he looked around.

There were a lot of sample tubes, beakers, microscopes, and machines he was not really familiar with in the room. There were also some huge glass jars containing skin of species he didn't know and some internal organs.

“This is a secret laboratory of my company. Secret experiments are done here by my carefully selected people and pharmaceutical scientists,” the old man replied. “And this is one of the places that you would take over when I appoint you as the CEO of my company.”

“Secret, huh?” Jake asked, then he walked around touching everything he saw. “You mean, illegal, right?” Then he took out the Aetherlock from his pocket and put it on.

“Illegal it is, but I don’t care. As long as I can help with the development of medicine. I don’t care,” Mr. Drummond proudly said.

“Development of medicine or development of your bank account?” he asked while still looking at the things around. “Don’t be so virtuous. We both know how selfish you are.”

“Fine,” the old man replied. “I found a cure for a lot of incurable diseases. That helped thousands of people but also brought a lot of money to my pocket. That’s a win-win situation right?”

Jake snickered then his eyes were fixed in a large agitator. Memories started to rush in his mind. He recalled himself creating power and healing potions in Eldramoria using his magic and some components available around. And all of the knowledge about that flooded his mind.

“But showing your strength isn’t enough to be heir, Jake. Do you know that?” Mr. Drummond asked. “I built this company and empire not only with my strength but mostly with my mind.”

“Do you still think I am the same Jake five years ago?” he asked. He smiled while looking at his father.

“I’ve been creating medicine and drugs for decades but I haven’t discovered a cure for stupidity,” the old man blatantly replied.

He sneered and picked up one sample tube from a rack near the agitator. He whispered a spell and the liquid inside started to glow. But only him could see it.

“Can you call one of your body guards?” he asked his father.

“Why?”

“I’ll show you what I can contribute to this company and empire of yours,” he replied with a confident smile.

His father stared at his eyes before nodding his head, then he clapped his hands twice. One of his bodyguards opened the door and entered.

“Do you have any fresh wounds in your body?” Jake asked while shaking the sample tube.

“No, sir. I don’t have any.”

Jake quickly grabbed up a pair of scissors from the table and threw them to the bodyguard. It was so fast that even the professional security couldn't react. The scissors grazed the man's right arm, cutting the coat and shirt he was wearing and wounding him.

“What are you doing?!” his father shouted at him with circled eyes.

But he didn’t reply. He walked towards the bodyguard who was already holding his bloody arm firmly. He grabbed the man’s arm and tore the piece of clothing that covered the wound. It was a three inch cut that looked like it needed to be sutured.

“Look how stupid you are! Look what you’ve done!” his father yelled once more.

“Just watch and stop yelling, as if you care about this man,” he replied. “Just come here and take a look.” Then he moved so his father could see what he was about to do.

He removed the sample tube's cover and poured the liquid directly into the wound. That caused the bodyguard's mouth to open and eyes to clench in pain. The wound began to smoke then the bleeding stopped. The broken skin then began to join together gently, sealing the wound and leaving no trace.

His father stared at him with a wide open mouth and eyes. “How in the world did you do that? The wound disappeared like…it was not there!”

Jake grinned and faced his father. “I can’t tell how I did it. It is one of my aces to ensure that you’ll accept me as the CEO,” he said. "But that would be too magical; I can make something that the bureau will accept without any questions, but the effects will take longer than what you saw. What do you think?"

Mr. Drummond tilted his head and smiled. He walked over to Jake and patted his son’s shoulders.

“I don’t know what happened to you. But I am so happy that you’re back with those skills!” the old man said. “Alright. Tomorrow, effectively, you’ll be the CEO of the company and you’ll start with this project right away.”

“And the compensation?”

“You can have anything you need. Just tell me or my secretary,” the old man replied with a beaming smile.

“Then, that's a deal,” Jake responded, then he walked to a table and put the sample tube there. “But I want Sebastian to work for me. Don’t fire him. If he insists on leaving, threaten him.”

“Why?” Mr. Drummond asked, then he went to a small table where a bottle of whiskey was placed. He poured some in a glass and took a shot. “Is this a revenge plot?”

Jake sighed deeply. “I won’t get anything from that. I just want him to work more for the company. That’s all. I am just not sure if he’ll wake up by tomorrow.”

His father laughed, then looked at him. “Okay. He’ll work with you and you can do anything with him.”

