Outside, Drake sighed, putting his hands into his pocket and pausing for a bit. Even though it hurt, he wasn't going to let Kelly's snobbish words affect him. This wasn't the first time she was treating him like trash. She called him a useless man. If only she knew that the reason why Lydia was celebrated worldwide was because of him. A useless man that could buy the whole of this country if he wanted to? Yeah, very useless indeed.

Left for him, he wouldn't care, but he was doing this for Lydia. As her husband, it was his responsibility to ensure her happiness and satisfaction to the fullest and even though he did it all behind the scenes, it still gladdened his heart.

With that in mind, he dialed a number that connected on the third ring. “Quickly, handle the officials that made my wife's company go public. Make sure the news never leaks. It must remain a secret,”

“I'll take care of that, young master,”

“One more thing, about my oil and gas company, I need majority of the shares transferred to her name. Tonight,”

There was a brief silence. “Sir?”

“You heard me, Silas,” Drake said tightly. “Send me the documents after you're done,”

Silas hesitated, his voice unsure. “Are you sure about this, sir? Right now, the company is doing great and doesn't need a major shareholder. You've already invested a lot in the company, and transferring it so suddenly…” He paused, like he was choosing his words carefully. “I don't really think Lydia is worth the effort. Please consider, Sir,”

Drake frowned. “Now isn't the time to be arguing with me, Silas. Get it done immediately and update me,”

Just then, the door to the living room burst open and quickly, he ended the call and pushed it back into his pocket. Kelly and her friends rushed out and at the sight of him, she shot him a disgusted glare. “Are you still here?! If this house is not sparkling clean by the time I'm back, you'll wipe the floor with your tongue!”

“Let's go, Kelly. Don't waste your breath on the lunatic…” Sabrina said, pulling her hand as they walked out the main door.

Drake released a sigh and looked at the clock as an idea suddenly flashed through his mind. Yes! Cook a lavish dinner for Lydia. She'd be so famished when she came back and he had to make today memorable and special for her.

“She would love it…” He muttered with a smile as he entered the kitchen, his hands working fast. Her favorite meal was greased cheeseburgers and hot dog and he was going to prepare it exactly as she loved it.

By the time he was done, ribbons dangled from the ceilings and on the table was a baked cake that read “Congratulations to my dearest wife”

Everything was perfect and complete except that Lydia was nowhere to be found and the food was getting cold. His jaws tightened and his slightly shaky hands reached out to dial her number for the fifth time.

The line rang through and stopped with a beep. No response.

Weird.

“What's going on? Is she okay?” Drake said in panic and dialled the number again. He waited for the line to ring out again, but this time there was a click before someone picked up. “Hello…”

Drake froze. His frown thickened as he stared at the caller ID. A man had responded. Not his wife's voice.

“Who is this?” Drake said, his tone suspicious.

The deep male voice chuckled. “Babe, it seems your house husband is calling. The useless idiot, I wonder what he wants,”

Lydia grabbed the phone, her voice annoyed and irritated. “Drake, what is it?”

Drake scoffed, refusing to believe that she had just spoken to him like that. “Babe, what's going on? Who's that guy in the background and why did he call you babe?”

“I'm at work and your calls are disturbing me!” She snapped.

“It doesn't sound like you're at—”

“Get to the damn point, Drake. What do you want? I'm frustrated already, don't add to it,” Lydia said coldly.

“Okay, I prepared a candlelit dinner for us to celebrate your latest success. Something special. Mum isn't at home, so it's going to be our personal time together. What time would you be back?”

Layla snorted. “Is this why you called? I'm not interested,”

“Babe—”

“Damnit, I have to attend my company's banquet and will not be back until tomorrow morning!” She retorted impatiently, and before he could say anything, the call ended.

Drake could feel a chill run down his spine. What just happened? It was weird. Lydia had never spoken this rudely to him in their four years of marriage. Yes, communication had been a bit off, but he blamed it on her busy schedules and instead tried his best to fill the gap. So what went wrong?

Pain mixed with disappointment filled his heart and he kept staring at his phone, waiting for a call or message from Lydia to light it up. His eyes shifted to the dinner table and his stomach sank further. Such a shame that all of this was going to waste.

Nature decided to play a funny prank on him because his phone buzzed at that moment and his heart did a painful lurch as he reached out for it.

