"I guess I should leave..."

Henry's voice barely escaped his lips. Hidden behind the thick trunk of an old tree, he watched the clearing ahead with wide, focused eyes. Two baby wolves prowled in the distance and the adult wolf watched over them.

"I'm leaving, if I die again... that's it, no third chance." Henry turned to leave but suddenly, a soft chime rang in his ears.

[New Quest]

[Quest: Defeat the Wolves]

[Reward: 50 Experience Points]

Henry let out a shaky breath. "Whew. I don't have a choice"

"What do I have in my inventory?"

[Inventory]

— Slingshot

— 100 Rock Bullets

A moment later, a small slingshot appeared in his hands.

It was a simple wooden Y-shaped frame, polished but rough, with two rubber bands stretched between its tips.

Henry stared at it, dumbfounded expecting something more powerful to appear. But no, this was it. "How is this supposed to be my weapon...?"

Sighing, he summoned the rock bullets. A pouch full of tiny smooth stones that's was in a shape of bullet, it's was different from normal tiny rocks one could pick from the ground. He peeked inside, then tied the pouch securely around his waistband.

"Alright.....if this is how I survive, so be it."

He crouched lower, peeking around the tree, the wolves were still roaming, unaware.

Carefully, he drew one of the small rocks and loaded it into the slingshot's cradle. His fingers trembled slightly as he pulled the band back.

The wooden frame felt awkward in his hand. His stance was clumsy, his grip unsteady. The rubber band wobbled as he tried to steady his aim, too shaky.

He adjusted his footing and took a deep breath.

"Whew... come on, focus."

He exhaled slowly and closed his right eye, centering the first baby wolf in his sight. It sniffed curiously at the grass, oblivious.

And then, he let go.

The rock zipped through the air, making a faint whistle as it cut through the silence.

*BAM!*

It smacked against the baby wolf's skull. The creature dropped with a yelp, legs sprawled.

"Damn.... Not enough."

Henry quickly grabbed another rock and loaded it. The wolf was dragging itself up, groaning.

*Whish!*

The second shot struck the creature in the torso. Its legs gave out.

[You've Killed a Baby Wolf]

"Yes!" Henry hissed, trying to keep his voice down. But it wasn't quiet enough.

The wolves snapped their heads toward him, eyes glowing.

"Oh no…"

Their growls deepened. Then the adult wolf charged and the baby wolf followed behind.

Henry's eyes widened. "Not funny!"

He spun and ran.

Leaves crunched underfoot as he tore through the trees. Branches scratched his skin, but he didn't stop. The sound of four-legged pursuit echoed behind him.

"Damn!" he panted, heart racing.

He glanced over his shoulder. They were still coming.

Ahead, four goblins milled around a clearing. Henry didn't hesitate, he dashed right past them.

The goblins blinked in confusion. Then they noticed the wolves.

"Tskkkk!" one barked, drawing a rusty sword. The others followed, brandishing weapons and speaking in a harsh tongue.

They met the wolves head-on.

Henry paused behind a tree, watching.

The goblins fought fiercely, but the Adult Wolf was too fast. One goblin fell with a swipe, another was bitten in the neck.

In seconds, all four lay motionless, and the wolves kept coming with the baby wolf taking the lead this time.

"No time…" Henry muttered. "One hit and I'm done."

He dug into his pouch, pulled out another stone, and took aim. His breath was shaky. The baby wolf closed in, then it's jumped.

"Hoowwwll!"

*Swish!*

Henry fired. The rock hit mid-air, slamming into the wolf's skull.

[You've Killed a Baby Wolf]

The wolf fell to the ground dead.

"One left."

The Adult wolf was already lunging, jaws aimed at his legs.

Henry rolled to the side, barely dodging. He stumbled in the landing, but stayed upright.

'No time to think' He drew a rock, loaded it then turned.

The Adult wolf snarled and came charging.

Henry fired, awkwardly, too quick.

But the rock hit true and the wolf fell to the ground.

[Quest completed]

[You've Killed the Wolves]

[+50 Experience Points Earned]

Henry collapsed onto the ground, chest heaving. He hadn't realized how exhausted he was until the fight ended, every limb felt heavy now. His breathing slowed as the adrenaline drained.

After a long pause, he whispered, "System."

"Just fifty more and I'll level up," he said aloud, voice tired but proud.

As he stood, something shiny caught his eye just a few distance away from the wolf.

A small crystal, glowing faintly, lay nestled in the grass. He walked over and picked it up.

"This must be it," he murmured, holding the crystal between his fingers. "With this… I can evolve."