“Great!” Jake said gleefully. “By the way, where is Caroline? She told me she was going to watch the match.”

“Caroline? You talked with Caroline?” Mr. Drummond asked with a puzzle look. “She’s abroad. And I didn’t know that she’s here.”

“What do you mean? I met her this noon and we had lunch together,” he said then he walked towards his father with knitted eyebrows. “You called her. You said you wanted to talk with her. I even heard your voice.”

“That wasn’t me!”

The old man took out his cellphone and dialed his daughter's number. He turned on the loudspeaker so Jake could hear it as well. The phone began to ring, and after a few rings, someone answered.

“Yow! I thought nobody was gonna call!” It was a high-pitched manly voice. “Actually, I just woke up and was about to call you Mr. Drummond.”

“Who are you? Where is my daughter?!”

“Oh, your pretty daughter! Well, she’s with us. We took her,” then the man laughed.

Jake's hearing improved as he touched his right temple. He could easily hear everything around the person on the other end of the phone line. Metals clattered, and the wind appeared to be fierce. There were whispers, then he heard Caroline screaming for help. But she sounded like she was in a container.

“What did you do to my sister?!” Jake asked. His fists were tightly clenched and his face turned red. “And what do you need?”

“I’ll just send you the details.” the man replied. “Don’t call this phone again, and follow everything that I will tell you to do. Don’t call the police. I have access with all your lines and I know everything that you do. One wrong move, and the lady here is dead.”

“Don’t you ever put a single scratch on her!” Jake responded. However, the line abruptly disconnected.

Mr. Drummond screamed in anger and threw the glass he was holding to the ground causing it to shatter. “What are we gonna do? I know… I’ll call my connections!”

“Relax! Wait for his message. I already have an idea where he is. And I will definitely save Caroline. No matter what!”  he said with a piercing look in his eyes.

Karlow quickly dashed to Damascus and he carried him on his back. He knew that he wouldn’t be able to match that form of Valaree, and that retreating would be the best option for them to save their lives. He wanted to fight but he didn’t want to waste the second life he had now. So, he couldn’t be reckless. But he hadn’t gone far away yet, when Valaree jumped in front of him.“Don’t look at his eyes!” Damascus said faintly. Karlow quickly looked away from Valaree and he started to run to the other side. “You can try looking at his chest. Just avoid looking at his face, or else you’ll be tempted to look at those eyes.” Damascus said again.“Damn it! How can I fight like that?” Karlow exclaimed.“Just put me down,” Damascus said. “I will just slow you down. I am done for. So, just go and fight without thinking about me.”Karlow snickered. “As if a noble knight like me can do that to a comrade who saved my life.”“Ah! Damn it! Let me go!” Damascus shouted.Karlow was about to answer b

Damascus immediately ran towards Jake and hugged his friend tightly. Then he sat on the ground while catching his breath. “You could’ve killed me with that woman,” he said while looking at the ground. “You even saved me from death.”“So the healing spell that I cast down there healed you?” Jake asked. “But you were dead. You were dead even before we got there.”“That’s what I knew as well. But I guess, you have awakened something that wasn’t awakened even by the strongest mages in history. Or maybe even the Aetherlock,” Damascus replied.Jake looked at his friend. He did not say anything, but he thought about what Damascus said. He knew he didn’t have the magic to bring dead people to life. He didn’t even try using the reanimation magic even before. So, there must be a possibility that what Damascus said was true. “Anyway, we don’t have much time to think about it right now,” Damascus suddenly said while slowly standing up.Jake nodded and his brows knitted when he saw the bodies of

“Damascus?!” Thalara shouted after coughing up blood. “How come you’re still alive?! Damn you!”Damascus snickered while looking up at her. “Have you forgotten? I was once called ‘The Immortal Damascus.’ And once you have an Archmagus Maximus friend, you’re unlikely to die easily. Right, Jake?”“You son of a gun, I thought you hit the bucket already,” Jake said with a faint smile on his face. Tharala cast a spell and the sword that was pierced in her slowly moved and was pulled out. The sword fell but Damascus caught it. She then cast a healing spell but Jake dispelled it, causing her wound to bleed more.“Does it hurt?” Jake asked as he slowly floated around Thalara. “How does it feel to be stabbed in the back by someone you know?”Thalara did not respond. She just gritted her teeth while pressing the wound to at least lessen the bleeding. “You think that’s painful?” he asked again. “But that was nothing compared to the pain that you caused me.”Thalara then smiled and looked at Ja