But it was not an apology message from Lydia. They were videos. One after another, flooding his phone as he opened them. It was Lydia in exposing lingerie, her hands wrapped over someone he had never met in his life. She was kissing him, tongues dancing in an heated, intense manner while cheers echoed around them.

Shock enveloped him so hard that the phone almost slipped off his hands. He gasped shakily and clicked on the next video. The handsome man was kneeling now, proposing to Lydia on one knee. He heard her scream in excitement before saying yes, stretching her hand like she wasn't already married.

Beneath the videos, a single text glared in his face. “I'm the man she choose”

Drake's hands trembled hard as his chest burned in panic. No…no, this had to be some sort of misunderstanding. Maybe he was not seeing clearly.

“No, this can't be real! Lydia wouldn't do this to me…” He chuckled, the sound low and bitter.

A cramp tore through him, sharp and violent as he quickly dialed her number.

“Pick up. Please pick up…”

But all he got was the familiar voice of the network operator: This number is not available at the moment.

He swallowed hard, feeling his pulse racing in his ears. The videos just couldn't leave his mind. Slamming hard on the table, he tried her line again and this time, the device was switched off.

“No, no, this can't be happening…” He whispered, his breath refusing to steady. “Lydia can't be cheating, can she?”

The hotel bed was warm and cozy as Lydia wrapped her hand around Leo's chest, sniffling his husky, wood scent. They had just finished making love and now they were enjoying each other's presence.

“Seems that trash you call a husband has been disturbing you,” Leo said, patting her hair.

“Yes, he can be so annoying sometimes. I'm sorry if that bothered you, sweetie,”

“Why don't you just divorce him and accept my ring?”

“Soon, my love. Soon,” Lydia chuckled sweetly, kissing him on the forehead. “The papers are ready, I just need the right time,” She couldn't just divorce Drake now as it would ruin her image and affect her company's stock prices.

When the time was right, she was going to cease the opportunity, but right now, risking her soon-to-be listed company for that idiot was a very big no. Oh, and when she finally divorced him? It'll be hot and messy, he might even hang himself.

Gosh, that loser. He was such a disappointment and a setback to her. He wasn't even the husband she was supposed to marry. She was supposed to marry her hot fiance, Leo, but when he suddenly went abroad on the day of their engagement party, she had no choice but to settle for Drake.

But now Leo was back, more richer and powerful. Four years of waiting and settling for less was finally over and now she couldn't wait to officially tie the knot with him...

Snuggling deeper into his arms, she let her fingers play with the hairs on his tanned chest. “Thank you for helping my company go public, babe. No one does it like you…”

Leo frowned in surprise at her words, but deciding not to probe further, he chuckled and kissed her. “You're welcome, baby. Just get rid of that husband of yours, so I can fully claim you as mine!”

She did not speak immediately, instead her eyes moved slowly, accessing the angry face of the visitor before her. She leaned back in her chair, one hand resting lightly against the desk, her posture relaxed yet commanding. One eyebrow lifted subtly, as if questioning why someone would walk into her office without permission. “Yes?” she said at last, her tone as polite as possible. “Do we have an appointment?”“I’m Lydia Winters,” Lydia said, forcing confidence into her tone. “CEO of Winters Limited. I'm here to discuss something very important that couldn't wait,”Rather than offering her a seat, Sophie continued to observe her under her lashes. She fought the urge to roll her eyes. Ugh. Speak up! What happened?”“The shareholders decided to begin the meeting without you. They said you'd join them when you arrived. I'm sorry, ma. I tried to stop them, but they refused to listen.”“What?” Her eyes hardened instantly. “Who the hell ordered a meeting in my company? Is that person asking for death?”“I don't know, ma… but—”“Prepare a few sack letters. Most of those idiots are going to be needing one before the day ends,” Lydia growled as she headed to the meeting room in anger. She pushed open the door with a bang and the shareholders jumped in shock.“So you’ve all graduated to holding meetings without me?” she said stiffly, forcing her voice to stay level even as rage burned behind her eyes. “Let me remind you, this is still my company.”The events of the last few days wer

Your solution to dealing with her is through violence and I cannot allow that in my event. If you come up with diplomatic ways to resolve this, then I can listen,”“I'm doing all I can to make sure this event continues uninterrupted. Rest assured, the girl will receive the punishment she deserves,” She added.“At the expense of your guests…? This girl needs some beating to reset her brain!