Without thinking, he popped it into his mouth. It dissolved like sugar, slipping down his throat effortlessly.

He smiled. "Well, that was easier than I...."

Then pain exploded through his body.

Henry gasped. His knees buckled. He fell to the ground, clutching his chest as the searing agony spread through every vein.

Henry’s feet pounded against the forest floor as he muttered under his breath, " Alright let's play a little.”Behind him, the thunder of hooves shook the ground. The evolved Fang Boar bellowed furiously and charged. Henry darted between trees, glancing around. Then he spotted one, a tall oak with a sturdy branch angled perfectly for climbing.“Got you,” he whispered. He leapt, caught the branch, and hauled himself upward in one clean motion. The boar crashed against the base of the tree, its tusks scraping bark and splintering wood. It glared up at him, snorting hot air through flared nostrils.“Nice chase” Henry muttered, tightening his grip on the branch as the beast rammed the trunk again and again. Each strike sent shivers up the wood. The tree groaned in protest, its roots loosening as soil shifted beneath it. Henry felt the tremors vibrate through his feet.“Alright, buddy, that’s enough,” he muttered, looking down at the fanged brute that refused to quit.He sighed. “I'll sti

“What is it? Why are you smiling?” the receptionist asked, narrowing her eyes slightly, curiosity playing at the corners of her lips. Henry blinked, snapping out of his daze. “Nothing,” he muttered, rubbing the back of his neck. His eyes accidentally drifted down for the valley at her chest but darted away before she could notice. “Come on, guys! Let’s get this quest started!” Wednesday spoke. They left the guild together but soon split up, each heading toward their respective quest destinations. Henry followed the rough map printed on the back of his quest sheet, his boots crunching softly on the gravel road. “I’m only supposed to kill two Fang Boars and bring their crystals back,” he murmured to himself, holding the quest paper against the wind. “Even if I take down twenty, no one would know. The extra crystals would all be mine.” He grinned a little at the thought. But as he walked through the busy street leading to the capital gate, his attention was caught by a famili

Juliet’s soft voice broke the momentary silence. “What’s wrong?” she asked from behind, noticing the woman’s fixed gaze on Henry. “I don’t know,” the woman replied, her brows furrowed. “Something feels… different about his face.” Juliet chuckled, stepping closer with a teasing smile. “Yeah, he’s handsome, right? Most people even mistake him for a girl.” “Maybe.” The woman shrugged, brushing it off before walking away. Henry, however, knew she wasn’t just admiring him, she had sensed something unusual. She was a high-level adventurer, skilled and perceptive. If she had truly seen through him, he might’ve been in trouble. There were too many adventurers here for him to escape unnoticed if something went wrong. 'Almost got caught' Henry thought with a sigh of relief. Minutes later, the receptionist returned, holding several small cards. “Congratulations,” she said with a polite smile as she handed them out. “You’re now official F-Rank adventurers. Welcome to the guild.” He

“We’d like to register as adventurers,” Vorden said confidently to the receptionist behind the counter. The woman looked up from her desk and smiled politely. “Wait a moment.” She pulled open a drawer, retrieved a small stack of forms, and spread them neatly before the group.“Please fill these out first,” she said.Henry stared at the paper in front of him, feeling lost. The only things he could confidently fill in were his name and age. Vorden, however, was already writing swiftly, so Henry subtly peeked at his sheet for clues and managed to complete his own form with some effort.Once they were done, the receptionist began explaining the rules and responsibilities of adventurers, how guild ranks worked, the importance of missions, and the conduct expected from every registered member. She had clearly done this many times before, her tone professional yet patient. Henry listened with extra attention; everything about this world was new to him, and he didn’t want to miss a detail.Wh

Panic rippled through the group as they rushed toward Henry, their faces tight with fear and confusion. “Don’t worry, guys. I’ll be alright,” Henry muttered, forcing a calm smile even as his mind spun. His body slowly began to heal from within. “Maids!” the merchant barked, his voice sharp at first, then quickly softening into reassurance. “Don’t panic, Henry. It’s just a cut. You’ll be fine. The healer lives only a stone’s throw away.” Vorden dropped beside Henry, guilt written all over him. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to hurt you,” he said, voice trembling. Henry didn’t answer. He sat there quietly, clutching his arm. Within, the injury was healing and now it's because visible to the eyes. “Wait... look at that,” the merchant’s wife whispered, eyes wide in disbelief. “Are you a mage?” Wednesday asked, her gaze locked on Henry’s arm as the last traces of injury disappeared. “Thank the goddess,” Vorden exhaled, relief washing over him. “It’s healing... he’s really healin