The Vipers and the Wolves started to attack. They used all the magic powers they had to suppress the evil gods and Tharanos. Archris quickly ran towards Jake and he pulled him away from the chaos. “Bring him inside Caroline’s barrier,” Lyca said. “We’ll fight with our comrades here. We have to be in the front line. You know our mages wouldn’t last long and that there will be bloodbath in just a matter of minutes. So, move fast. Okay?”Archris nodded his head. Then without a word, he teleported together with Jake near the evacuation area. Caroline then touched the barrier and let them in. “Oh, no,” Caroline exclaimed. Alica beside her was crying and the people started to crowd around them trying to see what happened to Jake.“Come on, Caroline. Don’t cry,” Jake said. He was trying to hide the pain, but his face couldn’t. Then his body started trembling. “Caroline, we don’t have much time,” Archris said. “Heal Professor as fast as you can. We have to go back to the battlefield.”“B-

  • Chapter 147

Thalara’s intelligence was hard to match. She was the queen, the leader of the forest priestesses, and once, hailed the greatest forest priestess ever lived. She had led the elite faction, and protected them from extinction even before Jake arrived in Eldramoria. She had won many battles already, and was a feared tactician during the war of Eldramora against Tharanos. And Jake just forgot that. And that mistake put him in a terrible situation. He was still dizzy from the punch he took from Tharanos. He could feel his body, but couldn’t move. He wanted to crawl away, as he knew what was coming next. And heard an unsheathing sword. And he yelped when he felt something was stabbed in his back. It was so painful but he couldn’t even scream. “Jake!” “Aetherlock… I am sorry…”“No! You aren’t dying yet!”The ring on his finger illuminated a bright light, causing blindness to those around him. It was so bright that even the people in the evacuation area had to cover their eyes.Jake felt a

Jake looked at the five evil gods behind Tharanos. He remembered all of them, and the struggles he had against them flashed in his memories. He might have defeated Voragor and Dudgara, but he knew that fighting the remaining five together, and Tharanos would be a suicide. From the left of Tharanos, he saw the evil god of Pride. A woman in a red leather suit that was not zipped properly on the chest part because of the chest's massive size. Her name was Samarah. Next is the evil god of envy, a man in deep blue armor. He had blue eyes and long hair. He was called Ingo. Beside him is a man without a shirt, the evil god of lust. He was just wearing pants and leather boots. And his physic was so nice like he was a perfectly carved sculpture. He also had a blindfold. He was known as ValareeThen almost beside Tharanos, is a bald man with a red beard. Tharanos slowly descended from above, his eyes locked at Jake and Thalara followed him with a proud face. The tyrant god-like creature that once terrorized Eldramoria softly landed on the ground, and even the people inside the barrier felt the strong and dreadful presence from that man and they started squirm and ran behind the officers and Caroline. But Jake did not waver. He just stood in the spot where he appeared while looking at the man who was just casually walking towards him. The dark aura emanating out of Tharanos did not affect him.He then looked around and he could not help but sigh when he saw the city was lit by the fire created by the evil gods walking towards where they were. The buildings and houses were destroyed. The whole city was already in ruins. “You look worried,” Tharanos said. His steps were accompanied by black lightning and smoke. “Are you worried about the city?”Tharanos raised his hands and the buildings behind him all fell down. Jake looked at the dir

  • Chapter 143

Jake sat beside Damascus’ not moving body. His head and shoulders were down, and he kept on sighing. There were no tears coming out, but the fury in his heart kept on growing. And it was greater than the sadness that he was feeling at the moment. He touched Damascus’ shoulder, hoping that he would still feel a bit of life from his former friend. But there was nothing. The body in front of him was lifeless. He stood up and without saying anything or looking at Lyca, he headed to the stairs leading down. His face was dark, and his eyes were glaring. There was also small lighting surrounding his body and fists. And the most notable of all was that the Aetherlock was shining brightly.Lyca and the two knights could feel Jake’s fury, and that stopped them from saying anything. They just followed the Archmage until they reached the final floor of that dungeon. It was a long pathway and on the sides were also cages filled with ominous creatures in Eldramoria. However, the floor contained
